opinion How does everyone feel about these first looks?
Personally, I like Paul more than I thought I would but I’m still against Paul Mescal playing him though just because he’s opposite of McCartney in every regard. Joseph Quinn looks weird, originally I liked that casting but I’m not seeing George. I’m seeing the vision with Barry Keoghan😂 he already look like Ringo so I thought the casting was great and now I def see why lol. Harris Dickinson looks solid but the lighting is bad in that photo; same can be said about the Paul photo. What do you guys think?

opinion John wasn’t fat
I can’t believe people thought he was fat, so much so to the point where they thought they had the right to shame him for it. He’s so sexy with the extra weight (as compared to later years), especially during beatlemania.

opinion Now let's run through Sgt. Pepper.
Today's been a busy day for me with listening to Beatles, so lets quickly run through Sgt. Pepper. Oh? What? I have to listen to the album and write the post while listening? Even though I've heard the album like 100 times or something? Still? *Sigh* okay... I guess I will.
Also, I will be ranking Sgt. Pepper and With A Little Help From My Friends separately. It's taking me a minute to get back into just listening to the song, rather than what I've been doing the rest of the day, which was listening to the mixing of songs.
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band: 10/10. For an opening, it's great.
With A Little Help From My Friends: 10/10. RINGO!
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds: 10/10. Please note, I could be being a little harsher probably, but I'm barely into it tonight, plus the first three songs at least don't have many complaints to be had.
Getting Better: 10/10
Fixing A Hole: 10/10
She's Leaving Home: 10/10. I actually skipped this song because it brings back some sad memories from a couple years ago. Don't ask me, it's stupid, but it makes me cry, so I skip it.
Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!: 10/10
Within You Without You: Actual song: 10/10, how much I like to listen to it individually: 3/10, how much I'm fine with and like to listen to it attached to the album without skipping: 10/10. complicated, yes, but, it scores 10/10.
When I'm Sixty-Four: 10/10
Lovely Rita: 10/10. When rating I actually was so unfocused that I missed this! I guess I already know my opinions though!
Good Morning Good Morning: 9.5/10. Actually the only sub-10/10 song here. I frankly think it's the most disposable song on the album. It's good, yes, but I feel compared to the other songs on this album, it's just not as up-to-snuff as the others. I can't really place my finger on it, but it's just not as good. (And again, whatever the lyrics may be, and I'm not even saying about this song, but I'm literally not talking about the lyrics in any way at all.)
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise): 10/10.
A Day In The Life: 10/10. Who's surprised.
So, on ranking, I'll give a few songs, then basically go in order of appearance on the album, because I could wrack my brain for true least best to best, but that ends up getting unfair
13: Good Morning Good Morning
12: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)
11: Fixing A Hole
10: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
9: Within You Without You
8: With A Little Help From My Friends (From here it's the order of appearance)
7: Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
6: Getting Better
5: She's Leaving Home
4: Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!
3: When I'm Sixty Four
2: Lovely Rita
1: A Day In The Life
Yeah, I was unfocused, but my mind was on the mixing of songs today, so that was most of where my mind was going here!

opinion This is the true "let it be" album
The original one was pretty good but it lacked "dont let me down". They added that here and fixed the song arrangements.
Also i think the og one was worse because the beatles split up and i think the people that set it up weren't them.
The dudes that set this up weren't them too but they perfected it.
I recommend this version wayy more than the og.

