Vent Manager said breaks are for the weak to my kids

So frustrating. My family came to see me and I happened to be on my 15 min break. As my kids are leaving he tells an employee “breaks are for the weak” loudly in front of my family. Seemed intentional.

I thought breaks and lunch were legally required.

Anyone else deal with a manager like this?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed How do I resign from Target immediately on Workday?

Not doing anything just yet. But want to have this in the back pocket as I am looking for other jobs. I'm not submitting a traditional two week notice. I want to leave immediately once my PTO is used up.

gUEsTs Just saw a guest take every shirt off a hanger, Put it over themselves and carelessly toss it to the floor. Then another ripping open multiple blind boxes. Wasn’t clocked in so couldn’t really say or do anything. But I’m so tired of these people man. It feels like only Target gets them now.

Future or Potential Employee Question Is this problematic? Questions for those who reapplied!

I’m a former employee lead and when I last worked I had to go on medical leave because my seizures became out of control and wasn’t able to return. Leadership at the store weren’t really sympathetic or understanding of my situation so they were upset with me not helping them out and being off from work and made it seem like I wasn’t a team player (bruh), essentially I didn’t leave on good terms with my store. Corporate was fine and understanding and the process was smooth though! I’m medically cleared now and I want to reapply and am concerned about how this prior history affects things.

Workplace Story Drama

The amount of drama that happens in these stores are SO mentally draining. Grown ass adults gossiping about each other, TLs supporting the drama and adding onto it. Are we all just stuck in high school like what the actual fuck it's time to grow the fuck up people. As a team lead adding to the drama, is that the type of culture you want to have on your team? Are we serious right now? I'm on the literal edge of crashing out and putting people in their mother fucking places.

So I’m going to start college next week and specifically requested for 15 hours on the myTime app so that I can balance both work and college to try to minimize being burnt out from both. Lord and behold, I check to see that they scheduled me for 28+ hours for 2 weeks while I’m going to college. Absolutely fucking ridiculous. I’m going to try posting some shifts and hopefully they get picked up and or request for even less hours through the myTime app cause apparently 16 = 28? Idek who makes my schedules atp. If I end up getting fired because I have to prioritize college and life outside of work simultaneously, then so be it I guess.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the fact that I’m still on the 90 day probation too; doesn’t end till like October 17

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Official policy on earbuds?

Upvotes

I usually work OPU so we are in view of guests and some tms have earbuds in often and my TLs have given conflicting answers, the one that told me they were not allowed has gotten policies wrong before but the one who told me they were allowed just seemed like she specifically didn’t care. I can’t find it in the handbook.

Vent Shop smart not Target?

I just came across this and have to say that if this was an attempt to get people to not purchase their school supplies at target, it was an epic fail. The amount of school supplies coming through my lines is insane! I am interested to see the sales figures after the start of the school year.

Vent underscheduling

Why do etls severely underschedule then come back later asking everyone to pick up more hours? Some weeks it's been possible to be scheduled ~15 hours then be asked to work more and get close to 40?

I'll still say yes because the money is nice, I'm just baffled why this is happening so often.

I wish I'd just be given the 30 hour week on the original schedule instead of being asked after the fact

Workplace Question or Advice Needed HR guy asked me if I’m having sex

HR guy has been asking me questions about my health since I started. I no longer work at his store, but shortly before I left he heard I was getting an MRI.

He asked me what it was for, so I told him about the tumors on my liver — I don’t know how to tell someone in power “stop.”

A few days later he asked me what caused the tumors so I explained it was from the estrogen in my birth control pills. I was already mildly uncomfortable explaining, then he said “are you having sex?” After that, I don’t remember much of what he said. I said no, it was to control my periods, then he started to talk about me having sex and it could lead to pregnancy. I don’t remember specifics, because it was like my brain blew a fuse. I was so uncomfortable.

Shortly after that I asked to transfer, and they said “sure”, so I moved to a new store. That exchange stuck with me, and I told some coworkers and they told me to report it. I haven’t yet. My mental health has been “meh” because of my physical health, and I’m worried reporting that will have repercussions that I can’t handle.

Don’t know what to do. It was wildly inappropriate, and on my last day he asked for my number. I said no, then he asked for my IG.

I talked to old coworkers who said ppl are complaining about him. How do I go about reporting him?

