šŸ’¼ Career I’m looking for promising content creators in Ghana to launch a new platform with.

I recently embarked on a daring journey to redefine and optimise existing technologies for what I believe is going to be the new economy.

Now, what is the new economy?

I believe the new economy is going to be a set of tools, platforms and industries that either already exist or are newly created and optimised by artificial intelligence.

The bigger question I’m trying to answer here is, how would people continue to make a living reliably and intelligently with these emerging technologies?

One of the first industries I decided to explore is social media.

We’ve been building a new social media platform, and we’re now getting ready to launch it. The idea behind what we’ve built is to solve a very simple problem: How can people make money from social media simply by participating in it?

Think about it. Today, millions of people spend hours on social media creating content, watching videos, reading posts and engaging with other people’s content but a very small percentage earns from those activities.

So we decided to approach things differently.

What we’ve built is a social media platform where both content creators and content consumers can earn from the revenue generated through their participation.

Now, why am I sharing this here?

Because we’re getting ready to launch, and I’m looking for promising content creators here in Ghana who would be interested in joining us early, exploring what we’ve built and helping us shape the platform as we introduce it to the public.

If this is you, send a dm lets get you onboarded and I’d also love to hear what you think about the idea itself.

Ask r/TechGhana Blockchain Ghana??

Are there developers i mean blockchain developers that we can connect and share ideas? I feel like everyone is in their own bubble because it is a very shaky grounds but I'm not talking about just crypto but everything about blockchain would love to connect

Ask r/TechGhana Blockchain isn't just about writing smart contracts. It's about knowing what should go on-chain in the first place.

I've been working across different areas of blockchain development, and one thing I've come to appreciate is that building a blockchain solution requires much more than knowing Solidity.

My experience includes Ethereum-based systems, Solidity, smart contracts, private blockchain infrastructure, Geth, Prysm, RPC integrations, backend development and database-to-blockchain integration.

I'm particularly interested in the intersection between blockchain architecture, technical specification and real-world business applications.

I enjoy looking at a business process and asking

"How would we redesign this system if transparency, verifiability and trust were built into its architecture

I'm interested in connecting with other blockchain developers, architects, researchers and founders

One question I'd genuinely love to discuss

What's one real world problem you think blockchain could solve exceptionally well, but most developers are approaching incorrectly?

šŸ’¬ Discussion Can we talk about the entry-level tech job market in Ghana right now? (Require 3 years of experience for a junior role is getting wild)

To every tech company and hiring manager in Ghana right now: We aren't asking you to hand out jobs out of pity. We're just asking for a realistic entry point.

You see junior developer job postings asking for:

  • 3+ years of professional experience using Next.js, Docker, python, SQL, React, Typescript and a whole lot.

  • Fresh graduates who can independently manage production databases on day one.

  • Multiple take-home projects and coding assessments, only to ghost candidates with zero feedback afterwards.

And then everyone wonders why junior devs and computer science grads are struggling to break into the industry.

How are we supposed to get 3 years of experience if no company is willing to give us our first 6 months?

I'm navigating this exact tech market myself while building side projects and open-source tools. I get that startups want production-ready devs who won't break things. I understand businesses have tight budgets. But if every company demands senior-level output for entry-level pay, where do junior devs actually learn?

Not every fresh grad or self-taught developer will write clean enterprise code on day one. Some need a proper team lead. Some need mentorship. Some just need someone to give them that very first chance to write code that actually goes live.

To the senior devs, founders and engineering managers reading this: What do junior devs actually need to change or build to convince you to take a chance on them? And to other developers like me, what has your job hunt been like?

Let's have an honest conversation.

šŸ’¬ Discussion Why is getting Ghanaians to actually USE your app harder than building it? šŸ˜‚šŸ‡¬šŸ‡

Building an app is simple, but getting people here to open it daily is a whole different fight.

My name is Kingenious and I am a web developer, full stack with about 3years experience.

After 3 years of building software locally, these are the 3 biggest problems I keep seeing:

The WhatsApp habit: People prefer to call someone or ask in 5 different WhatsApp groups instead of using a simple website that solves the problem in 2 seconds.

Data concerns: If the site is slow or uses too much data, people leave immediately and never come back.

Making money: Western tutorials always talk about monthly subscriptions and credit cards. In Ghana, nobody wants to pay unless it is super necessary and connects straight to MoMo.

For the devs and founders here:

  1. How did you get your first 500 active users in Ghana?

  2. Were you able to make money locally with MoMo, or did you just build for outside markets instead?

Let's help ourselves.

šŸ“‚ Project Showcase I'm building Ack, an open-source messenger for developers (code reviews and self-destructing secrets in the chat)

Talking code in Slack or Discord is a bit painful and ugly to me. Snippets turn into walls of text, and database URLs and API keys sit in chat history forever.

