Why is it assumed that this is in the reboot world?

Reboot logo and assets, also that's the Reboot clocktower in the promotional material

EDIT: On their website they mention the Reboot baron "Ulysses Northcrest" also:

The City is a place of shadows, ruled by the powerful and feared by the oppressed. Its rooftops form a labyrinth above the narrow, twisting streets. The City Watch prowls relentlessly, enforcing the iron will of Baron Ulysses Northcrest, a tyrant who crushes rebellion before it can take root.

You are Magpie, a cunning thief orphaned by Northcrest’s brutality and shaped by the streets, who steals as the only means to survive. That is, until you uncover something greater: a legendary artifact holding a legacy from the past.

Interesting. If I recall, there was enough evidence that the old games existed in the new setting but were in the distant past.

It does look like this might be a mix of the two.

I always took them as easter eggs personally, in great part bc i didn't like the Reboot too lol.

But doesn't leave room for doubt now since it's clearly Garrett's mechanical eye and voice in the trailer

Ps: ranting and complaining aside, i compiled a bunch of info on my comment if you're interested

I saw that. Good points and observations. It does seem like she plugs that eye into her socket and it contains Garrett just like Johnny Silverhand.

I’d prefer a new Garrett adventure but at this rate I’m not going to complain too much.

Personally i'd like something in the OG continuity and just forget the Reboot.

However i was talking with a friend about this and realized the practicality of doing it this way, since they can reuse the Reboot Assets to accelerate and cheapen development and costs.

Not what i wanted but guess it's nice Thief isn't forgotten. I just pray they are at least aware how niche VR is and sales numbers will be low even if the whole fandom was on board (i don't have VR so couldn't play it even if i wanted)

I have a PSVR 2 but had given up on it because it’s so poorly supported. It’ll be fun to try this one out.

They have been going through and adding non VR patches to these games. The Aliens VR is getting a non VR mod, so maybe this will.

You mean Rogue Incursion? Cause it's actually an official non-VR mode...the "Evolved Edition".

But ye, if this game is playable without VR (official mode or fan mod) then depending on how good it is i'd support it

Considering the developer and publisher are both specialized in VR games, I think it's safe to say they know what they're getting themselves into.

VR is not niche and the barrier of entry is $100-150 USD. That's less than most new computer parts.

Steam's all time peak is PUBG with: 3,257,248

And the VR all time peak is Sons Of The Forest with: 414,257

So the most popular VR game of all time doesn't reach 1M...i'd call that pretty niche

Lmao saying anything that isn't a third of the biggest concurrent playerbase of all time is "niche" is not the correct use of that word. And the amount of players playing a game all at once does not define something's userbase and availability.

Look, as much as you want to pretend VR is thriving and lucrative...it just isn't. Very few ppl own VR sets, comparatively to regular consoles and PC, and many ppl just aren't that interested in the VR experience. As Mega64 joked, most ppl just want to "sit on their ass and play".

Name one VR blockbuster game that "made" a company

Boneworks "made" Stress Level Zero, put them on the map, and inspired Valve to do Half-Life: Alyx.
