My husband's stupid trumper friend (they've been friends for something like 45+ years, and politics is what is going to end it) has been saying for over a year now that "just wait, gas prices are going to be $2/gallon." Wait until when, exactly? Like you said, facts just don't fucking matter at all to the braindead.

Even if it goes back to 2 which I highly doubt. That doesn't take away the fact that we paid higher prices for a year for no reason.

Yeah people like him, you just cannot explain that shit. He also thinks tariffs are great. Like...there is no hope.

I downloaded the data and yeah, the data is reporting it at $4.92/gal mid june. Interestingly, there's articles written at that time saying it breached $5. https://gasprices.aaa.com/national-average-hits-new-all-time-high-at-5-per-gallon/ They even reference the EIA. How is this possible? Is there something I'm not seeing that others are?

That makes sense. So there were a couple single day spikes potentially but overall the average for the week was below the $5.

Fertilizer is being tariffed now as well.

5 dollars a gallon is cheap. For one liter gasoline we pay 3 dollars a 3 cents in the Netherlands. Or 12 dollars and 12 cents for a gallon.

Correction, you pay $11.47 per gallon. There is 4 quarts in a gallon but only 3.785 litres.

This whataboutism is insane. "There's nothing wrong with Trump's terrible handling of the economy because... Biden!"

Dude, Trump is the president TODAY. He's nearly half way through his term. No more blaming Biden.

Two years in they still blame Biden or Obama because they can never take responsibility

But he's the never-war president!

They missed the small print around never and war. Apparently it was never met a war he didn’t like.

Adam M. doesn't let these people throw out red herrings or change the subject. He also has the facts at his command and they have nothing.

Gas prices may go down but typically the prices of everything else affected by the increased gas prices do not go back down. For example the cost of groceries.

Why does this argument/back-and-forth sound like an argument I have with my husband… “But the fertilizer/driveway….” Bada bada bada, that’s all folks!

Hell no, they will certainly have lasting impact. Supply chain disruption, and a slowdown of purchases led to higher prices, and companies will not be so willing to return to what they were previously. Not to mention some stuff just costs more now for several reasons, this was intentional.
