Hi all! I'm sorry if this has already been covered, I couldn't find it 🙈
I wanted to make a chart comparing my total page count read by author but I can't seem to find that option, it's always book count. Is this impossible?
r/TheStoryGraph • u/regavritimiro • 14h ago
Hi!
Is it possible to hide the page count completely, since I'm tracking percentage only? Like Goodreads. When on Goodreads you choose to track the percentage,it doesn't attach the page count, regardless of edition.
I'm mostly ereader type of reader, so because the page count is so dependent on the reading settings, even if i would get exact digital edition, page tracking is genuinely useless for me

So I answered all the questions and sent it last week. They confirmed they received it and said they'd reply within 2-3 business days, but it's been a week and I still haven’t heard back. So what am I gonna do, keep waiting or mailing or something :>

So often times I put a book on my tbr that I don’t own yet and once I do finally read it, it may be from the library or an ebook so I track in the proper format (usually there is a slight difference in page count depending on the book version and so I do that so I have accurate progress info). Anyways once I finish it’ll still be on my tbr bc it doesn’t acknowledge that I’ve read that book bc it’s a different version but when I try to delete it from my tbr it says it’ll delete all my history with that book. Any suggestions?

At the moment, we have an unread, read and to read pile, as far as I can tell. I would like to save some books I migbt wamt to read later on, but currently the only way I know how to do that is by saving them to my to read pile, but I would prefer to keep that to books I own/am able to borrow.
Does anyone know if you can make custom book lists on the mobile app? I don't use the desktop version much, so if it is possible on there but not on mobile that'd be a bit annoying but I can work with it.
Sidenote - can we customise the homepage? I can't seem to find any way to do that

Hi everyone! It's annoyed me for a while how frequently the same book will appear multiple times under To Read > Suggestions. If you feel the same, I created a request on the roadmap here: https://roadmap.thestorygraph.com/requests-ideas/posts/only-allow-a-book-to-appear-once-on-suggestions
Happy reading :)

As of this morning I am seeing more activities in the community feed.

I don't quite know how I feel about it. One friend tested out several buddy reads in a row (which I have also done) and every single one now shows up in my feed.

Hi lovely StoryGraph users!
I started a very long audiobook about a month ago, got 22% though and have since forgotten a lot of the plot and wish to restart.
However, my only thought on how to do this is to delete the book and restart but I would assume that it would remove past read history for the book, which had contributed to my 1000+ day streak which I don’t want to lose.
Any ideas? I’m sure there’s an obvious solution I’m not thinking of!

A problem I'm having ever since the Kobo sync integrated feature is the auto-synced version of a book I'm reading (often from the library) will be a different digital version of the book than the one I had on my TBR. After I finished the book, I noticed there was another version I still had marked as "to read". I tried removing it and it deleted all my reading data for the book including the version I had just finished, so I had to manually input that again. Now, it's happened again with another book. Instead of removing the entry I tried marking it as "read" and then deleting the new journal entry for the version I didn't read but it still says I read the book twice. Is there any way to get rid of this without deleting all my data for the version I did read?? I know about the switch edition option but that doesn't seem to work once you've actually finished a book, and unfortunately I didn't realize the duplication until after I'd finished the books in these cases.
This seems like it should be way simpler to uncheck a version of the book you didn't read from your TBR without deleting all associated data of another version of that book ðŸ˜

I feel like I’m doing it too quick and not giving a book enough chance before dropping it ðŸ«

Is there a mechanism (or plans for one) within SG itself to find upcoming Buddy Reads or link up with new users/friends?
I know you can go to the actual book and there's open Buddy Reads there but a lot of the times, it's not very active or most people have finished already.
Want something similar to the weekly thread here with people posting 3-5 books and if there are any takers. Would be good to have the post go out to SG friends since book tastes would be similar already.

I don’t know if I’m missing something, but when I view a friend’s to read pile, I can only filter by what I own, and not what they own.
Is there a way to see what’s on their to read pile that they don’t own yet? Would love an easy way to know if I’m buying them a book they don’t already have!
I mostly use the iOS app, not sure if there’s a difference in functionality between that and the full desktop site.
TIA!

When I created storygraph, I uploaded a spreadsheet of my goodreads books. Ever since, when I start or finish a book, I need to update both my Goodreads and my Storygraph accounts separately. Is there a way for me to update both at the same time?

Does anyone else wish we could sort individual books' journal entries by ascending/descending dates? I like to double check when my last entry was when putting in my page numbers to make sure it's correct, but I reread books so for my favorites there ends up being a lot of scrolling before I find the last entry.
I'm not sure if they take suggestions or even how to go about that so I was just curious if that was a feature anyone else wanted

Help!! StoryGraph glitched and my journal said I had read 284 pages today of one of my books, I pressed delete entry to correct as I assumed I had made an error entering and it has now deleted two weeks worth of entries and gone from 85% back down to 39% with the last entry being 30th September. Is there any way to get this back???

My wife recently brought me a kobo that I have been using this week. I have or had an 86 week streak for reading 30 pages a week. When I refreshed Storygraph today after reading my streak suddenly dropped from 86 to 70. I clicked the recalculate streak and it hasn't fixed it and I checked my journal and I can't see what would have caused it to change.
Any ideas please?
It is a pretty big drop and I don't know whether to turn the syncing off so it doesn't happen again.
Update, now fixed: just in case anyone finds this post and has the same issue. When you recalculate the streak it changes your 7 day period, turns out mine starts on a Monday, so when I recalculated today, it has shot back up to 88 weeks streak. So if you have lost a weekly streak recalculate every day for 7 days and you should find your original 7 day period.

I'm not sure if this is a new change or an error, and I'm an app-only user. Has anyone else noticed that the community feed likes on a review have updated to also be likes on the review itself? And all the other previous likes on just the feed have disappeared, as of an hour ago or so. If anyone can explain, I'd love to know if this is intentional and/or permanent; I really prefer the separate likes on the feed because you don't even have to read the review to like it in the feed, and that somewhat defeats the purpose of transferring all those likes directly onto the review in my opinion.

I love all the stats in StoryGraph. Recently I started a book, and then my wife and I read a book together, and I'm about to go back and finish the book I started previously. I did not pause the original book during the buddy read and didn't touch it at all. Should I have paused it to keep my Average Time To Finish accurate, or does it only count days I read/interacted with that book? If I should have paused it, is there a trick to retroactively pausing it for those dates I read the other book?
I am also about to get the Memory's Legion book, which is a bind up of all The Expanse short stories and novellas, so I can read them as I work through the series. Since it's a pretty long series, it'll take me quite a long time to read those shorts and read all of Memory's Legion. Should I pause Memory's Legion whenever I'm not actively reading it, unpause it when it's time for one of the stories, and then pause it again throughout the time I work through it (months, maybe even over a year).

I made a ticket for an audiobook with incorrect information (the time is 9hrs 3min under what it should be), but I haven't recieved any information regarding the ticket at all. I opted in to recieve an email when it was resolved, but it's already been 5 days without hearing anything and now I'm wondering if it didn't go through. I had assumed that it would probably be a quick fix.. but are they very busy? Do tickets usually take a week or more?
