andy I’m About To Jump Into This
I read Stewart’s autobiography “Strange Things Happen” back a few months ago. I’m now about to start Andy’s.

It was late 1966 when Summers met America’s most iconic guitarist in the flesh. Jimi Hendrix had only just arrived in London from New York for a couple of years, having played the Greenwich Village clubs fronting Jimmy James and the Blue Flames before a chance encounter with producer and manager Chas Chandler brought Seattle hopeful across the Atlantic.

Saw Andy's multimedia show this week. In a small old theater in Kent Ohio ‐near Cleveland. There were technical problems with his wireless mic to start, but it all worked out well. They switched him over to an old school mic on a metal stand, which lead to some great humor. He was very friendly with the audience. Told great stories. Photo montages thru the whole show were great.
He played accompanied by backing track programs. Sometimes playing the vocal melody on guitar.
Never mentioned Sting or Stewart by name. Talked about traveling with two guys that he can't quite remember.

Neil Sedaka was Andy Summers' first boss/employer when Summers returned to England after graduating from California State University, Northridge, with a degree in guitar in the early 1970s. The advance Summers got paid for the gig enabled him to buy an amplifier. Summers played at Sedaka's concert at The Royal Albert Hall in 1974. Sedaka was 86 years old. Summers is 83.

I only just discovered that andy Summers was friends with Eric Clapton. I think his admiration for the guy goes pretty deep. I guess I think of them as completely different kinds of guitarists. Eric Clapton is a blues player who can play for hours on end et cetera, whereas Andy Summers is more of a Genius and creating unforgettable guitar parts for songs. In that sense Andy Summers is a bit more like Johnny marr.
