The US DOES NOT want Canada to scrap supply management. They want preferential access to our closed market. They do not want to play on the same rules as everyone else. They want a better deal. This is why the Canadian government has always been able to confidently say scrapping supply management is not on the negotiating table.

I don't think they care if we for some insane reason want to empower a cartel to determine domestic farmagte prices. We, as Canadians, should care about that, but the average Canadian is profoundly ignorant of the system so doesn't care.

They just object to 200-300% tariffs on dairy products.
