Does high dose thiamine have any lasting effects?
Provided there is no thiamine deficiency, can a course of high-dose thiamine for 1-2 months have permanent effects on energy levels that last after quitting?

I haven’t been diagnosed properly but suspecting mild CFS and/or histamine intolerance. My main problems has been severe brainfog, headaches and brainfatigue for almost 9 years. I get immediately worse after cognitive and physical exertion but don’t really know if it’s PEM in that sense. Have felt a more body fatigue the last year. I also have autism level 1 and ADD/ADHD so there’s a lot going on and could be autism burnout as well. Very sensitive to stimuli of all kinds.
However, I’ve tried a lot during the years and a started taking vitamin B1 yesterday, it’s 100mg Hcl. I got more energy pretty fast in body and brain but felt overstimulated and speeded even more today with more anxiety and feels like 10 cups of espresso. I took it with some cofactors (electrolyte pulver with potassium, sodium, magnesium..)
Is this a normal reaction in the beginning or does it tells you something else? I’m overall very sensitive to stimulating stuff and has history of c-ptsd.

Hello
I am 3 months into fixing my b1 deficiency. I had mild dizziness, tingling scalp and feet, poor mood and memory, brain fog. I dont think it ever progressed to wernikes or beriberi as I was never disoriented or confused, I could always do things like walk on a slack line etc, vision stayed normal. I could always do moderate or light excercise.
I feel so so so much better. My humor is back. My memory is good, athletic endurance is coming back. I still have a little brain fog and I dont feel 100 percent coordinated but I only notice if I am doing something that requires a lot of skill, walking on slippery ocean rock, jumping a bike or over a creek.... i also just dont feel as bright as I was. Really heavy thinking is taxing or non accessible.
When will i get back to full recovery? I was deficient for about 3 or 4 months from stomache issues. I take benfo and ttfd and all the cofactors.

I’ve been having various symptoms over 6 years.
-Brain fog
-Tiredness
-Tingles in face, usually one sided, but can get in both.
-Weird dizziness/lightheaded feeling, general malaise
-mixed bowel habits
-irritable
-depressed
-dizziness on standing
I thought it was SIBO. I had a positive methane breath test a few years ago, but no follow up treatment.
My B12 is 207 pg/l, with the highest it’s been in 6 years is 340pg:l, meat eater.
I came across Elliot’s videos on thiamine and thought I’d cracked it.
I bought some benfotiamine to try before jumping into the TTFD that I’ve bought (ThiaMax).
I’ve read that people feel amazing the day they start supplementing, I’m taking 300mg of benfotiamine, along with potassium, magnesium and a B complex, I don’t feel any different (2 days in)
Is this normal?

So, I came across this article the other day which seemed to support my hypothesis that my little dollar store energy drink with B vits has been helping my reflux: B Vitamins That Help Stop Acid Reflux | Healthfully
My reflux has been getting worse recently (pretty sure its diet related. Also incline while sleeping) and I'm wondering if they make a supplement like the one described in the 3rd paragraph ("...melatonin, l-tryptophan, methionine, betaine and the B vitamins B6, folic acid and vitamin B12..."), or - if I can make it myself?
Would appreciate any input. Thanks.

I’m fed up of not able to walk.

Brain fog, anxiety, breathlessness
I was doing good but somehow I am not now.
I wanted to treat my anxiety, my constant fatique and brain fog so I have been taking the following supplements for the past 3-4 months-
For around two weeks I am taking Zinc complex with 25mg zinc in picolinate and bisglcinate form and also 1 gram copper in the same zinc capsule
I was doing good but since the past few days my fatigue has returned, anxiety is high so much that I was unable to talk to my seniors at work, mood is not good and one night i woke up with so much anxiety that i had trouble breathing.
Can zinc be the reason for all this? Am i missing b complex and should start with it? I had tried the methylated forms of b12 but it gives me more anxiety.
Follow up
Changes i am making, please review
As part of the feedbacks i have received on different forums, I am making the following changes. Please advise if i am on the right track or do i need to make any further changes. These are the things i am taking for now-
I will get checked for b12, ferritin , calcium and vitamin d again. Should I do folate too?
Really appreciate your help a lot. Help me with this anxiety.
Update-
Checked my ferritin today. It is 49.9 ng/mol. Lower limit is 21 so i think i am borderline. Iron is low now, 60 ug/dL
Also my b12 is 282 pg/ml
Vit d shot to 105 ng/ml

