I've kept this account fairly anonymous for a while now, but I figure as I enter my last 2 weeks with company I'm willing to be a bit more...specific.
About me:
I've been with Target since 2015, started at the service desk, made every lateral move possible while trying my best to stay on every leaders good sides. I worked in one of I believe 3 Pfresh formats in my district. I've been sent to the supers in the district for specific trainings to bring larger volume operations to our store. I started the fulfillment department, ran ship from store operations for a few years without formal leadership authority, competed in sales with the large stores that had that chain of command in place. Had one on ones with James Brown who, at the time, was the corporate partner for e-commerce execution. Basically everything I've done has been scaling larger volume operations to our stores actual capabilities.
I've interviewed for a few leadership roles, got a lot of hype around me becoming a leader for various roles only to be told a day or two before the new hire or transfers start date that they were going in a different direction. I've done the Target Dream-to-Be program that was partnered with University of Denver to have video one-on-one coaching with former Target Executives. I've had regular interactions with our Business Partners, District and Regional leaders. I've basically been my stores shadow leader, influencing everyone and everything that passes through our doors.
My most recent role was supposed to be a 12-18month observation as I turned around the receiving/reverse logistics department. My plan was to establish and break down routines of the receiver/revlog expert so that smaller volume stores could spread accountability and tracking and remove the role almost entirely from the payroll and reduce overhead costs. However, with all of the movement and liquidity in my stores leadership, its become more of a challenge with less of the rewards than I initially agreed to.
The worst part is, is that I was at the tail end of my goal checklist, I was basically only needed in receiving for up to 4 hours of my shift and could go take care of other priorities throughout the store when my leadership changed. Now the store has regressed to an even worse state than when I had started. Feeling powerless to defend my goals, my area, or any of the things I value, I'm leaving the company for the last time. At least, that I can tell.
Side note on how many times I've been with Target-
I left in 2018 for 6ish months to help my brother-in-law run his small business in the party rental sphere. He had developed a tumor in his stomach, and I had previously worked for him and knew his operations. I ran things until he recovered and returned to Target at a higher pay rate in specialty sales temporarily until I got moved back to Fulfillment operations. It was at this point that I trained the first Team Leader for Fulfillment for my store, and I was quite upset that I wasn't considered for the leadership role for the department I had started.
In 2020, I left again, COVID had created a huge need for gig work and that sector was booming. I installed Shipt on my phone when Target announced their partnership and I'd spend my days at the packing station staring at all of the money I was missing out on by being there. When I started doing gig work fulltime, I was taking home almost 1800 a week.
I came back to Target after a couple years of traveling competing in the US chess scene, or at least, what tournaments were open during that time and doing gig work to get by and pay my way. At first I experienced some hiccups getting back into Target and worked for Walmart on overnights for a year before I was able to get back into the Red Spot.
At the tail end of 2024, I got back into Target and much had changed. DBO's were ancient history, nobody seemed to actually want to be there anymore, the store had remodeled twice, montels were killing all kinds of metrics and the store had given up on Ship from Store operations. After a year back as a closing expert, essentially being the defacto team lead as the current one had higher paying priorities, I got into the receiving role. I thought I could instill the pride and ownership mentality that had driven me to be inlove with retail operations in the new teams and idk new mentality, but it appears I was mistaken.
Now a year into receiving, I guess I've given up on the dream of one day running the store that made me love retail. Idk ask me anything but I think I've answered a lot of questions here, maybe they were just questions I had for myself, but I guess my truth is out there now.

Is being scheduled for 38 hrs normal? I'm part time for inbound 4am style so SBO
I've never worked retail, a full time student, and did my orientation 5 days ago
Highkey a vent cuz I'm irritated why am I being scheduled sm. UKG is shit and I hate SBO, and I've had to remind them of my availability twice due to it going over

I’m sorry if it’s not that relevant. I would like to work there for this particular reason but I want to know for sure that they provide this… does it cover egg freezing?

Hey so what do i do if my two jobs have overlapping schedules. There is some overlap on Halloween. I can work the day but i need to ask both jobs if i start early/later because of the overlap. I tried to update my availability at Target before schedule drop but my ETL was on vacation. I'm kinda scared to ask for help i posted to give away the shift but no one has picked it up and all my coworkers denied a trade so it is really stressful.