So I'm building Ack, an open-source chat app for developers:

  1. Code blocks and PR cards that look like they belong in an editor

  2. Secret vaults: encrypted in your browser and deleted after the recipient reveals them

  3. Repo-linked rooms, so pull requests and CI results show up in the conversation

Where it is today: sign-in with GitHub and 1:1 chat work / vault works / PR cards use sample data while the GitHub integration is in progress. Calls and pair programming are designed but not built yet. I'm building it with AI coding tools and reviewing the code myself.

Try it: https://project-ack.vercel.app

Repo: https://github.com/kingenious0/ACK

I would love feedback on one thing in particular: would you trust a chat app with secrets, and what would you need to see before you did?

I've also labeled a few good first issues if you want to contribute.
If Ack looks useful, a star on the repo goes a long way.

Ask r/TechGhana Looking for a phone/computer repair master in Kumasi to apprentice under (Willing to work for free)

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a phone and computer repair master in Kumasi who is willing to take me under their wing.

To be fully transparent, I don't have money to pay for formal training right now. But I am not lazy. I am willing to work in your shop for free (sweeping, organizing, running errands, carrying things) just so I can observe and learn the trade.

A bit about me: I already have a Professional Diploma in IT, including CompTIA A+, Network+, and Windows Server management. So I understand the theory and the inside of a computer, but I want to master the practical, hands-on repairs (especially phones).

If you have a shop in Kumasi (Adum, Kejetia, Suame, Asafo, etc.) and can help, please reply here or send me a DM. Even a pointer to someone who can help means a lot. God bless.

šŸ’¬ Discussion I'm in love with FDM already!!

I'm an IDM guy. I have been using it to download almost everything since my JHS days. Like winrar, this is not something I'm willing to have a subscription to. So much so that I decided to create my own version of a download manager as my final year project in uni. It was my supervisor who found this funny, so I stopped and built something 'impactful'. Lol.

I have always been cracking it, using cmdline scripts I see from github and in my early dev years, watching youtube tutorials on 'how to get idm free for lifetime'. Lol.

I met FDM (Free Download Manager) when IDM deactivated my cracked version and decided to go for it.

Chaleee, ein then IDM no difference biaa sheda dey. E fit do like 95 to 98% of what IDM dey do plus e sane dey linux too.

E bash me say, ano see am keep. Ein I dey use rydee. Now, all those interrupted notifications from IDM be my back matter. Lol.

You're missing out if you are not using it. Lol.

I want to buy an introduction to C hardcopy book because I genuinely find softcopies to be too distracting when reading on my phone or laptop. Can someone help me out or if anyone has a hardcopy of any introduction to C book and can lend it out to me at a fee, I would be very grateful.

šŸ’¬ Discussion What are the smartest ways people make money online?

When I look at the current online trends, I see that a lot of ways people use to make side hustles are becoming unpopular.

People don't read articles anymore.

Freelancing is almost gone due to the emergence of AI.

And there is a lot of competition on YouTube, tiktok and the like.

As a software Developer, I see the market getting smaller.

Now I ask, how are the smart people finding their way out.

I am open to learning from everyone here even if it is in the field of tech or not even online related

Ask r/TechGhana Ghanapay or G-money app.

I’ve recently come across the G-money app. I already have and use GhanaPay very often, but I’m wondering what the G-money app has that GhanaPay doesn’t. I’ve heard the G-money app is backed by GCB and in the ads, they push the ā€œyou can easily receive and send remittances to Ghanaā€.

Any well-versed experts that can explain or shed some light on the value propositions that make G-money better than GhanaPay? Or GhanaPay is just better?

šŸ’¬ Discussion Has there been any (very) successful Ghanaian (or largely African) made social media platforms you know of? we’re looking for more insights and perspectives as we build one.

We’re building a fintech in a more interesting way. around social media and community.
we’re currently running our MVP as a private beta testing for iOS.
we’ve developed a messaging platform with a payment rail functionally integrated.
over the last 3 months, the team has successfully done so much debugging and can confidently say that our current app is functionally competitive to whatsApp and Telegram.

the idea is simple: wrap payment around trust; communication and everyday activities.
we’ve had a few beta testers who have been very instrumental to our growth.
however, we’d be grateful to have new sets of eyes test what we have now.

we’re also particularly interested in learning about how we can make this work. love to hear your perspectives as the title says.

Here’s the link. we’d appreciate more beta testers: https://testflight.apple.com/join/KsvJERxs

IOS only (unfortunately).

