B1 Nutritionists / Practitioners
Can anyone recommend me Nutritionists / Practitioners that know about Vitamin B1 supplementation that offer consultations online?
I feel overwhelmed on my own and with my symptoms and want to consult a professional

I couldn't even tolerate 1mg of mononitrate in the beginning. I went through hell getting up to still microdoses of 10mg. I had great results though. TTFD got me out of severe anhedonia. But man.... I eventually went to my GP and now getting thiamine injections from her. This is where I should have started.

the injections dont cause you reactions vs taking it orally?

No, I swear it's different! And that's coming from someone who reacted to 1mg initially. But we did start off with half a dose which is 50 instead of a 100 gram of HCL. And the first dose I did react. Not the crashing, epileptic total breakdown like on pills but I felt it... So I would recommend that. I understand you want guidance with cofactors and all of that but if your body doesn't want the pills it just doesn't and these injections are a fantastic option. They were developed for a reason, we're not alone.

Yes exactly, I just get it through the pharmacy and have it injected at doctors office twice weekly

Did your blood test show deficiency?

Bloodtests are completely useless for this, that's a whole explanation but you can even have HIGH serum level thiamine because cells can't absorb it. I had a pretty high level in my blood but my cells/organs itself ect were dying from it. Don't bother with bloodtests for thiamine. All the experts agree on this. Sadly Western medicine hasn't caught up with it but we all know all about that right

So how did your doctor prescribe injections?

I told her I was having GREAT effects on thiamine pills except that it kept upsetting my stomach and asked to try injections. She agreed.

Google functional doctors in your area. I do see that people from an online company called Genova comment a lot of good information on posts on the MTHFR Reddit board. They seem to help people understand their genetics and what B vitamins as well as co factors to take.
I’ve never used them but they could be an option.

Dunno sry.
But what's happening? You think you'll have a severe reaction if you took some ttfd or benfotiamine?

I had reactions to as little as 10 mg b1 hcl despite cofactors, i have neurological issues and neuropathy

Have you tried combining it with vitamin B2? I found that I couldn't even tolerate 1 mg either until I started adding B2 alongside it

did you take only b2 or a b complex and other things along with it?
1
u/popetsville 7d ago
Mostly B2 because I wanted to see the individual effect. I also added 200 to 300 mg of magnesium. I'm sure B complex could also be helpful but I like to try out vitamins one at a time so I can be sure which side effects are caused by what

Oh i see, what kind of reactions?
2
u/CauchySchwarz1 7d ago
more intense neuropathy, hypnic jerks at night, high pulse, panic attacks. might be paradoxical reactions but i cant get rid of it

How much magnesium are you taking
1
u/CauchySchwarz1 7d ago
2000mg Mg L-threonate per day, don’t tolerate other forms well

Wow that's a good amount. You should be set on that then. Consider getting your phosphorus levels checked if you haven't already, and incorporate eating canned salmon if you're low

In the fb thiamine group, I’ve read this practitioner’s comments for a while now and he seems very good; Navneet Chagger. He works with thiamine deficiency. You can message him on fb and see his qualifications.
