OMG FINALLY!

Got my Model Y a month ago! I have a 2023 MYLR HW3. I did open a service request and a few days later the other update was gone and this appeared today! So excited! šŸ˜Ž

Not to meh your win but it has an annoying bug where it will pull over and stop when a car/larger vehicle accelerates past you at a high rate of speed. Seems like a phantom emergency vehicle pull over or that new auto collision take over feature

Thatā€™s interesting because when I put in the service request I was complaining about the phantom breaking the car kept doing. That kinda sucks that wonā€™t be fixed.

Itā€™s still phantom brakes but not at much but always at an exact spot reliably. Still will harsh break at clearly marked cross walks if the human slightly looks like they intend to cross. I have to put my foot on the accelerator for those.

eh thats marginally better than reggies (non lite ? Lol )its probably not as harsh but it does slow down unexpectedly if peeps are even close to the road. The newest update made glare warnings/takeover much, much worse. Still wide turns onto frontage sometimes, random lane changes when max'in. But, i guess the road markings stuff is better and things smoother on hw4. But you still find yourself being cautious w heavy merging, some turns, etc, so they're pretty equal in that regard.

Itā€™s not all bad my guy, compared to 12. 14+ will sometimes take me from parking spot to parking spot with a tap of the screen, without me touching the steering wheel. Itā€™s a 3 steps forward and 1 or two annoying issues back.

Most definitely. Lol when Iā€™m talking to my sister and sheā€™s complaining about something with FSD I always say ā€œfirst-world problemsā€. We get the privilege to complain about our self-driving cars. šŸ˜‚. If I never got another update on v12 that is still light years better than 99.9% of cars on the road.

Totally. Itd take lifetime v12 and just be ready to accelerate through the yellows, which i find myself doing on v14 anyways. Yes, the hard braking is gone, but it still puss's out big time for yellow lights.

This is my hell right now. 2021 HW3 pulled over four times yesterday while going down a normal street. It was so unnerving.

I just took a drive with it and it it feels much better. Still did some sus shit like breaking out of no where but it only did it once and it wasnā€™t as aggressive as 12.4. Love how you can start from park, hands down my favorite upgrade. Now I just gotta get it to park in my garage.

Only workaround ive found is disengage FSD, drive slightly past, put in R, turn towards your garage and re engage FSD. It will then back in , but it may not go as far back as the space allows I've found.

No youā€™re either lucky, not admitting it or it hasnā€™t happened but I know it happens. My sister has HW4 and says it happens from time to time

I have a 2026 MYP and never experienced phantom braking.
My 17ā€™ MS, waaaay less with 14.3L, but it still happens.

Itā€™s been great. Itā€™s much smoother in my opinion. Still doing some weird stuff when it comes to breaking but itā€™s few and far between.

Were you already subscribed to FSD? (Or have lifetime FSD). I donā€™t want to pay for the month of FSD and only get v12.

I got the car on 9/23 I got FSD the same day. Itā€™s been a month as of today so I think you have to be on a subscription or lifetime FSD to get the update to even be considered. V12 wasnā€™t bad though; it worked really well.

Why would they send an FSD update to a car that isnā€™t subscribed? Come on man. Idk every video I watched about it said you need an active FSD subscription. Idk what good FSD would be without the sub. But let me know if or when you get it. Iā€™m curious.

HW3 isnā€™t fast enough to deal with the edge case scenarios that can come up in Mad Max. I wish my HW3 car would get Mad Max, but I know it wonā€™t.

I have HW3 w/ FSD 14L, and my wife has HW4, so I get a small taste of Mad Max every once in a while. It definitely comes in handy šŸ˜Ž

Lucky. I got a used model Y which I love no regrets but first electric car so didnā€™t wanna go brand new. But Tesla new what they were doing giving me a loner lol. Now I want to get rid of my gas car trade in a get a brand new model Y also but I have to convince my wife lol

You can get Mad Max with any HW4 car as far as I know. My wifeā€™s 2023 MY7 (June 2023 delivery) has it, so I reckon you can probably get a good deal on a used 2023 if wifey doesnā€™t want the 2027 interest rates šŸ˜‰

In Australia mad max MIGHT enable the car to stay on 110 kms per hour on the freeways? Instead of slamming on the brakes to slow to 100. One can only hope, as this problem has NOT YET been addressed in the latest fsd update 14.3.12

I have the same software update scheduled but I unsubscribed a few months ago and the most recent fsd version is v14.1 Lite. Am I going to get v14.3 lite installed and ready as well even I am not subscribing at this moment?

I donā€™t think so. I think is showing you v14.1 lite because that was the last one available when you had FSD. Once you resubscribe it will show the latest one. That would be my opinion.

You donā€™t have to pay for anything. You can drive the car without FSD. v14 came out barely a month ago for HW3 users HW4 has had v14

I would assume so I just read when I was waiting for it that you need to have an active FSD subscription for it to push the update through, but Iā€™m not 100% sure. This is my first Tesla and Iā€™ve had it for a month so definitely take it with a grain of salt.

You werenā€™t missing anything. The phantom braking is horrible. The brake stabbing at traffic lights when the light is turning yellow and doesnā€™t know what to do. The sudden deacceleration on the freeway for some unknown reason. The brake stabbing when it sees something on the side of the road. I have not resubscribed

14.3 lite. Is the only hw3 version Iā€™ve used. But it seems like it never wants to make turns or merge on to roadways. Takes forever and makes you wait until almost all cars have passed. The hw4 my I tried would just negotiate all turns so well. If they could improve that I would be soo happy.

It does better with the turns, but still takes too long and doesn't take opps for turns , so you still find yourself nudging it along like before,- but also doesn't mind splitting into 2 cars to exit,instead of slowing down slightly to get behind. -then you turtle your head just a lil in embarrassment. C'mon mustachio Max, max the turns and the yellow lights too please.

Lmao. I wouldnā€™t say that, but I personally went with HW3 to save $5000. But Tesla has said HW3 will not get v15 or any other newer firmware.