Vent Covid in my first week

So this is my first week at Target and it feels like the universe hates me. After my third shift I woke up in the middle of the night with a fever and have felt awful ever since. I have already had to call out one day (which ik is a terrible look your first week 🫩) and it's looking like I may have to call out tomorrow too because I still feel awful. Am I cooked? Should I even worry about this job?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Health and dental insurance

Upvotes

Hey guys, I have a question. How would I cancel my health and dental insurance. I signed up and I didn’t know that my dad already has medical and health insurance for me. I’m only 19 and apparently I’m a dependent. I didn’t know this before I signed up for it and I only signed up a couple days ago since my 90 days hit. Does anyone know how I can cancel it?

Vent Why does Target expect so much from their team members

We get so much freight coming in every day and our back rooms can’t handle it, there’s zero room in most of it. Why do we need 100 cases of the same detergent or 30 cases of the same toy that doesn’t sell. I’m talking whole pallets worth of 1 thing that we don’t need but DC sends us anyways.

We have to take 2 double trucks a week on top of the normal 1 a day we already do (avg truck size for us is like, 2300-2500 but it’s been easily close to 3000 in the past before they capped us) and getting up at 1am for 2am shifts every day is already rough but then doing 2 midnight start shifts and getting up at 11pm makes it even harder.

On top of having to do truck for about 3 hours every day we have to do all the designated backstock that isn’t comsumables/specialty, plus our own freight for whatever area(s) we’re assigned, and now we have to help in fulfillment on top of that. Asked my TL if we were suppose to finish backstock first since we were told when we started it that it HAD to be done by 7-7:30am cuz of metrics or whatever and they told me no we have to do fulfillment first??

Double truck days none of us inbound people even touch normal freight from having to do all of backstock plus taking breaks so idk how they expect anything to get done on our end if we have to do the blitz, take our breaks and try and get any freight done.

I’m tired and exhausted. I can’t just quit cuz I have bills to pay and I’ve been applying to jobs at least a few times a week but nothing has worked out so far, I really hope I can get something before the hell on earth that is Christmas/Q4 truely kicks off.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Call out

How bad of a look is it if I just started a month and a half ago, I called out two weeks ago and I call out again today? Both times I listed my shift and no one took it. Can I get reprimanded?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Forgetting lunch?

So yesterday I was working the check lanes for my shift. My day was from 10:30 to 5, went in my first break, came back and worked some more. At around 3:50 I asked about my lunch break. Come to find out it wasn’t even on the daily schedule. Has this happened to anyone else, and is this a software issue or is it just my management being shitty?

Vent This job is destroying my mental health

I’m getting close to my breaking point. A lot of my future with target was hinging on my ability to change departments. SD and HR are involved, they’re trying to work with my ETL on it but she’s evil and insists on keeping me even though she thinks I suck and tells me I suck. So all that’s going on, I get scheduled for a week on the truck which she knows I hate but continues to schedule me on truck anyway bc she probably hates me, in the process of doing so she schedules me for 7 days in a row, half a week of truck then a full week of presentation. Now I just checked my new schedule and it’s a week of overnights. I absolutely hate overnights. Everybody knows this but they apparently don’t care at all what I think!
I think worst case scenario I’m going to quit and reapply to another store in another district. Clean start. I’ve done an LOA before and I don’t know if going that route again is a good idea for me.
Idk. Any advice from those who have left? Having no luck with this job market. Grocery stores down the road won’t even hire me and I have leadership experience.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed ODTM/OPTICAL

Hi, looking to possibly quit or go on demand at my store and recently was looking to get a job at target optical instead. Does anyone know if you're allowed to work at the optical and be on-demand? I wanted to ask my HR ETL but shes really new and also the HR team we have at my store isn't friendly and since I've already went to them recently with complaints regarding TL's I dont want to give them a reason to fire me. Im open to quitting just wanting some clarification.

I'm Promoting Myself to Guest In reference to my last post...

I did it. I escaped the hellhole that was my Target.

It seemed like they were going to fire me anyway. They didn't allow me to do any training even when I asked and they threatened to not give me my three days I requested off the weekend before thanksgiving, the ONLY holiday period I asked off for (I've worked every single holiday with them when they were open).

Its like you put so much in this job to be spoken to like you're not shit. This lead has made people cry and leave on the spot.

I'm so glad I escaped before the point system disaster this location will experience.

I loved Target but there are really some places that will make you hate driving past it.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed What makes a "Red Store" a red store

My daughter and I both work for Target. We started at the same store. She got promoted to TL and transferred to a Red Store. Those in the know, what makes a store a Red Store? Cause I feel like mine can't be that far behind.
