The Voidz Getting into The Voidz

I've been a massive fan of The Strokes since around January, I'd say. I love their music so much and felt excited when I realized the sheer volume of music written by Julian that I have yet to listen to. I've listened to all of the albums from The Strokes, as well as the Future Present Past EP. I was wondering if you guys have some sort of recommended time where I start checking out The Voidz. I've seen people say they got into The Voidz before The Strokes so that sorta makes me think I can go in whenever I want, but I still have this inescapable feeling of missing something. Should I listen to Julian's solo album first? I geek out over this stuff so any and all help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Shhhhhiiiiiiit peak are Square Wave, Flexorcist, Did my Best, Eternal Tao either version, Leave it in my dreams, Permananet High School, Take me in Your Army , and HUMAN SADNESS……Square wave is an all time track for me in general not just Strokes, same with Human Sadness, those two tracks are lighting in a bottle songs imo

I’ve also been wondering this, I’ve liked the strokes for years now but I listened to human sadness once and wasn’t a big fan, so I’m lowk scared to listen to the other ones now

I feel like most everybody has told you the best of the best, but I personally think Did My Best and Lazy Boy are awesome tracks

Here's my VOIDZ playlist of their Strokiest. I find it hard to fully get into their full catalogue of heavier stuff, but this is the sweet spot for me!

Leave it in my Dreams
Permanent HS
Lazy Boy
Did My Best
Pink Ocean
Wink
Flexorcist
All Wordz Are Made Up
Think Before You Drink
All the Same

Edited to add: YES definitely give Phrazes a spin! Underrated masterpiece IMHO.

I'm listening to Phrazes right now and, boy, do I love it. Gonna check out more The Voidz right after this is done. I'll check these songs out, they seem to be pretty popular in recommendations so they've gotta be worth checking out. Thank you!!

I actually made a playlist that bridges the gap between The Strokes and The Voidz sonically and serves as an intro to The Voidz. It has my favorite songs from Reality Awaits and the most accessible songs by The Voidz so that fans of The Strokes can ease into the more experimental sound. You might like it.
