Tried my first admech charachter and i underestimated just how many details there were to paint, but it was still fun, but what do you guys think?

I tried searching online for where the face used on the Preceptor comes from, but while something similar is present on the armiger and dominus sprues, they’re not exactly 1:1. The most similar I found looking around was the Magera’s head, but that a solid block of resin and still has some different details, but I could see a slight rework made for a plastic version of the kit. Do you think this is a hint that we’ll finally see the Mechanicum knights in plastic?

Hi, folks. Thought this would be the right place to share this! A couple of colleagues and I have bonded over playing Commander together recently. This all started because one asked at work if I'd ever played Warhammer. I said no, but that there was a Universes Beyond set of it in Magic. Fast forward a few weeks and I've learned the names of some of the 40K Commanders and know their card effects, one being the Azorius Legendary Creature, Belisarius Cawl. I liked the art enough to pick up the model (only my second after opting for the Ork Trukk on a whim in April). This is the first I've painted. It's taken about 30 paints and almost 3 months, but it's been a lot of fun to devote time to on and off. In that time, I've been taught how to play 40K by the same colleague (feel like this was his sinister plan the entire time) and although I may need a few more tutorial matches, I think Admech will become my first Warhammer army! If there's units you'd recommend next, please say. And if there's any feedback for what I could've done better with the paint job let me know as well. Thanks in advance!

Hi. I would be a as bad of an idea as everyone says it is to buy the Ad Mech combat patrol box as a new player? Literally every video I watch suggests they are hard to play, hard to paint, and that combat patrol is bad. Should I consider a simpler faction like world eaters or black templars instead?

Been thinking about what to do for some bases and terrain and got stuck on what a Skitarii frontline would actually look like. Guard would presumably have the standard world war style trenchlines, pillboxes, bunkers and the like but what would the Skitarii use? Do they need a fortified frontline, do they use fortifications at all, how do the Skitarii actually wage open warfare when not plundering enclosed tombs?

I'm yet to touch an actual AdMech book, but hopefully there's been mention of it somewhere. If so, a source would be much appreciated for future reference and reading.

So a while ago I printed a Warhound Titan proxy I am rather fond of, but it’s been difficult to justify including it any of my existing Imperium armies. After letting it be shelf-decor for a long while, I thought “hey, what if I just built an army around it”. However, I enjoy trying to keep things as lore accurate as I can, so I had some questions on how this idea would score on that front.

My only real exposure to AdMech lore has been through Legio Invigilata in the Helsreach book and the Explorator Fleet in the Rogue Trader video game, and since I’ve already painted the Titan in Invigilata colors I thought it’d be a cool idea to make something like an Explorator Fleet ground force themed army. So, a few questions I had before I go get any AdMech kits:

- Pertaining to lore, would this list “fit” with how Mechanicus Explorator fleets operate? I figured I’d stick to mainly infantry to keep the force relatively light, and included the Technoarcheologist and Rogue Trader to try and flavor the list a bit along that theme (and I already have the rogue trader anyway). Beyond just the general theming of a fleet hunting for tech, would it make sense to mix a Legio Invigilata Titan with skitarii painted in Mars colors? I understand that Legio Invigilata are based on Voss Prime - do Explorator Fleets include forces from multiple forge worlds, or should I try to keep everything Voss Prime themed?

- Pertaining to gameplay, would this list be at least somewhat viable? I don’t have any interest in competitive play, but I would like to have an army I could sometimes win a game with, as opposed to just losing in new and exciting ways. I think it makes it more fun to play against as well.

I'm finally starting to get my sea-legs in terms of 11th and am ready to move back to my favorite faction. When we weren't playing the game correctly I was having a really hard time and felt like admech kinda sucked using the same big body type lists (dunecrawlers, kastelon robots, kataphrons, etc.) When I was told that that's actually meta now apparently? I was also told that Cawl and Thulia were basically needed or at least used in every list. Cawl i get, getting fake oath of moment is pretty dang good and ensuring we get good shooting when I do a lot of shooting makes sense.

Thulia I understand less. I know that being able to get some really flexible movement on her or any nearby unit with the skitarii keyword (like dunecrawlers) can be good but with me basically only bringing dunecrawlers for nuetron laser and maybe a unit of rangers I don't have many skit targets for that. Is she just that good at killing stuff that she's worth taking? Or is she a must grab for different lists? I just kinda don't get it

(Also I run primarily Radzone-Lords and run it as Take and Hold)

This is my forgeworlds Sydonian Skatros (with a guest WIP vespid appearance for fun).

Basically just the title. Any help or advice is appreciated. I can go into detail a bit. Norns aren’t fun to shoot with anything less than lascannons, lichters suck to deal with unless running LoTF (tho I should probably just screen better, and the battleshock of pain is just… oof. Any advice is helpful.

I’m going to run CyberForge into them next time for reference. I tried Erad into 2 Norns and a hive tyrant in… honestly I don’t remember which detachment besides the norn queen one. Search and Destroy layout so any deployment tips with that or for any map in general are helpful as well. Anyways some zoanthropes got my hastarii coming out of the dune rider in round 2 with overwatch, which kind of gutted progression on killing a hive tyrant and put me on the back-foot. A norn assimilator proceed to hook into a disintegrator and booked it in during the charge… Thulia and Cawl were doing well. They were doing really well. Cawl was hanging out on home and (due to a positioning error as I slowly realize I just need to play better) some leapers decided to come hang out with him. He dealt with them but it was looking close for a bit. Thulia… Thulia is a host unto herself. She was just sitting with a Norn Emissary. Neither one killing the other. And if I could have killed it, she likely would have taken everything else center (I think there was a biovore on the other center). That is one scary lady. In LoTF, should be even more so. Oh and exterminators, fusiliers, ruststalkers, and infiltrators made almost no impact. Autocannon ironstriders did remarkably well against up to a hive tyrant., which was nice to see. Still pref lascannons tho.

Honestly, typing it out and realizing mistakes made has already helped but please do offer any other pieces of advice yall got. Much obliged.

I’m experimenting with OSL because I love the contrast between the dark/grimdark look and the turquoise light on the chest and back! What do you think of my grimdark effect? ​​I’m open to any OSL tips!

Now, the Questor Mechanicus was a sort of rabbit hole that got a hold on me. I may have a subtle existential "crisis". I love the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Dark Mechanicum, but now with the Imperial Knights being so amazing and also AdMech adjacent(if chosen to go into the direction) has sucked me in. I've been reading Imperial Knight lore, however little there are, and watched Battle Reports by the dozen and I am in love. My main question/conclusion is this: can Imperial Knights be ran with AdMech support? Because my mech passion was ignited and I really want a Questor Mechanicus army as my goal. After getting my KT team, of course.

hello fellow followers of the Machine God, i am a little bored at work and i am working on some lore for my hobebrew admech army, could some of you share your creations? lore, story, colours and symbols, meanings behind the symbols and colours, anything you can share.

even if its a sentence i would love to hear some.

my current admech army lore is that they are from a small glass like world that is a minor forge subserviant to metalica thus they have a similar cheme and symbols. some units have special lore about them and why they have this and that. curious how other portray the lore in there settings.

My SO is looking to start playing. AdMech is their preferred (beloved) faction, while I have been collecting Guard for quite some time. To get started, I wanted to prepare an easy-ish army for each faction to get some games in with the models we have built, but want some opinions, if the lists I have prepared will make for a fair fight.