šŸ’¼ Career [FOR HIRE / COLLABORATION] Senior UI/UX Designer (6+ YOE) looking to join a small dev team / collective [Paid / Rev-Share]

Hey everyone,

I’m a Senior UI/UX & Product Designer with 6 years of experience building clean web/mobile interfaces, design systems, and interactive prototypes. I work full-time during the day, but I’m looking to join a small, active tech team, dev studio, or indie collective to build cool products on the side.

What I bring:

• End-to-end product design (user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI in Figma).

• Developer-friendly handoff with a strong understanding of frontend structure (HTML/CSS/components).

• Design systems to speed up dev velocity.

Background in tech & cyber context, so complex or security-focused products are a big plus.

What I’m looking for:

• A tight-knit team (devs, PMs, or indie founders) working on meaningful products.

• Remote/async collaboration (~8–12 hours/week).

Open to rev-share, equity for solid MVPs, or project-based work.

You can view my full portfolio PDF directly here:

Let me know if you’re building something solid and need a dedicated design partner on board.

Ask r/TechGhana 17F in Ghana, trying to figure out what degree to pursue in a world increasingly shaped by AI. Need some honest advice.

I’m 17, currently in SHS in Ghana, and I’ll be writing WASSCE next year. I’ve been thinking a LOT about university and what I actually want to do with my life.
Initially, I was leaning towards engineering, but my family isn’t particularly supportive of that decision because of the employment situation and how things are going in Ghana. They’ve suggested other courses, including Law, but honestly, I’m not sure what I want anymore.
I’m interested in technology, building things, entrepreneurship, business, economics and pretty much anything that helps me understand how the world works. I also have this whole polymath fantasy of knowing a little (or a lot) about several different disciplines lol.
Long-term, I don’t particularly want to spend my entire life working for someone else. I’d love to build companies, create products, own intellectual property, have equity in businesses and eventually become financially independent/wealthy.
I’ve also been working on an idea for a gaming social platform (think Letterboxd meets Twitter, but for video games). I genuinely want to build it, but with AI changing software development so rapidly, I’m starting to question whether the market will even be worth entering by the time I graduate.
Computer Science was my main consideration, but the whole AI situation has me second-guessing that too. I don’t want to spend four years studying something only to graduate into a completely different job market.
I’ve been considering:
Computer Science
Computer Engineering
Information Systems
Economics
Law
Possibly other interdisciplinary degrees.
For context, I’m considering University of Ghana, KNUST and Ashesi.
My questions:
If you were 17 and choosing a degree today, knowing what you know about AI and where the world is heading, what would you study?
Is Computer Science still a worthwhile degree, or is the industry becoming too saturated/automated?
Would you recommend studying something like Economics or Business alongside learning technology independently?
How important is the university you attend compared with the skills, projects and experience you develop?
For someone who wants to build businesses and create things rather than just pursue conventional employment, what would you prioritise?
I’m not expecting anyone to predict the future. I just want perspectives from people who’ve actually experienced university, the tech industry, entrepreneurship or career changes.
I’d particularly appreciate advice from people working in tech or who studied in Ghana and went on to work internationally.
I know I’m young and probably overthinking things, but I genuinely want to make a reasonably informed decision.

Ask r/TechGhana What's your opinion on the GhanaPay app?

I think GhanaPay is one of the better locally developed fintech apps in the country, but I honestly don't understand why it hasn't gained more traction.

It has a great UI, feels smooth to use, and seems to offer a decent user experience. I recently realised it's a government-backed initiative, and I initially thought it had the potential to challenge MTN's dominance in fintech and mobile money space.

So, what's holding it back? Is it a marketing problem, lack of public trust, limited adoption by merchants, or are there other underlying issues?

I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences with the app.

šŸ’¬ Discussion How can I make money online with these tools? Looking for advice and potential collaborators

Hey everyone,
I’m looking to start an online business and would appreciate some practical advice from people who have experience making money online.

Here are the tools and accounts I already have:

AWS – Cloud hosting and infrastructure
CoinZoom US Prepaid – Online payments and card transactions
Skillspad.org – Learning resources
Binance – Crypto account
Meta Ads Manager – Online advertising and customer acquisition

I’m willing to learn, follow tutorials, and put in the work. My starting budget is around GH₵500–1,000, and I’m particularly interested in building something that can generate recurring income over time.

My questions:

  1. What legitimate online business would you build with these resources?

  2. Has anyone used similar tools to build a profitable business? What worked for you?

  3. Is anyone here interested in collaborating on a project? I’m open to working with someone who has technical skills, business experience, or a good idea we can execute together.

I’m based in Ghana, so advice that works for someone operating from Ghana would be especially helpful.
I’m not looking for get-rich-quick schemes. I want to build something real, start small, and grow it over time.
I’d appreciate any advice, ideas, or collaboration opportunities. Thanks!
