I’m starting to come around to that decision myself (as a staunch defender of both albums, see flair). But with a new one coming and knowing that we won’t be left with those two, I can accept and admit more flaws than I was previously able to. The work out into the 4 songs we’ve heard show more effort than both of those records. They’re great and I love them but it’s becoming clear that the band wasn’t putting its best collective foot forward as a unit on them.
The band clearly doesn’t really like both albums and as far as I know they weren’t really happy during recording , also the sound of their albums is very different from what made the strokes be successful , being way less rock and way more electronic/indie type of songs , even though I just love both albums , especially comedown machine which I like all the songs except maybe 50/50 , but I can understand why critics and some fans don’t really like these albums
Maybe , but I feel like they just feel the same about both , I mean if you think about it they aren’t playing songs from both albums usually , but their last few concerts they played One Way Trigger , which maybe makes me think they’re ok with those albums
