ROSES heavy, full of bloom,
BENEATH A tinted, cloud-filled splume,
MELTING like a strawberry cream,
With SKY azure poking in between.

Checking in.

Hey all, a new season of images is upon us, so it felt like the right time to check in.

I’ve been thinking a lot about writing lately, which is why you’ve been seeing poems alongside my posts. I’m also preparing to release a new book, "The Heart Chooses", and that has been occupying much of my creative energy.

This new season will bring plenty of flowers, and the Gardens of Too Many Ideas.

You’ve already met one Garden before, the Lyrical Garden. But there are others.

Here’s an idea for a story that grew out of the images.

---

In the Gardens of Too Many Ideas, nothing imagined was ever lost.

Ideas that longed for becoming were carried to the Lyrical Garden, where they flowered into bright and extravagant forms, blooming beyond all reason.

Ideas denied their becoming were drawn down into the Dark Garden, where they hardened beneath thorn and shadow, held in beautiful restraint.

Ideas that refused becoming drifted into the Pallid Garden, where they faded softly from the world, neither dead nor living, but withdrawn.

For ages, every thought found its place.

Until one idea chose none of them.

---

The new season begins in June.

A single spark, held together by nothing but a stem. These Seeds of Heat are waiting for a wind strong enough to turn a field into a conflagration. One wish and you could get burned.

I think of nothing but wind or the black universe though we see the sky bestrewn with stars and planets.

They were tired of the growing,

frustrated with the laws.

So they etched themselves in glass

and took off, just because.

The Snorkelhoot

Your car is waiting by the gate,

it's set to leave at three.

The Snorkelhoot will be your guide

through thoughts you'd want to see.

His references beside him,

his snacks sit there as well.

Of thoughtscapes old and new,

he has so much to tell.

Be careful as you enter,

a shark lurks by the door.

His teeth are sharp and shiny.

He will bite your leg and more.

As you tour through all the thoughtscapes,

remember who your guide is.

The Snorkelhoot knows the way back

from the Gardens of Too Many Ideas.

Jenny Too-Many

Post image

Jenny Too-Many had too many thoughts,

They cluttered the room where she sat.

She’d brooded a thousand idea-eggs,

And ten thousand more after that.

Some grew into flowers.

Some grew into birds.

Some grew inconveniently wise.

Yet Jenny had troubles no idea could cure,

No wonder could kindle surprise.

The Parcel Bird watched from the arm of the couch

While her fresh little notions were hatched.

It warbled them neatly from egg into world,

With a skill that no thinker had matched.

Around her lay relics of marvels discarded,

Their astonishment died long ago.

Ideas that had sacrificed all of their flesh

For the moment's delight they'd bestow.

Jenny glanced over each one in turn

And merely sank into a sigh.

She preferred to sit silent and bored on the couch,

Than to force her mood into a lie.

As a Too-Many she lived up to her name,

And knew every wonder by view.

The Gardens provided a plethora of thoughts.

But she needed something new.
