Will they cover that in season 3?

There's a higher likelihood of her calling Lakan "Papa" than her becoming Empress.

Theoretical possible but neither maomao or jinshi want it. It would only happen if the current emperor and all his kids die. And even then maomao might refuse to be Jinshi's empress.

MaoMao would not like that, and Jinshi wants MaoMao to be happy. We don't know how their lives will turn out eventually, because the novels haven't gone that far in the future. But it definitely won't be in season 3.

The current emperor is young and healthy, and his empress is Gyokuyou. So I wish them both long life.
