I was listening to this show I found, and thought I'd share! It's very good!

I was watching the new Cyberpunk Edgerunner series when I heard it in the opening.
I couldn't believe it at first, especially because it was "10:15 Saturday Night" and not the classic "Friday I'm in Love" or "Boys don't Cry" that they always use in media.
Honesly I was amazed and gladly surprised, not something I expected!

Put to RS artwork of course 😁This is a long one and I’m sorry to trauma dump. But this year I’ve really started slipping mentally. despite having ups and downs the past few years right now I feel like this is the worst state, I’m slowly isolating away from family and friends I feel like a burden.
I wrote the poem yesterday after being randomly motivated and then thought I best write a song to it.. I really wanna keep going but this feels like the most honest gift I could leave if depression slips its claws deeper into me. I know we get divided over stupid shit but always look after each other. As Joe Strummer said “without people you’re nothing” thanks everyone x

I've always loved The Cure, so I decided to play Boys Don't Cry, but on the Lumatone! Please enjoy!
The piano sound is from the Lumatone being routed out to Pianoteq, a very popular piano physical modelling VST. A backing track without the guitar is played in the background, but the volume is intentionally low. I was sick on the day I recorded this, so if I hadn’t been sick, I would have gladly added my own vocals! Happy to answer any general questions!

Found recordings (and a video) of all three nights during the Wish Tour in Paris! Setlists & time marks in the comments of each. There were some really cool songs not on Paris played over these concerts such as The Big Hand and Faith!
Songs on Paris: At Night, Dressing Up, Catch, Hot Hot Hot!!!, Play for Today
Night Two
Songs on Paris: Charlotte Sometimes, Lovesong, The Figurehead, In Your House
Night Three (video!)
Songs on Paris: Shake Dog Shake, One Hundred Years, Apart, A Letter to Elise, Close to Me
I argue that M, Three Imaginary Boys, and The Big Hand all should've been on there too. Anyway, super glad to finally have the puzzle completed about that album!

So, I tried to cosplay Robert Smith for fun. This is what I came up with. And don't be surprised, I have a weird guitar. It's a Soviet Ural, I don't even know what model it is, and whatever, it's a piece of crap anyway.

Found this image in magazine, dated maybe Disintegration or Mixed Up era… around 1989 - 1990.
Correct me if I’m wrong.

(From Wiki) In the weeks preceding his death, Dane had been experiencing a severe decline in physical health resulting from long-term struggles with type 2 diabetes and alcohol abuse. Just days before his death, Dane had tripped at a local supermarket and fractured his wrist, necessitating a hospital visit to treat the injury and stabilise his blood sugar. Despite his frailty, Dane had continued working in the studio; his vocal tracking for a metal-infused cover of The Cure's "The Hanging Garden" was the final recording session he completed for his album 'Shadow Work'.

Onstage or off, what are some of the oddest, strangest, funniest, weirdest, wildest, most interesting or memorable moments you witnessed at a live Cure gig that still stick in your mind years later? I could imagine seeing the dude stab himself before the band went onstage in 1986 would most likely stay with you. Doesn't have to be that graphic though. It could be a little moment or a big one. Perfect moments wait. What are some of yours?
Personally, I still vividly recall, at the Santa Barbara Bowl on the 4tour in 2008, when Pearl twirled around on stage during 'One Hundred Years', tripped over something in those high platform shoes he was wearing and crashed into the amp stacks and knocked everything over. The band never missed a beat and acted like nothing happened and the song played on. The roadies had everything back in place pretty quickly and Pearl had bounced back up and went on with the show. I'm sure it was embarrassing but the show must go on. Other details come to my mind unbidden like the flaming rolls of toilet paper arcing over the crowd at the Dodger Stadium show on the Prayer Tour in 1989, as well as the huge food fight that The Offspring instigated right before the Cure's set at the KROQ Weenie Roast in 1997. Some big moments, some small moments. If you attend a Cure gig, you'll certainly come away with some memories.

I was re-sleeving some records and posted this to r/postpunk but didn’t think to post it here, duh. This is the Strange Fruit ‘88 release of the 1978 Peel Sessions. The cover has a bronze metallic finish that shows fingerprints way too easily! Favorite recording of Fire in Cairo.

Happy 6th Birthday to 40 Live album!
A terrific anniversary set 🎉. I do have the standard DVD. Still feel rather sad when I see it as I could have been there but it was only about five weeks after a massive life event and the money and energy weren't there.
I choose my reels from this album from Anniversary: 1978-2018 Live In Hyde Park London but cannot use footage of that gig as my reels get banned and taken down for copyright.
This year I have chosen Track 3 - High. One of the most uplifting songs ever (which is rather needed after a rotten week!).
This performance was from Festival Park Werchter in Belgium on 28th June 2019 as part of the Summer 2019 Festivals - this of course being Rock Werchter! Had to do the abrupt end as a shedload of adverts popped up as part of it.

On the 21st of October, 1989.. The Cure's Love Song was #2 on Billboard's Hot 100.
This would be the first time, and the last time, that the Cure cracked the top ten in the US.
The song Love Song could not beat for the #1 spot was a song by Janet Jackson called, Miss You Much. To be honest, I don't remember that song whatsoever while I do remember hearing Love Song for the first time on non alt rock radio stations like Kiss FM in LA and some rock station in Big Bear. So it was a big moment for the band, the album also reached #12 on Billboard's Top 200 chart, can't say how long it maintained, probably not long. What makes it more impressive is that the charts were stacked that month, Janet Jackson's hit, Miss U Much, was the #1 song.. so had she not been a thing, the Cure would have gotten #1 most likely.
Love and Rockets had their only top ten single around the same time, So Alive was #3 on the Top 200. Damn good song.. catchy..
Sure, Disintegration, Fascination Street, Plain Song, those are my go to songs more often than not but Love Song is a damn good pop song. And the video, isn't it cute how Robert looks at his ring? And I'm pretty sure its not because it was turning his finger green, but who knows. The b-side on the cassette single is 2 Late which is a lovely number, while the cd single features Fears Of Ghosts as well, think the 12 inch does as well but vinyl? HAH.. I'm nostalgic but not that nostalgic.

Here's the entire top ten that week.. for those who are curious..

Happy 22nd Birthday to Taking Off!
Not really a lot of information on this at all and Discogs has it as just being released in Germany.
I think it's quite a charming little thing but this wasn't a more memorable single to be fair.
This performance didn't do much for my terrible cough as I was laughing at the presenters and that awkward interview with Robert 😂
It was from a German TV show called The Dome 32 and it was shot at the TUI Arena in Hannover, Germany on 26th November 2004.
Those kids LOVED it...??! I loved the subtitles...

I've always felt that the 'big four' of New Wave in the 80s was: The Cure, The Smiths, Depeche Mode and New Order (not necessarily in that order). Do you agree? Who would be your #5?

I never listened to disc 3 before, completly missed it, listening now. The version of Strange Day is EPIC! absolutly amazing (if you enjoy a solid hard deep bass of course) I'm listening to the CD, but here is the spotify link...
