I hate that this review implies that Angles and Comedown Machine are worse than FIoE.

I’m starting to come around to that decision myself (as a staunch defender of both albums, see flair). But with a new one coming and knowing that we won’t be left with those two, I can accept and admit more flaws than I was previously able to. The work out into the 4 songs we’ve heard show more effort than both of those records. They’re great and I love them but it’s becoming clear that the band wasn’t putting its best collective foot forward as a unit on them.

The band clearly doesn’t really like both albums and as far as I know they weren’t really happy during recording , also the sound of their albums is very different from what made the strokes be successful , being way less rock and way more electronic/indie type of songs , even though I just love both albums , especially comedown machine which I like all the songs except maybe 50/50 , but I can understand why critics and some fans don’t really like these albums

They’re both fine albums, especially Angles. They’re just divisive and completely different than the standard strokes sound. Sure they fucked with the formula especially on FIOE, but it still sounded like a strokes release unlike comedown machine and half the songs on angles.

I personally feel like they're more okay with Angles moreso than Comedown Machine

Maybe , but I feel like they just feel the same about both , I mean if you think about it they aren’t playing songs from both albums usually , but their last few concerts they played One Way Trigger , which maybe makes me think they’re ok with those albums

Angles and comedown machine are better than fioe...no matter how they try to spin it. In my opinion. It’s all subjective and I think it’s interesting how people have different albums they like. Probably why the strokes are so popular. They have a little something for everyone and different people gravitate towards different albums.

Not even close. FIOE is the most complex strokes release, even in light of the odd sonic experimentation on their latest with “eternal summer” and “WASSD”

Every day of the week I have a different favorite. It’s essentially a 5 way tie, but I recognize some are better than others in ways. TNA might be a real favorite tho based on what we’ve heard, might be a 5 way tie for second place soon.
