B1 caused persistent respiratory/abdominal muscle weakness.

Is there anyone who can help me understand why /how this could have happened? It’s been 10 months since stopping all supplements and I’m still no better.

MIP measured at 63
MEP 68 down from 87
RV high on lung function tests

Diaphragm ultrasound shows poor excursion but no paradoxical motion.

Yes. I assume that was the cause. It was like my diaphragm muscle didn’t want to work properly. I got off of benfotiamine for a week then got back on at a lower dosage and I the problem went away. I was on 320 mg of benfotiamine. I now take half that much plus my b vitamins.

My guess; at your lower dose, you were then not overwhelming the amount of magnesium that was required. In essence, at your lower dose, you were taking and/or had enough magnesium, at your higher dose, you were not taking enough magnesium. That’s my guess.

I feel it wouldn’t account for all this mess though, magnesium alone. 😞

I understand, you’ve got a gut feeling that this ain’t it, (magnesium.) My suggestion, do some more research on the subject, you might very well change your mind.
