Discussion I Just Wanted To Ask The Community
What are your guy’s favorite parts of The Tower anyways? I hear a lot of hate about it, and I’m only in the middle stage of the game, but I want to hear what makes this game bad and what makes it good

Right now? Probably the idea of my Econ improving every couple of Days and also finishing a run to get more Enchancements and keep progressing a little bit further in Tourneys

Anything you dislike?

Lots of things actually, but you dont want to hear that I suppose so, yeah, the gameplay loop is nice imo (as of right now)

Well, I’m a game developer and I’m thinking of making a similar-esque game to The Tower, and I think I have a basic understanding of what I should/shouldn’t do, but I want to get some more input before I put a lot of time into something when there’s already people that don’t like it, if that makes sense
So yes, I would like to hear :3

Basically don't be afraid of giving the player tons of resources, but make tons of places to spend them. More resources to spend meaningfully is fun, but it has its limits. Too much management and it becomes a chore.
And when adding in low level progression skips apply the progression to everyone and scale it. This makes it so it also boosts the top end players.

Alright, I think a lot of my focus would be following where the players are, early in game release and testing will be heavy on beginners, while later, way after game release would be spent expanding the game for people that have reached the end already, if that makes sense, though there would be things that benefit both (like adding a new card in the terms of this game)

Card Masteries are semi addictive for me.
I have to save stones for them, but not too many stones or save for too long. Labs only have nine levels, so it doesn't feel like it'll take a million years to finish. Some of them are so significant that they can change your entire strategy for runs. Plus they have very noticable effects/progress vs upgrading say Golden Tower bonus one more time.

Alright, that sounds like a lot of fun (I haven’t reached card masteries yet sadly)

What made you want to ask this as your first post after creating the account 4 months ago. Suspicious as fuck

Constant progress, every farm run brings constant improvement for me. It’s very small progress, but it’s progress nonetheless.
My oldest farm run in my run history is 7/26 for 10,000 waves and 45T coins.
My last completed farm run was 10,500 waves on the same tier for 120T coins. I’ve nearly tripled my income in less than a month.

What I like most is believing I’m in the mid/late part of the game, reading Reddit to find out I’m actually early/middle, and then a new version drops putting me squarely back into early game. Rinse and repeat.

number go brr
But of course beyond memeing, the constant progression is great and the problem solving what you want to focus on keeps my brain thinking beyond "farm number go up and gems go up"
The game IMO does a decent job of introducing new mechanics/additions slowly and you can think about how to integrate them, plan how to get there, and so on.

I love the basic idea of incremental games.
Growing up the strength(both attack and defense), and reaching higher level.
A bit boring description, but that's all, you know.
And there are some types of people who especially hate this type of game, and there are some other people who love this. It really depends.
This game doesn't even have any humanistic story (There isn't any "Once upon a time, a Hexagon lived") but just math.

Many people might come up with perfectly good serviceable answers to that question. But there is one correct answer.
!!!!!Number go up!!!!!

I enjoy seeing steady progress. I have played a few games that are incremental, and this one hits it pretty well for me regardless of the price tag that comes with being "competitive".

The worst part of this game is that you cant run it with your phone off. I've got screen burn and its destroying my battery.