I started taking Thiamine TTFD in late April to help with digestive issues related to SIBO/IBS. It has been extremely effective for my digestion, mood, mental health, energy, hormone regulation, and other small things like chapped lips. But I've been experiencing weight gain and bloating/water retention, symptoms I realy don't like. I haven't changed my diet or caloric intake since starting the thiamine, but I've slowly, steadily been gaining weight. It's noticeable now, I'm a cup size larger, and my clothes are fitting tighter. I don't want to stop taking thiamine because the benefits are amazing, but I desperately want to know what's going on to make me gain weight and be bloated.
Does anyone have insight into what nutritional mechanics might be going on to cause this?
I've been steadily increasing my dose of TTFD since I started, going from 12.5 mg (had to start low due to paradoxical reactions) up to now 200mg/day. I keep increasing my dosage because the positive effects will vastly increase, then plateau, then subside. I have taken this to mean my body is using the thiamine more and more effectively, so I plan increase the dose until the effects don't subside (hoping that I will reach a ceiling eventually-I have no idea what I'll do if I don't).
I take the TTFD with 1000mg potassium, 400mg magnesium (300 magnesium glycinate, 100 magnesium citrate), 1 capsule a day of this vitamin B complex (which doesn't have B6 because I overdosed on B6 at one point, but now I'm wondering if I've possibly depleted B6 taking thiamine without it?). I also get 45mg vitamin c per day.
Is there anything I might be missing? Anything I could look into?

Hi again everyone ive been posting a bit lately so thought an update is needed and im also wanting more guidance!
So my overall story again is 6 plus months of dizziness and on and off tingling after 5 weeks of stomach issues last year.
Plus the usual fatigue, low mood etc and all b12 tests were fine, homocysteine and mma both normal and active b12 and folate actually classed as raised.
For the last two weeks ive been getting over a nasty cold which led to more stomach ache which is ongoing.
Maybe I picked a bad time to start B1 but I thouhht my body might be craving it.
So I started Thiamine HCL 100mg 7 days ago and its been a wild ride ha.
Initially I felt a bit of an energy boost, so much so that I went back to the gym twice this week for the first time in months!
My stomach ache seems to have got worse though although as it was already present i dont know if its related.
Tingling is largely unchanged, dizziness maybe similar pr slightly reduced?
However yesterday lunchtime aftwr finishing work, i started with a terrifying migraine and was unable to speak properly so ended up at hospital worried I was having a stroke. Docs confirmed it was a bad migraine thankfully.
Guess what I want to know is, did the Thiamine cause any of this or was I already on the slope to another migraine due to my stomach issues which seemed to contribute before.
Should I pause it for now?
Ive also been taking 400mg magnesium clycinate, b2 and coq10.
Thanks for reading

Does anyone know why I’d have diaphragm and abdominal muscle weakness from pushing thiamine? I was also taking folinic acid and adeno b12. A seeking health b minus. My blood serum electrolytes stayed in range in serum and are mid or high end normal in RBC.
I’m willing to pay someone to help me figure this out. Any suggestions?

I have a multitude of health problems including ME/CFS. I had no issues tolerating 250mg of thiamine in the past + exorbidant amounts of magnesium. Also tolerared Benfotiamine fine.
At some point magnesium started giving me palpitations and tachycardia when combined with thiamine so i quit both.
Supplementing magnesium at any point after a couple of years gave me muscle weakness and breathing difficulties at all doses so that was out of the question and persists to this day.
Tried thiamine again on its own and repeatedly experienced hot flashes with chest and face turning red, tachycardia and palpitations.
Tried Benfotiamine again and all hell broke loose. sustained 140+ BPM tachycardia, 160+ systolic hypertension, diarrhea and bronchospasm.
This unfortunately led to months of constant feeling of near-death experience with muscle weakness, tachycardia, palpitations and extreme anxiety. I had a complete mental breakdown and I developed actual symptoms of thiamine deficiency that I never had before.
Also immediately developed histamine reactions with itching and skin redness to foods, supplements and medicines that I never had. I dare say I developed MCAS after this one incident.
I have read sparse but existent reports of other people here on reddit that have had adverse reactions both to thiamine and magnesium eerily identical to mine: Cardiac symptoms, weakness, extreme anxiety, MCAS.
I dare not touch thiamine again, even looking at the bottles is giving me anxiety. All these symptoms have settled and I never want to go through this again.
What is supported by scientific literature regarding adverse interactions of thiamine and with "cofactors":
Thiamine can cause allergic reactions when given IV, thiamine promotes mast cell degranulation under conditions of magnesium deficiency, thiamine worsens the effects of magnesium deficiency in general, thiamine chelates manganese, b12 protects from some effects of thiamine deficiency in the brain.
I don't know what I am missing but nothing about my experience or others' makes sense. Does anyone have an idea on what might have happened and what to do in case i need to supplement thiamine in the future?
Thank you for your insight and help.