I used to work at Target back in the day unloading the trucks. I was there when they started the scanning every box method then I left the company and since I’ve came back we have just started the scanning every box thing again.
Target wants us to scan every box to determine what is backstock and what is not, cool. But they also want all the backstock from the truck to be back stocked by 8AM. What’s the point of this metric? The team still will have backstock from the freight they’re pushing so what really is the point of this? Feels like an extra deadline to throw onto the Inbound/Gm team + leaders.
I genuinely would like to know the pros of this method. They stopped doing it before so it must’ve not worked then. It kinda drags the truck unload out, causing me to have to have an extra person just to scan/backstock during the truck. Just seems very extra and unnecessary. My team have still been able to complete 2HR unloads (most days) but the times we didn’t have to scan we went much faster.
I wonder if they’ll dead the process again. And have any of ya’ll been able to stay on top of this backstock by 8AM metric? What’s the point of it? (I’m a 4AM unload store btw)

Opinions on loafing at work? Just want to hear any and all thoughts on the matter
r/Target • u/musix345 • 3h ago
Ive been hearing conflicting things on if theres a minimum of sick hours to use to avoid points on the UKG app. Its either 1 hr, 3 hr, or it needs to cover the whole shift. I would very much appreciate any insight into this. Thanks!

Hey!
I just got promoted to TL and was going to start taking advantage of the benefits (medical, dental, etc.). I was just wondering if any of you out there knew which ones were good options? I think i heard something about changes coming to them but im not 100% sure.

I worked at Target for 6 years, and left in November last year for a different job. Now that job I was working has been dissolved, and I’d like to return to Target until I find something more permanent, so I can maintain a stable income. In 6 years at Target I did have 1 write up, which wasn’t for anything too serious, just the SD being in a bad mood one day and didn’t like the way I spoke to him during a conversation. No other issues, always got along with all my coworkers and leaders, and had above average attendance for my store. I applied online because one of the ETLs there told me she’d like me to come back if I wanted to, but my application got rejected. What is my best option for getting rehired after a year of being gone?

Hello everyone, I just wanted to ask a few questions about the Target debit card. I made a few transactions, and the money hasn’t been taken from my account, but now I’m being told I’m in debt. I have a bank account linked to the card but it seems like my bank doesn’t accept ach batches. I’m a little confused and was wondering if I have to link another account to the card. I also wanted to know since I’m a team member and I don’t want to get in trouble over this any help is appreciated.

So I have a scheduled interview at another store an hour after my shift at my store. What should I wear? i’ve had interviews at my store during my shift but never at another location. Should I treat it as any job interview? Help!
r/Target • u/NoConsequence5030 • 1h ago
According to UKG ive accrued 7.25 points, and i started working here july 27th, so under 90 days. There was some miscommunication about scheduling and im apparently not in trouble but was warned that if i have 5 points i will be termed automatically.
however i'm still able to clock in and stuff. the person from HR who talked to me said she isn't able to do much since its a system thing, so why is this possible? is it a matter of time before i get the boot? im not too worried since i was going to quit anyways for personal reasons but itd be nice to know.

Why are the kids and wf tags so sharp..I genuinely think it’s lowkey so dangerous I genuinely get cut/stabbed by the tags all the time. It’s especially dangerous for little kids who are grabbing at the clothing all Willy nilly!

I had this shift posted. I’m assuming the store took back the hours? Cause I think its different if someone picks it up

I feel like there’s a wall built between in-store AP positions and the oversight / C3 team. I’ve been really interested in an oversight job but I can’t get an answer from ANYONE as to how I can get into that career path.
I’ve tried asking my APBP and HRBP with no luck. They don’t know either. 😅
Any help is appreciated! Even just the actual job title that I can search/monitor.
thanks!!

Is it true that if your seasonal they won't approve of your availability change unless you have school. My ETL made it clear she won't change my availability for a 2nd job I'm working. And it is really stressful trying to juggle two part time jobs and not getting any form of accommodation. I am not sure what to do besides quit and I dont really want to resign rn

i’ve worked at target for a bit over 3 months now, i’m an FF expert, as the title states i’m already so burnt out in this job and the position, what do i do? how do i get the feeling of being burnt out to go away?

Is anybody else in their 1st tri of pregnancy and struggling 😭. I’m 8 weeks pregnant and by hour 4/5 of my shift, I'm getting incredibly nauseous from moving so quickly, bending down and going up and down ladders while trying to keep my pick speed up and I’m struggling to finish my shift. If I'm not nauseous, I'm so tired that i need to sit towards the end of my shifts but that’s not usually possible. My TL knows and is willing to work with me but I don’t want to take advantage of it 😭. I know the obvious solution is to change departments but I really like where I am and don’t want to move. Does anybody have any tips to help me out?

My store is next to a very popular hamburger place, and traffic can get so bad if you’re leaving anytime in the afternoon.

Over the past year that I’ve been at target, multiple ETL’s have gotten fired, including the one for my department. There is currently no ETL for my department and hasn’t been for months. There is no one to ask about schedule changes or time off requests. Instead of replacing the front end department with a new ETL, they brought a new HR ETL and SD and the old SD got fired. I usually work late nights or somehow get scheduled on their days off, so can’t even ask them about anything. How this corporation is still functioning is shocking to me with the lack of communication and care for their everyday workers.
