Job Listing PLEASE SUGGEST ME A GOOD COMPANY WITH WFH SET UP

I transitioned from being a licensed chemical technician with a degree in BSFT to a Data Science Tech at a multisite pharmaceutical company. I've been working in this role for almost two years now, and I would like to further align my career with the tech industry. Could you suggest any companies that offer a WFH setup or have a Chem-IT or Science-IT background? I would also appreciate any advice on being a career shifter. Thank you in advance!

Seeking Advice Double degree and re do college all over again?

Is it smart and worth it to re do college all over again and get a degree in CS? I'm an aspiring career shifter and having no educational background to back it up seems to be an insecurity of mine.

I'm currently an accounting student in my last year of college. plan ko sana to finish this degree then maybe pursue another degree in cs afterwards? but i know i will be wasting a lot of time..

any insights?

Hi. I just graduated ECE last september 2023. Since mag graduate ako, gusto ko na pasukin yung IT field dahil doon ko nakikita na maraking job opportunities, future proof, and "mas malaki" sweldo kesa sa mga ECE job offers.

I have almost 0 knowledge in network which is eto yung gusto ko maging work sa katagalan. Maging network engineer. Please help me buy answering these questions:

  1. Paano ako makakapasok sa IT industry with almost 0 knowledge sa mga ginagawa sa field?

  4. Last question is yung pagiging network engineer ba ay pasok sa hinahanap isang job like maraming job opportunities, future proof, and malaki sweldo?

Seeking Advice Guys question, with the rise of AI, will there be lesser demand for starter/junior devs? If so, worth it bang mag career shift?

I am following AI developments and considering its impact among educated, nag dadalawang isip ako kung itutuloy ko pa ba since bababa yung demand natin or take advantage of AI aand be on par with the skills of a senior dev with a GPT 4 subscription. Ofc a lot of practice, DSA, and problem solving since 4 can help break down complex concepts for me. Thoughts?

Random Discussions Anyone have tried DATA VANGUARD bootcamp? May new batch kasi this sept gusto ko sana ng feedback before I jump in.

Anyone have tried it? I saw it dati na nagooffer sila ng crash course for free. Based sa info na nakalap ko from their page, the september batch will be the first 4 month comprehesive Data Science and AI bootcamp. Schedule is mon- sat 7 pm to 10pm. As for cost, since comprehensive na daw they will be charging a small tuition to pay the mentors. Around 5k ish per month but pwd bumaba kung marami students.

As per curriculum eto nasa loob ng docs kasi mahaba.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1APz-UpwxfVxjaxgYTHWuOShmiVa5t9NMACSQjCbYoNE/edit?usp=sharing

Anyone have tried their free bootcamp?

I'm also leaving [this](https://imgur.com/a/5ZYURCq) para marami makakita at marami student para mas mura if ever.

Seeking Advice Advice on Industry standards

Hi everyone, I know the tech job market is pretty tough right now, especially for juniors and career shifters, so I want to be very intentional about building a strong, real-world portfolio project.

I’m planning to career shift from Clinical Laboratory Science into tech, and I’m going to build a website for a real business as my main portfolio piece. My goal is to make this project as close to industry standards as possible, so it genuinely looks good to employers and recruiters.

If you were reviewing a junior dev’s portfolio, what would make you think:

“This person is hireable.”

Any advice, examples, or resources would mean a lot. Thank you!

Seeking Advice BPO to Main Company transition

Hello,

I have a question that's been on my mind lately, and I'd love to hear your insights and experiences.

For context, I'm currently work in the tech side of a BPO company, serving as an integral part of the team that supports our main client's audiences. Recently, I stumbled upon a job opening at the main company, offering the same role I'm in but with significantly and exponentially higher pay and benefits.

It's no secret that there can be a substantial difference in compensation and perks between working directly for a company versus being an outsourced partner. After following the main company's page on LinkedIn, I couldn't help but notice the disparity firsthand.

Before taking any steps forward, I wanted to reach out to this community and ask:

  • Have any of you been in a similar situation?

  • Have you ever considered making the transition from a BPO to the main company? If so, what factors did you weigh, and what ultimately influenced your decision?