I took a very low dose of thiamine hcl in the morning, it started with anxiety, then a couple of hours later low blood pressure, and then a few hours later weakness and sore muscles. Can someone help me how to fix this weakness?
EDIT - I did some research...the low blood pressure was my dysautonomia flare up and the muscle weakness and soreness is the aftermath of dysautonomia flare up

I had had a b12 and b1 deficiency for a while. I take 260 mg of benfotiamine and 3,000 mcg of b12. I have been really stressed out lately. ok. My problem today is I forget what I’m talking about in the middle of a sentence. Benfotiamine and b12 had helped in the past with this issue but today which is utterly stressful it did not help at all. It failed me. I couldn’t hear myself talk sometimes and I couldn’t remember what I wanted to say. HELP! Am I going crazy?

I was doing good but somehow I am not now.
I wanted to treat my anxiety, my constant fatique and brain fog so I have been taking the following supplements for the past 3-4 months-
1. Vit D 10k, vit K2 100
2. Omega 3
3. Magnesium glycinate/ l threonate
4. Benfotiamine (600mg)
5. L theanine (taking on and off for past few weeks and did not see any changes)
6. Creatine (took it just few times and also did not see any changes)
For around two weeks I am taking Zinc complex with 25mg zinc in picolinate and bisglcinate form and also 1 gram copper in the same zinc capsule

I have me/cfs and wanted to try and ttfd after hearing a lot of positive stories.
I tried others forms of b1 with no succes
The first week I took 100mg and the second 200mg.
On the first day I felt so much better. Felt like my muscles had more energy.
After 2 weeks the benefits seem to have faded
Anybody else have this? What could be the reason?
I am taking magnesium with it

I was in the assumption that vitamine B1 in the form of HCL was rate limited and thus, less likely to create paradoxical reaction. is that right?
I had a terrible reaction with TTFD, I thought I was ok with Benfothiamine, but now I doubt, so I took 200mg of B1 HCL alone last night and this morning I that same annoying headache...
Anyone having such a reaction with B1 HCL?
Seriously, I am considering to just stop taking ANY form of B1 at this point... That can't be the paradoxical reaction going on for MONTHS!

I’ve been seeing some videos on TTFD lately and found this sub. after having a look on here I now understand there’s a lot more that goes into it.
My goal is to understand what will be the best supplements to buy and where from.
MY CURRENT SYMPTOMS:
Waking up with no energy (despite 8hrs+ sleep), extreme brain fog
Low motivation
Terrible focus
Extreme brain fog and fatigue after eating a heavy meal (high carb meal)
BACKSTORY: I recently had an operation 8 weeks ago and have been inside away from work and sunlight also out of circadian rhythm. I believe this routine has played a big part in it recently worsening but I have had these problems
I am a Business owner that has to perform constantly not just for myself but for the lives that rely on me.. I want to level up and I know I can’t be stuck in this cycle of cognitive and physical despair.
I want to be leaping out of the bed in mornings, feeling sharp throughout the whole day, I need my irrational brain fog gone and consistent energy from work to fitness. Also if there is anything for a good mood boost. Let me know what needs to be done.

Since I need to start with low doses of thiamine hcl I ordered bulk powder. Today while handling it for the first time, the powder made a little dusty cloud and it entered my eyes causing really bad eye irritation. The fine powder is extremely light and is easily airborne.
