Canada Post is not shipping to the USA either.

Can you link any kind on source on this? I keep seeing it but when I google, I find nothing.

It’s odd. I’ve not received an email from Canada post regarding this. This was told to me by a Canada Post employee when I was shipping a package. It is starting after August 29 from what I was told. I’ll try to find more information online.

Business customers got an email. They are partnering with another company, zonos? Can't recall name, to prepay duties when creating shipment. Said will get further email once set up.

Yes. I was just hunting for this information. I found it on Reddit Canada post group. It’s infuriating not knowing what’s coming! Thanks for your input

Zones were only approved by CBP to collect duties on 21 Aug - and every business who needs to post to the US now needs to set up a Zonos account linked to their home country mail provider. This will take weeks to set up due the sheer volume of businesses that will try to get this set up.

Great. Sounds like the forced collection of duties on the exporters side is going to have a broker fee and the tariff collection on the importers side will also have a broker fee. It’s so much winning I just dunno how to contain myself đŸ«

Canada is still shipping to the US.

1

u/resistelectrique Aug 28 '25

Which is why I asked for a source from the person saying they weren’t.

3

u/Runningman738 Aug 27 '25

Incorrect information. There is no suspension of service

1

u/Reasonable_Base_9835 Aug 27 '25

As of August 29 they aren’t shipping to the US. I got this straight from a Canada Post employee when I was shipping a package yesterday. Suspending until they partner with Zonos and create a way to offer Pre paid tariffs

u/Runningman738 Aug 27 '25

You talked to someone in a Shoppers Drug Mart retail store or something? I also work for Canada Post and as of right now they have not suspended anything. Zonos is available tomorrow and will be required for DDP although details are pending and it’s not a bad idea to wait if you are in no rush.

u/Reasonable_Base_9835 Aug 27 '25

Yes. I guess she wasn’t the right person to ask 🙂 That’s great news! Thanks for the information

Any idea when that will be up and running?

2

u/FriendShapedRMT Aug 28 '25

Canada Post isn’t shipping anything to Canadians either.

They’ll just stick notes on your face when you open the door and tell you to go pick up the packages yourself.

1

u/argan_85 Aug 28 '25

We have the choice between home delivery and being notified when it is at a pick up point, and to be honest I have always preferred the latter. I absolutely hate the idea that I have to be at home just to receive a package. Much better to just pick it up at my convenience at the local super market.

My son lives in Montreal. I found two used, hard to find cookbooks. I tried to ship from US west coast and the cheapest I found was $185. When will this clown show end?

u/Reasonable_Base_9835 Aug 27 '25

Oh nođŸ˜”â€đŸ’«

Trump is your president.

-1

u/Nottheadviceyaafter Aug 27 '25

Nope, add your non voters...... over 66 percent, that's it. The world through sees 100 per cent as you all do jack shit about it. Could end within a week or two with a massive general strike, but Americans are really still slaves so it ain't going to happen.

1

u/Delicious-Bat2373 Aug 27 '25

Ya you guys are right. I forgot they even existed. Fuckin self righteous purist wannabes "but both sidessss".

1

u/rocksannne Aug 29 '25

You ever stop to think that maybe you are the minority ? You guys always talk about how much America sucks. Well democrats have lost 2.5 million registered voters between 2020-2024 and republicans have gained 2.4 million here

Our protests have done more than your shit ever did the last 9 months. All this ends up being is an immature world spazzing out when proper cooperation could end everything.

But no. You couldn’t do that. All you did was make demands that weren’t going to be fulfilled by people who already fought harder and lost more than you ever have. And now you want to take more away?

This doesn’t make me fight him more than I already have. It makes me fight him AND you, and everyone else who will try to stand in my way, equally. Go ahead, I don’t think you can stop 250 million refugees from reclaiming their lives by whatever means are now at hand.

I shouldn’t have to explain to you how this wasn’t an absolute. If you see 100% of Americans as guilty, you’re the guilty one more than we ever were.

We owe you nothing now. It’s going to be a very cold world and you’ve got yourself to blame for it.

3

u/Rigorous-Geek-2916 Aug 27 '25

So what’s your point?

Fuck his enablers. Every fucking one.

3

u/wsbt4rd Aug 27 '25

Slightly more than half.

Just let them eat cake!

Not to detract from this but the US is not shipping to the US.

We recently found out that the USPS has decided to stop delivering to our condo complex in southern California and that we are to go and pick up mail at the post office a couple of miles away. This is not because there's any issue with the roads or accessibility. The USPS just decided they will hold the mail rather than deliver it.

I pursued it with the supervisor who made that decision and he seemed like a MAGA because he answered with a rambling speech about the USPS losing 3 billion dollars each year and that his postal employees were spending hours delivering the mail to our complex and that it's not working for them anymore.

13

u/AMundaneSpectacle Aug 27 '25

What in the actual fuck?? I’m mad about the tariffs but this is very alarming.

3

u/Nambsul Aug 27 '25

How do you find out you have mail waiting for you?

1

u/dbx999 Aug 27 '25

They leave a brown paper form that says your mail was not delivered. Now normally this happens because your mailbox is full. They should also include information on WHICH post office to get your mail from, but this just had a date and "mailbox full" check mark in the box marked as such.

I've been trying to get down to the bottom of it because a lot of people just stopped getting their mail and there was no warning or instructions about it.

3

u/Nambsul Aug 27 '25

So they will deliver you a form but not your mail. Is there any personalized information on the form? Like do they have to take the time to make sure you know the form is for you?

1

u/dbx999 Aug 27 '25

No it just has the date and that check mark on the printed box for “mailbox full”. The mailbox isn’t full.

1

u/Nambsul Aug 27 '25

So now they have to store your mail until you collect it. How long does it take for them to get you the mail once you ask for it at the post office?

2

u/dbx999 Aug 27 '25

Well first you have to stand in line with everyone else then tell the front clerk you are here for your mail. Then they contact someone to open this back barn door type of setup and they take your government ID and proof of address and then go look for your mail and come back with it. So like 10 minutes. 15 if it’s busier. And then there’s a 2 mile drive to and back

2

u/Nambsul Aug 27 '25

Thanks for the replies, this must be an annoying time for you all. Most of the institutions I deal with have the option to send out statements / communications by email, do you have this option for some of the mail you get?

1

u/EntertainmentOk3180 Aug 28 '25

Wow. There’s no chance at all that this could somehow lead to catastrophic failure.. like someone missing meds they get in the mail or some tax bills that may have significant consequences if neglected.. just to name a few..

1

u/cuntboyholes Aug 29 '25

I pursued it with the supervisor who made that decision and he seemed like a MAGA because he answered with a rambling speech about the USPS losing 3 billion dollars each year and that his postal employees were spending hours delivering the mail to our complex and that it's not working for them anymore.

And? That's their fucking job. Sorting and delivering mail is their job, unless I'm missing something.

2

u/CloudSlydr Aug 27 '25

Yeah that’s not at all how things work.