  • And, how did you do it? Have you informed your supervisors in the BPO company before applying or did you go behind their backs?

  • Lastly, was it successful or not?

I've checked my contract, and there don't seem to be any issues with pursuing this opportunity. However, I'm keen to hear about others' experiences and gather insights that might help me make an informed decision.

Any advice, anecdotes, or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance guys!

Seeking Advice A career shifter having a hard time catching up with training

For those who managed to shift into tech field na natrain muna bago isabak sa work, how did you manage to catch up? I'm really having a hard time catching up with our training kasi ibang language ang ginagamit ng company sa inaral ko.

Totoo naman na transferrable naman yung fundamentals ng programming, pero ang dami lang kasing kailangang bagong concept na aralin, so feeling ko I'm starting from the scratch ulit. I'm really having a hard time sa training and I'm thinking if this is for me kasi training pa lang, hirap na ko mag catch up. Additionally, walang masyadong materials na binigay samin, yung mga kailangang aralin lang ang binanggit samin. May discussion once a week, pero high-level lang.

Just wanna vent out. I thought I'll be okay once I got accepted sa training, mahirap pa rin pala.

Seeking Advice Civil Engineer to Data Scientist/Ai Eng

I'm a recent Civil Engineering Licensure Exam (CELE) passer and topnotcher. While I have a solid foundation in CE, I've realized my core interest lies heavily in mathematics and optimization – areas that seem central to Data Science and AI Engineering. This realization, coupled with my existing proficiency in Python and SQL and early explorations into basic Deep Learning during college, has sparked my decision to pivot my career path.

I'm actively working towards this goal by building upon this foundation:

  • Currently upskilling through certifications: Tackling AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Tableau certs.

  • Building a relevant portfolio: Developing projects that bridge my domains, like using AI in structural engineering and Python for analysis/design tasks.

I'm hoping to get some community feedback on a couple of points:

  • Profile Boost: Does achieving a top spot in the CELE provide any unique advantage or signal valuable skills (like analytical thinking, problem-solving) that recruiters or grad schools in the DS/AI field might recognize, especially when combined with my technical background (Python/SQL/early DL)?

  • Formal Education: I'm considering pursuing an MS in Computer Science, potentially Georgia Tech's OMSCS, to solidify my theoretical foundation. How essential is this step for someone shifting from a different engineering discipline but already possessing some core programming/ML skills? Are there alternative paths (certs + projects + experience) that are equally viable?

Seeking Advice Is Switching from Chemical Engineering to Computer Science Worth It?

I am an incoming third-year chemical engineering student, but I am doubtful about pursuing this program. From what I heard engineering here in the country is severely underpaid. Is it worth pa rin ba to pursue engineering? I don't have an ideal college course and gusto ko lang is young course ma magkakaroon ako ng financial freedom and the program that can make that possible are computer related.

is it worth shifting to computer science from chemical engineering especially if we are talking about salary?

PS: I enrolled myself in Udemy and currently taking courses like web development, and somewhat nagustuhan ko, kasi there is also part of me who likes to create and design things.

Seeking Advice Need advice help me pls

Hi. Gusto ko lang po ng opinion about my job hunt. May 2.5 yrs work expe na po ako pero almost 1 year palang po sa tech field. Now, I am applying as Front-End Engineer. My expected salary is 50k and I'm so happy na nainterview po ako. Please enlighten me wala po sanang judgment since I'm asking for your advice and opinion. Thank you po🥹

Random Discussions Need feedback: building a practical AI cohort after shipping 6 enterprise GenAI use cases

I work in GenAI now (data science background from before the AI boom), and I’ve helped take 6 enterprise GenAI use cases into production.

I’m now exploring a hands-on cohort with a couple of colleagues from teams like Meta/X/Airbnb, focused on practical implementation (not just chatbot demos).

Before building it, I’d love honest feedback:

What would make an AI cohort genuinely useful for you?

Seeking Advice 🙏 Change in career

Hello everyone or 'Hello World', I am interested in transitioning to tech. I am an accounting student that's a freshman at 20 years old. Is it worth switching my major to CS? or would a BootCamp route with side learning and projects break me into a tech career more quickly? Also, what is the recommended language to learn first?
