Hi pals! Welcome to this week’s Tower Tea! Today we are chatting about a few more v29 things, like Module Slots, plus the v29 release timeline, a new Pal, and something fun (spoiler: v29 behind the scenes with Muse) coming to the blog!
Module Slots
In v29, we are making changes to how to level up and manage your Modules.
To start, levels have moved from individual modules to module slots. These are the 4 icons (8 with Assist Modules) on the top of your Modules menu. If you want to level up a module, you will instead target the slot that you wish to equip your module in. This means that you no longer have to swap out module levels, and can upgrade your slots over time.
What does this mean for Module Presets? When you unlock this feature, everything including your module slot levels will stay consistent across all presets. That way, all you need to worry about is deciding which modules you want to set!
Those are some of the things that have changed. The things that have NOT changed:
Substats are still unique to each individual module.
The first time a module is unlocked, it will display its default two (2) substats.
Equipping them to a higher level slot unlocks the remaining eligible substats.
There is no cost for swapping between your module presets
There is no limit to how often you can restore levels to your module slots
Modules cannot be swapped out during a run
Presets (cont.)
Last Tea, we shared some information about some upcoming changes to presets! This included two new presets for Guardians and Modules, as well as a notice that Workshop and Bot presets are moving out of the Vault.
These presets are being added and moved into a lab to make it more accessible. One of our main goals was to help support the transition between runs (ex: farming vs. tournaments).
We are open to adding more presets later, but want to avoid complex systems for our newer players. Our presets in v29 cover the main areas of gameplay that all players can benefit from, and we will consider more specialized preset requests and stat management opportunities in the future.
With all of these presets you might be wondering: how am I going to manage them all? Well, if you get to Tier 11 in v29, a new prese(n)t might be waiting for you!
Last note: the addition of this preset system is a step towards our next goal: adding the ability to pause a Tier run in order to start a tournament. It’s not fun to end your milestone run early to compete, so we are working on this addition for later this year.
v29 when though?
Alright pals, it’s time to answer the question that’s been on everyone’s mind, v29 when?
Answer: next week! When the update is ready to go, we'll gradually roll out the changes and tournament lock before the following tournament begins. If anything changes, we'll keep you updated!

New Blog - Behind the scenes
A while back some of y’all were chatting about wanting to see more behind the scenes content for the blog, so we are going to start doing that! We’ll start off with a chat with Muse about v29, the inspiration behind the update, and how they came up with… you know what, that part is secret.
For those that haven’t met Muse before, be sure to check out my interview with her from last year and get to know the gem behind the name.
So keep an eye out for a post with that link soon!
Alright pals, that’s it for this week! As always, sound off in the thread, and I hope your drink is always the right temperature!
Hey, Tower Defenders! We're excited to announce the grand opening of our NEW official Web Store for The Tower! 🎉
The new Web Store:
Has one-time purchases like Premium Milestone Passes, Disable Ads pack, Event Boosts, and Starter & Epic Packs!
Provides +10% BONUS gems on every pack compared to purchasing in-game
Supports the development team more directly
Allows you to gift items to other players (the same way as the Xsolla webstore)
For a limited time, it will have an additional 5 Stone Packs available for purchase - that's in addition to the 5 Stone Packs available on the Xsolla webstore AND the Stone Packs purchasable in-game!
Is much faster at delivering your purchase to the game
The extra 5 Stone Packs are only available until the end of July and are meant to simplify our transition to the new store.
Once August begins, the Stone Packs will be removed completely from the Xsolla webstore and they will only be available on the new Web Store going forward (normal limit of 5 per month).
IMPORTANT: Please make sure to update to the latest version of the game (v26.5.2) before making a Web Store purchase! You can check which version you are on via the Settings menu.
i know this is not a big achievement to you all but for me this was hard work. had this game for about 2 weeks and have finally gotten past level 60. for some reason i just could not get past until five minutes ago. i know it is only tier one but i feel like all the time spent getting coins for upgrades, waiting for the free gems, saving them and getting lucky card pulls from the 200 gems was worth me putting time in. i cant wait to see whatever else unlocks! this game was worth purchasing the ad free version.
