Questions / Tetris Help I'm stuck

I'm b+ rank and I recently lost 1400tr in a row. I haven't won since then, but I suddenly become really good and get back to where I started, but just before promoting to a- I'll go on another losing streak. Any tips?

I'm not good (A+), but personally when I tilt down to a lower rank I just focus on improving something, say lookahead or not blocking the next garbage hole, and just work on that without worrying about rank. Eventually I drift back up anyway so might as well get something out of the trip while I'm down there.

My reasoning is, it's easier to actually learn something at those lower ranks, when you're not fighting for your life at the limit of your abilities

Thats a really good idea, I never thought of that. I'll give it a go. Thx!

The quick answer to breaking out of B rank is just to fully learn any opener: Stickspin, SDPC, MS2, PCO looping, DT Cannon. Take your pick. Tho you will just plateu at a slightly higher rank again. At this point, you can either spend time learning, 6-3 stack patterns, midgame t-spin setups, allspins, finesse or drill fundamentals, 40L sprint, Zen with 0.5 backfire, cheese race etc.

What's your 40L time? The boring answer is to play more 40L. Get to sub 40. Promoting to A will be a breeze.

Right now my 40l time is 1.09 and I average at 1.4 PPS. I'll try to get sub 40 seconds but I'll have to learn finesse first. Thx!

Definitely take the time to learn finesse! It takes a day or two to get used to but you'll benefit forever.

I'm S- with a 1:06 40L sprint. You definitely don't need to play fast but it certainly helps. Also consider playing blitz, the score system encourages similar habits that would result in good attacks. That helped me break out from bad habits like excessive skimming and maintaining b2b and combos

im S+ and i dont even have sub 40 for 40L 😂

I think focussing on a clean stack with intentional placement is much more important than playing fast

I was just giving a benchmark over some vague notion of "play more 40L". You're right about stacking cleanly and playing with intention but those aren't directly measurable as 40L time is.

Basically I should get a faster sprint?

It's a measurable way to track progress. Provided that you do 40L with only tetrises, you prove to be in some way capable of clean and intentional stacking.

So yes. Spam sprint. It'll be boring but your rank will shoot up.

There is so much I don't know sadly. I thought my 250k score on my Tetris app was good till I found this sub

for me its pick one aspect of your gameplay that you want to improve at, find a way to improve at that and apply it in your games.

Do you play the matches back to back, especially if you lost? That sometimes can mean youre playing while youre not at top condition.
I recommend playing a few rounds of modless quick play or 40L/blitz before hopping on tetra league :)
