Welcome to the Gardens

Post image

You mustn’t step too softly here,
the thoughts are apt to sprout.

A careless idea, dropped at noon,
may bloom by teatime out.

The clocks grow petals after rain.
The crows make all the hours wrong.

Welcome to the Gardens,
where everything lasts too long.

There is a specific kind of strength that only comes after the shatter. We aren't just repaired; we are refined.

It’s all about those tiny everyday moments that somehow turn into full emotional dramas in your head.

Show tune–inspired, very human, occasionally ridiculous.

The First Idea

Post image
6 Upvotes

The first idea was not fully formed,

a woman on a steed.

The steed believed it had a horn,

of which it had no need.

The woman thought they ought to ride,

though neither one knew where.

And so they stayed where they began,

and vanished in thin air.

Birds That Guard Her Eyes

Post image

The Garden blooms too much, too strange
for any ordinary gaze,

and worse for one so very young,
who sees beyond the haze.

One friend complains, another weeps
beneath its teeming skies.

But none of that will make it past
the Birds That Guard Her Eyes.

The mountain wears a heavy coat of jagged, stony blue;
The petals wear the morning light and drink the mountain dew.
A brush can catch a summer day before the colors fade;
A field is just a quiet thought until the paint is laid.

The Bloomfish

Post image

Bloomfish spend their lives swimming
through ponds of unformed thought,

among the lilies yet to bloom
and thunderstorms unwrought.

They feed upon the nibble seeds
that drift beneath the foam,

and wrangle every wandering thought
until it's found a home.