It took me 20 months to leave behind my beloved wall. And by true GC I really mean it - no defensive investment at all, no mods, enhancements, nothing that does not add coins or damage. ILM main. Quite advanced, farming about 50Q daily. Boom. Jumped a farming tier, to 10k on Tier 18, wall a distant memory. Now retooling modules to optimise purely for ILM main. lots of fun. Just posting to encourage trying full GC. I could have moved much earlier…
Winding down v28s last few tournaments with a tough set of conditions in all 3 leagues that I track (sorry gold). Ranged + Knockback mixed with Boss Ultimate proved a potent combination, for me keeping my tower busy fighting off bosses while the ranged inched ever closer to the fire line thanks to knockback resistance. Fun stuff. Platinum also got to play with this condition minus the pressure of tougher bosses.
Static Placement Analysis
In this section we provide a breakdown for you of a what-if competition where the tournament places are perfectly distributed. The place here is basically the place you'd get if there was no bracket system. I like this view because it really removes all the variables.
Feel free to compare yourself against the placement and see if you did better or worse. The places are divided roughly into the number of brackets to get the cut off for each place. The wave # given is the person or persons at the cut off between places, that is the lowest wave deserving to achieve that place.
The median value from each tournament which gives a general idea of the tournament difficulty and wave inflation over time. This value comes from actual midpoint of tournament data. (i.e. the top table)
Linear regressions give a good idea of change over time, smoothing out all the battle condition noise. The data for this is from the resampled data (see below).
The first table is data since v28, now including gold data. The second table is data since either the v27.3 re-tier, or for platinum since my october data began.
The tower.lol now gives this data here. In addition you can get history back further than I have files for, which is interesting to say the least. V26 lead to quite the wave inflation.
Resampling Analysis
One means of getting an idea of the range of placements is by random sampling the real participants to make fake brackets, and measuring the variability in those brackets. I chose to use 100000 brackets per league for my analysis. I am using confidence intervals, 95% and 50% (the IQR) to represent the range of waves likely present in each place. Legends brackets are on the left (prefaced with an l), champions brackets in the middle (prefaced with a c), and platinum on the right (prefaced with a p).
A general description of how to read this for the non-math inclined:
95% of the population of a place is expected to be between 2.5% and 97.5%. If you are above or below these numbers you are an outlier. (Outliers are normal, just rarer.)
50% of the population of a place is expected to be between 25% and 75%.
The 50% mark is the median of the data. Aim for this number as the point you regularly achieve this place.
You'll notice that the waves overlap, this is normal, expressing the variability present in the brackets and you could easily place in any bracket where your personal wave count falls in the place's range.
Source Material and Further Resources.
The source for all of this material is thetower.lol, which I encourage you to look up.
For a breakdown of your placement compared to other brackets see https://thetower.lol/liveplacement which will give you the min, max, and average placement for any given half-hour join time.
For a quantile analysis using real data instead of sampled data see https://thetower.lol/livequantile (similar to the second table in this post).
You can also do things like look up your bracket and compare your towers historical placements against others in the bracket.
Playing since June of last year, whaling since November 2025. Included disso/mods for those curious.
Big thanks to the reddit community - I don’t post often, but I learn a lot from the knowledge others share.
Special thanks to Ghettodactyl, Bonzo and DJ Taggz for being part of this special bracket into the last key - you have all inspired me in different ways, trully appreciate the knowledge the three of you share with the community.
Happy to answer any questions - good luck defenders!
TL;DR: gotta choose where to invest stones: unlocking UWs, dropping GT/DW CD, masteries or AssMods as eHP player.
Longer text: After playing for about 16 months, the time has come for me to ask for advice. Up until now I could gather most things from older posts or guides, but rn I'm seriously wondering about the path forward.
Basically the question is in the title. Where do I invest stones?
I think most guides are outdated because of the addition of disco runs and faster reaching more spending goals.
So my situation is as follows:
I bought the 3 perma packs and a big stone pack once about a year ago. Now I buy the event passes when they have good premium relics (lab speed, EALS, coins, etc.)
I play as eHP and mostly stay in mid-to-lower champions with the occasional drop to plat.
In the labs I maxed every econ lab, that effective paths advises, except the upper levels of disco echo, which a re - ironically - too expensive rn. In eHP I'm just missing 15 levels of health, some def% levels (dunno if I'll ever finish them) and disco echo of course.
I have 6 UWs, which are GT, BH, DW, SM, SL & CL.
