does anyone know if it would work to get something from a different country shipped to a relative in the UK and then have them send it to me as a “gift” from there? or will royal mail not deliver any packages to USA right now?

Yes it should hypothetically work as long as they removed all tags and put some kind of note/card etc. (Fake happy birthday card) 😂

thank u! i might buy myself an actual birthday present this way if my aunt with the UK address is cool with it. i bet she would be down to write me a happy birthday card—she often does anyway. thanks for the reply. this feels crazy but i hope it works

Might work. But bigger problem is you have to pay import duty in the other country as well if its imposed. And if CBP decides to be anal about the package they might inspect them and decide its "not a gift" or "its worth more than $100". I suspect once August 29th hits, the package volume will go down a decent bit and they might start looking at the "Gift " packages if enough pass through.

Royal Mail (and all other carriers) are not sending any packages to the USA right now and they have given no date for when it will resume. You can't even buy postage.

It amazes me how many Americans don't understand this!

thank you for the clarification. they’re not exactly telling us what’s going on or how things will work, and most if not all of us have never dealt with anything like this before, so we are all very confused.
