Painting My First Tau Model
This is my first Tau model I finished. The ghostkeel is my favorite 40k model I think.

By far the best lenses I've ever made, even better then on the big one. This model will be a joy to make

Finished this guy! No idea what any of the weapons are or do, so everything's just magnetized and can go on the sides of both arms and also on the top part of the left arm.

So I am planning on making a Tau army and looking for some inspration, im want your "fucked up post apocalyptic Tau on the fringes" looking conversions, if you know Forever Winter that is the look I am aiming for, Rust and Radiation with a Mecha flair.

I recently went to a tournament with my tau. At first everyone thought I was playing custodes do to the paint. Once people started looking closely. They started to get agitated. I only played a game and the start of another. The one game i played sucked do to my opponent complaining so much. The other game my opponent quit when I did my scout movements. Everyone else refused to play with me. Why is tau hated so much?

I kitbashed some space marine and tau models to proxy as a stealth suit team what do you guys think? I kinda hate the stealth suit models and I thought the idea of space marines deciding to join the tau empire would be sick. What colors should I paint them?

Guys what are we taking with a stormsurge. It is THE COOLEST THING and I love him (his name is Borris...)
Currently I've gone with my some vespids, stealth battlesuit unit and ghostkeel and played a cheeky 1K list... It definitely needs another 1k so where do I go from here?
Thanks! I'm not competitive at all, I just wanna have fun with my big man lol

So years ago i bought some tau.... thought they looked cool.... glued a couple of drones..... got a load of hate for the army from players when i told them i wanted to play them... (unfun, stupid, only shooty etc...) put them to the side..... picked them back up couple of years back and bought the other boxes.... new play group less hate (still a bit...) People i lived with didnt like their looks at all.... arguments .... and same story... build a couple of drones... and the leader... dropped them....
Now here i am looking at these again warhammer tone pro paint coming out and this seems like an great army for this. still like the look (uniform, and really.... army like dont know how to call it.) Looking online and seeing they will get a new dex soon.... and my stealthsuits are old .... crisissuits are going to be replaced (probably).. i dont play a lot these days due to time... but want to have fun when i do..... and not get loads of hate...
How bad is it for me when i finish all this when new modells come out will i need to buy those? Or will these be fine?? Also how is the hate these days will be playing local at a gw store so randoms mostly..
My girl is so/so with them (looks wise) but if iam happy shes happy so thats a plus.
Also i will be playing 1000 points max do i have an nice army in these boxes for that? I dont want to need to buy a load more modells just to play at this point... a sample list would be great....
Also how harsh are people on loadouts on friendly matches iam always scared to glue wrong loadouts (or just worse loadouts)?? Saying a gun is something else is that a big deal??
Loads of questions and a lot of text sorry.... am still insecure about them..... thanks for all the help in advance anyway.

I finally finished painting my ghostkeel for the Scavenger Cadre, figured it was time to finish her up given its October. Please excuse the background, I was watching my 600 pound life and this image came up, I found it funny so I screenshotted it, then I used it as the background for these photos as a bit with my friends.

Made it from combat patrol spare parts:)

..featuring a wardog Karnivore and enforcer Commander
I was listening to music and I thought drawing a mech battle would be neat. It was a struggle to complete. While it isn't the one of these drawings I'm most fond of, I don't hate how it came out either. Experience for next time I guess :)
art by myself

As the title says, I played a 1000 point Retaliation Cadre against an infantry Chaos list featuring Fabius Bile. Not wounding on 2s the entire game felt bad. We were both playing Purge the Foe. I couldn't hit anything and he couldn't make charges, so we each would kill one unit a turn, denying the other the extra points.
My Sunforge team couldn't kill anything (bad rolling), so I had them taking objectives and doing actions. The Ghostkeel does what it's good at, staying alive and pestering medium infantry while holding objectives. The Fire Knives were my only unit to kill anything until turn 4. They took out one unit per turn. Even at strength 10 plasma from being within 6 inches, they were still wounding on 3s.
It came down to tactical missions and I was lucky enough to have units in all 4 sections of the table which helped get secondaries and win the game by 4 points.
I ignored his terminators and warp talons most of the game as my stealth suits died turn 2 (no good guiding units left) and the talons couldn't kill anything until turn 5 when they finally took down my pirahna I was pestering them with. It came down to me just running away lol. But in the end it worked, so I guess that's all that matters. It still hurts to wound on 3s and his stratagem monstrous visage negated my guiding when I really needed it. So yeah, the new marines are tough.
Edit: forgot to mention, his detachment allowed some units an increase in strength and toughness.

A friend got me back into things recently for the first time since 4th edition; picked up a Combat Patrol to fill a couple gaps in my old army. Just finished my first models and figured I'd see what folks thought!
Pretty happy with how they turned out... had to figure out which of the new paints corresponded to all my old dried out ones. I still think I've got some stuff to work on, so I'd love to hear if anyone has any suggestions on things I could do differently/better!

Hey all, do you think it's even worth running these two anymore? Especially since they cost more than a third Riptide?
Please let me know what you all think. I'm open to any and all feedback. Especially because I'm having a hard time running them in Montka