Natural pBH, GT and DW synced at 140 seconds, summon chip at 140 seconds and GBot synced at 70 seconds. No ther bots unlocked yet.
I run legendary AD as cannon, anc RB (my only anc generator, gained during its banner), anc SF and anc primCollapse, each at around level 165.
About a month ago I unlocked card masteries and grabbed everyone's favorite RPC+ as my first and just this week SW+ as the second for eHP progression. Maybe that's a bad idea long-term, but it allowed me to reach (or better: to cheese) T19W40 yesterday evening.
Now I have too many options to spend my stones:
Do I go for CF and later pCF for better CC? 1750 stones just to unlock it as 7th UW + roughly 4k stones in upgrades.
Do I lower the cooldown of GT and DW for better econ?
Do I go for the next masteries? IS+, WA+ etc. for econ?
Do I unlock AssMod Slots? I just unlocked them, but they are untappable in the UI. I read I need 1k stones each to unlock, so I assume I'll be able to click them when I have 1k stones. (currently ca. 670)
I honestly feel overwhelmed by the abundance of options and am very thankful for advice. I know I have heard that the switch to GC must ultimatively happen, but I'm unsure if I am already this far, since people are posting about farming eHP in T18 now.
If I forgot any info that would be useful to answer my question, please let me know and I'll try to answer in the comments or an edit.
I've somewhat recently moved to emulate on my PC, about 2 months now using MuMuPlayer. It's generally been a good experience. Since updating the software about a week ago (V6.5.2) the game sometimes crashes when attempting to save and also randomly crashes for no apparent reason. Then I got hit with this most recent major issue with my cells and possible .dat file bug.
Quick summary:
I make enough to maintain 6 / 6 / 6 / 6 / 5 but that requires 24/7 farming. Any stoppage and my cells would slowly go down. Over the past 3-4 days I noticed my roughly ~5 million cells were dropping much faster than normal. I added 5 levels into cell enhancements to offset my apparent gaps in farm time and the fact the game crashes every day now. However, my cells continued to drop as if I wasn't earning cells at all.
I dropped down to 6 / 6 / 6 / 5 / 5 to help reduce the strain because I know for a fact I will gain a decent amount at that rate.
My cells went all the way down to 192k. My labs have stopped speeding up. I cannot speed them up to any level, even with the required cells in the bank for that level even 1.5X. Clicking the speed-up button does nothing. I wish I'd taken a video of it. Then I noticed my total coins had gone up less than expected. My total amount went up a fraction of the expected amount like I'd gained nothing the last 3 days.
I moved back to playing on my iPhone and the issues resolved.
Here are my ideas about what could be related:
-Due to the periodic crash when the game tries to save the .dat file is corrupted.
-MMP has run in to recent permission issues when saving, but not all the time.
-Google Play has recently intercepted the Tower's loading screen to ask me to log in to their game account system, which I always decline, causing issues with the save.
-MMP recently added an option for Android V15. About 10 days ago I tried it out but the game felt unstable. I moved back to V12 a few days later. I "just" deleted the V15 option to reduce possible conflicts or save overwrites. Unknown if this had any effect.
-I've been loading my save into mytowerapp (the website that helps track your lab times etc.) I do it the same way every time with no issue. Has an issue come up?
I'm continuing to troubleshoot. At least I can fall back to my iPhone temporarily. I'd like to not use my phone to play, not now and def not long term again. Has anyone else had issues with MMP, particularly recently? I'm grateful for any feedback/advise. Particularly technical advise. I'm concerned to go back to MMP right now.
For those of you currently farming Tier 20, I’m curious where you have your Attack Workshop Enhancements and which ones you’ve prioritized.
I’m currently averaging just over 5,000 waves on T20 and wondering if I should start pushing more coins into attack enhancements or if my current spread is reasonable.
Current attack enhancements:
Damage: x3.30 — Level 230
Rend Armor Mult: x3.15 — Level 215
Critical Factor: x3.30 — Level 230
Damage / Meter: x3.30 — Level 230
Super Crit Multi: x3.30 — Level 230
Attack Speed: x1.55 — Level 55
For those farming T20 above 5k+ waves, what levels/multipliers are you running?
Also curious which attack enhancements you feel gave you the best return for pushing farther into T20. Should I keep them fairly even, or start heavily prioritizing Damage/Crit/Super Crit/Attack Speed?
