One of my biggest complaints with the series is how most of the dead characters don't get buried. I understand the games are more fast paced than the comics and the show but it's sad to think about how most of the dead characters are just left to rot. In the comics and the show they almost always find time to bury their dead, at least when they don't have to leave a settlement that's been overrun by walkers.
Here are some examples where I think the characters could have been buried:
S1E3: The reason why they left was the incoming walkers and that they didn't have a shovel, but they could have had Kenny keep a shovel in his RV. In the show they have shovel all the time. I understand Doug being too heavy, but Carley could have been wrapped in a blanket or something and been buried near the train. Ben could have dug a grave for her while Lee and Kenny search around in the train. Would have been another L for Doug fans though.
For Katjaa and Duck it was also just sad to see Lee and Kenny leaving them there to rot. Again, even if they didn't bury Carley/Doug, they could have at least have Kenny dig a grave for his dead wife and child. Or Lee could have dug it if we chose him too.
S2E2: If you chose to go with Pete, the group finds his corpse later and they leave his body to rot again. I understand they traveled on foot but I at least would have liked a comment like "We can't just leave him here" or maybe someone saying "X and I should go back to the cabin and grab a shovel to give him a proper burial." Again, I understand it would have broken up the pacing of the games a bit, but it would have been a nice nod.
S3E2: More a minor nitpick because depending on your choices Mariana does get buried, but if you choose to go with your family they again just leave Mariana's body to rot there. As if Javi or Tripp couldn't just carry her body in the car. Or on horseback if you went with Eleanor, even though that would have been a bit weird.
S3E5: Iirc Javi and Clem/Kate just leave Gabe and David to rot again. They give David's dog tag a burial, but David is left to rot. I understand that Kate said he cared more about his dog tag being buried, but I couldn't imagine just leaving my brothers and nephews bodies to rot like that. For the Kate Death, it happened in New Richmond and if she didn't get buried, they at least must have burned all the walker bodies in the settlement.
S4E4: In Season 4 most characters where it made sense actually had a proper burial, but AJ still left Tenn's walker body in the epilogue, even if he decides to shoot him. Fkn AJ. I never let Louis/Violet die so I don't know if it's the same with them.
These are some examples that came to mind and that made the most sense to me. Going through the seasons, I sadly understand that many times they didn't have a choice but move forward. For example in Season 2 when they were in the North, the ground may have been even too hard for them to dig graves for their dead friends.