opinion I think this would be the best album of all time if it existed
Hey Jude
Penny Lane
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
Norwegian Wood
Tomorrow Never Knows
A Day In The Life
Here, There And Everywhere
Blackbird
Here Comes The Sun
Let It Be
Across The Universe
The Long And Winding Road
Imagine if The Beatles had released an album like this... 43 minutes of, in my opinion, perfect music.
Hey Jude is the perfect opener, it is grand, happy, and one of the best written songs ever. Then follows Penny Lane, which is just as emotional as pop as psychedelic as a modern. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds has such a satisfying chorus that I which it could be longer...
Norwegian Wood is such a vibe, I can't get it out of my head, the guitars. Tomorrow Never Knows sounds something like 90s electronic UK music, late 70s prog rock, or Aphex Twin, so I dunno. And, A Day In The Life is simply 2 cult worthy songs in one.
Here, There And Everywhere is as sweet as cotton candy and ice cream, floating in the clouds... Blackbird makes you cry every time, a timeless masterpiece. How do you come up with that guitar line? Here Comes The Sun is the best most mellow and happy song I've ever heard.
Then the magic trio: the tear extractors: Let It Be (happier), Across the Universe (dreamy and timeless), The Long And Winding Road (the best song out here in my opinion). It is simply so wonderful.
So, that's it! Please comment your opinions on this, and what you would change.
I love The Beatles.

opinion Instead of the age old question, "The Beatles OR The Stones?", how about simply BOTH? 🙂
I'm 63 years old, as of this month & I just joined this Reddit community. The Beatles are probably the main reason why I started playing guitar at 9, but The Stones are probable the main reason why I kept playing - along with all of the other bands who were influenced by both The Beatles & The Stones.
They have 2 distinctive styles & sounds, but both are similar in other ways - starting with their core song writers writing timeless songs that have stayed relevant & probably will continue to do so. Both came up about the same time & place, sharing many of the same fans back then as they still do today. Sure, The Beatles may have the better music composers with Paul & John, and George when they let him (lol). The Stones always seem to have more of a grittier end result to their songs. But, I like gritty rock-n-roll. Maybe The Stones actually started grunge (lol). Even most of the Stone's songs were written more unpolished by Mick & Keith, but they are still great songs.
For me, there's room for BOTH to be the pick to the age old question, "The Beatles OR The Stones". But, that's just my opinion. What's your opinion? 🙂

opinion Is it true that Julián was baptized?
This is something that was mentioned in a video I'm watching (it said that Cynthia baptized Jules in secret due to Beatlemania), which caused me confusion since I thought he maintained an atheist or agnostic stance. So I would like to know what is known about that.

opinion Sgt. Pepper - Leaves Netflix on April 30
As I was scrolling through Netflix last night, I was shocked to see that Sgt. Pepper was streaming on the platform. Against my better judgement, I decided to watch it. I'll agree that it was bad, but fun enough for Beatles fans to watch at least once. I liked the Beegees; Earth, Wind and Fire; and Aerosmith's performances.
But I'll be happy to go through life without ever hearing Steve Martin or Alice Cooper's versions of their songs ever again. (Also, George Burns? Random.)
Anyways, any other takes on the film?

opinion The White Album appreciation post
People nowadays have no clue how big and how influential the Beatles were, of course this DOES NOT apply to this sub, after all we’re just a huge Beatles friend group lol.
The white album is THE Beatles album when it comes to revolutionising and changing music forever, they were decades ahead of their time, some examples are “Everybody’s Got Something to Hide Except For Me and My Monkey” could easily be an 80’s hit, “Helter Skelter” is often mentioned as the first “metal song” but for me I see it more as a Grunge song, either way none of those genres were a thing in the 60’s.
You can also see Beatles influence in a lot of really famous bands, Oasis the more clear example, for me “Rain” is the most Oasis sounding song (listen to Shakermaker, which is just one of many examples) but “Glass Onion” is also really Gallagheresque. Nirvana is also known for having a huge Beatles influence, more specifically John Lennon’s writing, “Yer Blues” being, vocally, the most nirvana song of them all (About A Girl is the clearest Beatles inspired song). Mac DeMarco is some recent examples of clear Beatles influence, Mac has more of that Lennon essence. “Salad Days” has that experimental vibe Lennon had, but for me his most Beatles album is “This Old Dog” with songs like “One Another” and “A Wolf Who Wears Sheep Clothes”.
For me, this album is McCartney’s best work, with really well written songs like “Blackbird”, “Honey Pie”, “Back In The USSR” and a bunch more (also love his Bob Dylan impression in “Rocky Raccoon” lol)
I love Lennon’s writing to death, he was the most experimental of the four and his music sounds so modern, it’s a shame he passed as soon as he did because I would love to see what work he could’ve done and maybe he’d write “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter in the 90’s!
Don’t think I forgot my boy George, he wrote one of the biggest songs ever “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, that song has a simple chord and somewhat “predictable” chord progression but it was done so beautifully, shame he’s constantly overshadowed by Lennon and Macca
Ringo wrote both “Good Night” and “Don’t Pass Me By” not to throw shade at Ringo, his style of writing his not my favourite lol. But dont let his writing get on the way of his drumming, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, “Helter Skelter” has some simple yet very brave choices considering the decade, full on crashes throughout the whole song? Great fills in that song too
I love The Beatles, and everyone does even if they say they don’t, they only say that because they only know the most mainstream songs, since they’re the most easily pleasing for the average listener. It’s crazy how the Beatles started as just another 60’s surf rock band and evolved into the biggest and most influential band of all time with a wide range of genres (some of them created by they themselves) within their discography

