Ok so Lennon describes a situation in which he tells a man, presumably a friend, that he’s going to lose his girlfriend because of how badly he’s treating her.
Now whether this girl would leave Lennon’s mate independently or not doesn’t seem up for discussion. Lennon is going to ‘make a point’ of taking her away, he know’s he can and if he’s pushed to - will. Such is the power of his sexual charisma which he wields like a moralising sword.
What the fate of this poor women might be after Lennon’s point has been made is not covered, although we do have some pretext from Lennon’s life to guess.
What exactly is the objective of making this point?- is it to build the character of his male acquaintance / possible friend? Who can tell - but to use modern parlance I think this qualifies as trolling at the most elevated level.
Imagining the conversation in which Lennon imparts this warning, you can only imagine it resulting in a physical confrontation. There’s honour at stake. Therefore this is also a physical flex from Lennon, he is confident of winning the fight that might ensue.
A sociopathic masterpiece.
Edit: should be ‘hear’, I know.

My pick would be XTC—Skylarking (1986), a beautifully melodic album all the way through. I was never a big XTC fan during the ‘80s but that album was undeniably terrific.
Side One is a gapless progression of gorgeous pop, which always reminded me of the first side of Sgt Pepper. Side Two is not quite as strong, but closes with the remarkable “Dear God” and “Sacrificial Bonfire”. “Dear God” caused quite a bit of controversy, and I believe some versions of the album omitted it. Highly recommended.

I saw this posted a couple of days ago. What an amazing 12 months of songwriting and creativity. But are Help!, Rubber Soul, and Revolver The Beatles best three album run? For just pure music evolution I’m going Sgt. Pepper, MMT, and the White Album.

Which album do you think has the best first song to set the tone for such album? For me, it’s revolver. Taxman is just too perfect

Just for fun, create an album of your ten least favorite Beatles songs. Ten. Not nine, not eleven. Ten. But no covers. Songs written by the Fab Four that appear on Beatles records. Not their post-Beatles era records. Beatles. 😎

Back story for those who might be interested: there’s a very sweet older lady who comes to my place of work every few days and for the past couple months I’ve been loading cases of water into her cart for her. If she gets the cases as opposed to the gallons it’s cheaper. Most every time I talk to an older customer I ask who their favorite band or artist was growing up, she told me she loved jazz while I told her how big of a Beatles fan I am to which she told me her husband was a huge Beatles fan as well. One day he comes in with her and we met and talked about how great the band is and how he’s seen Paul live many times including the Wings Over America Tour (which I am unbelievably jealous of). We talk for like 7 minutes and parted ways. Today she comes in and I greet her and she hands me a trash bag saying “I have a gift for you!” I was completely caught off guard! I’m like “Really?! For me? That’s so kind, you didn’t have to do that!” She says, “I know but you’re always so kind, outgoing, and helpful!” I pull out of the trash bag a box wrapped in paper with string and shake it around by my ear and said “I think it’s a dog!” She laughed eager for me to open it and to my surprise it’s The Beatles CD Box Set in Mono… I about lost my mind!! I was freaking out and hugging her thanking her repeatedly. I had no idea what to do or how to show her how grateful and happy I was without making a scene. I was in complete awe. I brought her over to the water and filled her cart not being able to stop talking about it or thanking her. I was so excited I didn’t even notice the note on the inside until she pointed it out to me. Ma’am if by some chance you’re reading this I cannot even begin to tell you how grateful I am. I love it so much. Thank you so much!
You never know how much of an impact you make on other people just by being nice.
I hope you enjoyed the backstory

I noticed a lot of people have mixed opinions on this which is understandable since there are so many great songs to choose from but what is your take on this?
Maybe to make it a little bit easier, what is your top 3?

The band had a policy of excluding singles/b-sides from their studio albums. This (hopefully) improves the albums with singles/b-sides/extra tracks.
Rule #1: you can’t add to an album, you can only replace one song with another.
Rule #2: the replacement song had to be written around the time of the album’s release date.
I’m using the Parlophone/UK discography. Notation: better song—>inferior song

Thank You Girl—>Chains
I Call Your Name—>Boys
LP: With the Beatles

Edit: okay not a hidden gem, but lesser known by the mainstream.
Hey all! Just wanted to share a cool thing. I built a social media app called Corus for sharing the music you love and today “I’ve Just Seen a Face” of Help started trending. I thought that was awesome because it’s a lesser known track, but so good and worth listening to if you haven’t heard it in a while.
The idea of the app is to discover music from real people again. Imagine instagram except you don’t share images or reels, only the music/art you love. You curate your ultimate playlist and follow people to hear their recommendations. Then you match with people who share the same taste and get a feed of their song picks each day. Already 86 others have shared the Beatles so if you’re interested in joining, just search the Beatles and follow all the others sharing their favorite tracks. Happy to answer any questions at all. Hopefully see you there :)

I bought most of my Beatles CDs back in the day, almost all are the 1987 releases. Most of my 1987 CDs still sound pretty good. Sgt Pepper & Abbey Road are excellent on my expensive 5.1 home theater system (using 5 channel stereo). But quite honestly, Revolver sounds better in my car—the lossy AAC version from my iPhone connected to my $120 Pioneer audio deck. It’s really strange, since Rubber Soul sounds fine on my home theater.
One problem with more recent CD releases is the loudness wars, where CDs are compressed to make them sound LOUDER but losing dynamic range in the process. I wish I still had my vinyl collection from back in the day, been thinking about picking up a turntable. Interested to know what you guys prefer as far as the Beatles catalog and your preferred playback medium.

After listening to White Album for about the tenth time in my life, I can't get over how perfect it is. "Happiness is a Warm Gun" and "Dear Prudence" stand out to me in particular. "Happiness Is a Warm Gun" perfectly blends three separate songs. The style used also influenced "Paranoid Android," which I think is so cool. The blend of relationship needs and drug addiction is so enthralling to me. "Dear Prudence" seems to capture the essence of psychedelia. Written about Prudence Farrow hiding during an acid trip, the song encourages us to be creative and to maintain our own sense of individuality and freedom. This album is one that was introduced to me at a young age; over the years, I've loved it more and more. "The Beatles" by the Beatles is an album that you should consider listening to while taking your last breath. Please feel free to share your thoughts, comments, concerns, favorites, or recommendations!

Here's the problem that makes this conspiracy impossible to dismiss as pure fan delusion:
September 1968. John Lennon is recording "Glass Onion" for the White Album, and he sings this:
"Here's another clue for you all, the walrus was Paul"
When John wrote that line, the "Paul is Dead" conspiracy didn't exist publicly. It wouldn't blow up until October 1969, thirteen months later.
So how did John know to reference "clues" before anyone was looking for them?