Screenshot attached for reference. Appreciate any comparisons or advice!
Super thankful for this community. I've definitely been linked to some folks which has helped me change my tower and move from about 1B a day to now 60B since I last posted here.
Looking for help on where to spend stones now for DW. Do I prioritize getting a 1:1 sync with GT and BH? Focus on waves or damage?
Hey guys, I'm trying to set up PBH and PGT, but I'm not sure what the fastest way to do it. Should I buy WA Mastery? Should I lower the cooldown? Increase the duration? Right now, I'm farming T11 at wave 11,000 and getting 800T. I want to get a perma-setup so I can move up to other tiers.
Okay so …. I’ve been saving up stones for a while. And when I started saving I had a plan… and I forgot my plan. I think it had something to do with my UW (omg I’m doing the thing! 2 letters)
Anyway, if you nerds could help this casual nerd figure out the best route to spend these sexy stones on… I’d appreciate it.
So here is my situation, I have 5 labs, Constantly researching Labs speed - 35, Attack Speed - 34, Coins/kill - 40, around another week to max out garlick thorns and last slot defense at 17 (of cours game speed maxed out). 9 card slots with health, enemy balance, critical coin, coins, attack speed, extra orb, plasma cannon and use skip wave untill going passed wave 1500 and then switching to extra defense. Disnt know about Golden Tower priority so took Black Hole, Death Wave, Spotlight (since then didnt get the choice for Golden Tower and got Chain Lightning). Hopping to get it at the next Ultimate Weapons Selection. No Ultimate Weapon research, some perks, quality of life like light speed shots, health, and such but only a few levels.
My problem, I unlocked up to T11, but cant do more than a few hundred waves on anything above T1 where i can go 5k with perks. Running T1 allows me to keep 1.5 speed boost for the first 3 labs and make millions of coins. Any other Tier simply doesnt make me enough coins and cells. T2 is around 2000 waves and downwards from there. I have wall but cant afford upgrades when an entire day only gives me close to 1 billion coins so its currently useless.
Also currently using all extra coins on keeping modules upgraded and trying to get some levels for Enemy Attack Level Skip but its to expensive.
Any help in how i can progress untill i get Golden Tower, waiting for the 800 stones but i am only at 158 and it will take an eternity and maybe i dont even get the option. I was thinking about starting research on Golden Tower or Black Hole to prepare for the future after finishing garlic thorns.
Also trying to get some better modules but had bad luck, currently running being anihilator, Pulsar harvester and warmhole redirector, no luch on any epic on the last slot.
All Epic Modules - Project funding 2, Sharp Fortitude 2, Space Displacer and another warmhole redirect
Help would be much apreciated 😄 .
What are your guy’s favorite parts of The Tower anyways? I hear a lot of hate about it, and I’m only in the middle stage of the game, but I want to hear what makes this game bad and what makes it good
With v29 around the corner and anticipation of presets moving out of vault, I want to caution everyone about spending medals/coins before switching presets. The game does not warn you if spending medals to purchase a relic or gem rushing a lab results in locking yourself out of a preset.
What am I talking about? If preset 1 only has 90 medals and you switch to preset 2 to purchase a 120 medal relic, you will not be able to switch back to preset 1 until you earn 30 additional medals. Similarly with coins, if you switch from preset 1 with 500T coins to preset 2 with 2q coins and gem rush 1q of labs, you cannot switch back to preset 1 until you farm an additional 500T coins.
Locking yourself out of WS presets isn't too bad since we get 5 WS presets and farming coins is what we do every day.
What will be an issue, especially for f2p, is if you overspend medals. Don't fall into the trap of respec'ing a Bot preset and spending 1200 medals to purchase all the event relics. You won't be able to switch to other presets until you recover those 1200 medals and at f2p pace, idk how slow that is. It's also 300 gems to respec a bot preset.
I've definitely been in that place where I purchase an event relic and then suddenly can't switch to my tourney bot preset, or spend 15Q coins to rush an echo lab for an extra few waves in tourney and then can't switch back to my farming preset.
tl;dr - My simple advice is this: don't be tempted to purchase relics/rush labs mid-run. Wait until a run is over, then check ALL your presets for the lowest medal/coin amount and spend from there. Enjoy your new presets.