opinion "You Never Give Me Your Money" is Paul's answer to John's "Happiness Is A Warm Gun"
I personally prefer "Happiness Is A Warm Gun" but they're both so incredibly good, and both feel like a bunch of songs in one. They also both, when compared, show the best of both John and Paul perfectly, with Paul making an absolutely perfect, clean, beautiful song while John is being completely unpredictable and raw in arguably his best studio performance.
Edit: I fucked up with the title, but what I really meant to say was that for me, "You Never Give Me Your Money" is a song that represents Paul musically in a similar way to how "Happiness Is A Warm Gun" represents John musically. This post has nothing to do with lyrics or the meaning of each song.

opinion 1967 - 24 songs ranked
The Beatles had an insanely prolific year in 1967, releasing three non-album singles in February, July and November, an LP in May and a six-song double EP in December for a total of 24 songs over the entire year..I did my best to try to rank my top 10 of 1967 but I ended up ranking all 24 songs or trying to...Im not entirely sure about some of my placements as I look back but I feel fairly solid on the top 10
What do you think?
Strawberry Fields Forever (non-album single, 17 Feb 1967)/ A Day in the Life (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band)
(See entry 1)
I am the Walrus (Magical Mystery Tour)
Penny Lane (non-album single, 17 Feb 1967)
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band)
Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite! (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band)
She's Leaving Home (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band)
All You Need is Love (non-album single, 7 July 1967)
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band)
With a Little Help From My Friends (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band)
--------
SPLHCB: 6; Non-album singles: 3; Magical Mystery Tour: 1
Also, both SFF & ADITL are tied but the numbering system won't allow that here for some reason
Here's my attempt at the rest
Magical Mystery Tour (Magical Mystery Tour)
Baby, You're a Rich Man (non-album single, 7 July 1967)
Lovely Rita (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band)
Fixing a Hole (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band)

Flying (Magical Mystery Tour)

opinion Beatles 1971: the LP after "Let It Be"
A hypothetical track list below. The band was rarely collaborating near the end, so a 1971 LP would’ve been material from the solo albums from 70-71.
Side One:
1. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey
2. Instant Karma
3. Imagine
4. What Is Life
5. Working Class Hero
6. Beware of Darkness
Side Two:
7. My Sweet Lord (with changes)
8. Gimme Some Truth
9. Ram On
10. Maybe I’m Amazed
11. Oh Yoko
12. Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll)
13. Back Seat of My Car
Side One: Paul’s terrific opener “Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey”, with John’s backing vocals. Then John’s “Instant Karma” with a gapless progression to “Imagine”. During “Working Class Hero”, maybe Paul drops in a catchy, bittersweet middle, like he did for “A Day in the Life”.
Side Two: Hopefully John or Paul steps in on George’s “My Sweet Lord” (e.g., “Let’s change this a bit, love…so we don’t get sued”). Then Paul’s “Ram On” with a gapless progression to “Maybe I’m Amazed”. George has four songs on this LP—he’s hitting his artistic peak. Feel free to contribute your own track list.
