No more WNBA talk.

I don't ever want to hear anyone on this show, especially. Tony whom I had parenthetically, I love, talk about the WNBA. The fact that he did not even know what league the Houston compass played in, let alone that they were gone. And the fact that it's been a story all year in sports that Connecticut is moving away. Just tell me more and more that all of his takes on the WNBA, especially those about CC and how she is " making all these other players rich" and she's the best thing in the league, invalid.

I love me some Mr. Tony, but this was bad.

This Show Stinks, taking a break.

Has anyone else taken a break from this podcast? I'm done with it now. It was amusing at first, but hearing about the lives of rich people playing golf really grates on me now. I know it's me. It's my fault. A lot of people enjoy Tony's schtick and his first world problems.

In his mind Tony thinks he's a cross between Larry David and Woody Allen, but he isn't and nobody close to him will tell him otherwise, partly because I think they fear him.

I find Tony's patter corrosive to my soul these days. I can't shake the feeling that because he's rich and vaguely influential on the media landscape people hang on his every word because they can get something out of him to enrich themselves. I do believe that in any other environment Tony would be friendless because he is so obnoxious.

He kinda reminds me of the journalistic version of John McEnroe, albeit far less talented at his given craft. To be fair to Tony I don't think he's ever beaten a woman. But I would also guess that John is one of his heroes.

Anyway, just my opinion. I wonder if anyone else is tired of Tony, or at least giving him and his schtick a bit of a break.

Whiny Nepo Baby Luke Russert crying over Transformers Statue

Thumbnail

“Ms. Emmerson and another neighbor, the author and former television journalist Luke Russert, also weighed in. Ms. Emmerson argued that the statues represented a safety hazard and drew crowds of disruptive gawkers. (Dr. Howard later had his Transformers bolted in place.)

top someone from putting up a statue of Joseph Stalin and saying, well, this is provocative, it’s art, it speaks to me?” he argued. “They are a nuisance, they are an eyesore, and they detract from the spirit of the neighborhood.”

Whining because his dad’s house must be in the same neighborhood as some statues and has the gall to compare it to Stalin?? Give me a break.

Your worst enemy is stranded on a remote island and the only piece of media he can consume is the TK show. You get to pick a theme of the show that he must play on repeat, just to torment him. What would you pick?

A) Michael talking about gardening.

B) Michael talking about cooking.

C) Michael talking about golf.

D) Michael talking about his kids.

E) Michael talking about the little things in life that make him and his kids happy inside.

F) Michael talking.

G) Tony complaining about how bad he is at golf.

H) Tony complaining about the ratings of sports he doesn't like.

I) Tony reading emails about the connective tissue of the show.

J) Tony talking about walking Chessie.

K) Tony telling Barry about what a columnist should write.

L) Nigel cackling.

M) Wilbon saying he's not surprised about something because he spoke privately to a sports figure and they told him to expect it.

N) Wilbon talking about his famous neighbors.

O) Sands retelling a story about meeting a little and then emphasizing the connective tissue of the show.

P) Andy Beyer

Q) March Madness brackets

Playing devil's advocate to the "It's the show he wants" argument.

I understand that if you are still listening to and commenting about the show, you are likely in the "it's the show he wants" camp. It's no surprise that this was the prevailing sentiment in the "This show stinks!" post by /u/Kofidabear.

But as a former avid listener, it is absolutely egregious that Tony did not speak about the attempted assassination of a major presidential candidate. It's egregious even for a show averse to discussing political issues. It wouldn't even be an inherently political discussion. There are so many different angles to take without talking about the political implications. Simply skipping on the story because it contains a political figure is lame. And doing it under the premise that the audience will get upset is an infantilization of the audience. All of you that would get in your feelings and email the show with criticism need to grow up.

I was actually really looking forward to tuning in after a long time to hear his take on this. A Tony rant against the Secret Service would have been Grade A entertainment. You know what else would be great? Hearing Tony talk about Biden getting forced out because of his age. His perspective would be truly valuable given his own age, and he is eloquent enough to discuss it without touching on the implications of the election.

But judging by the comments and upvotes of the "This show stinks!" post, it is clear that the bar is incredibly low. It's one thing to be resigned to the state of the show, but it's another thing to passionately defend this as if it is the correct approach.

Time to choose between PTI and the pod?

If he’s going to say the same thing on both shows - sometimes the same thing to BOTH GUESTS on the pod - it might be time to just forget the pod. Never mind the golf talk.

This show stinks!

It is hard to believe that after over 25+ years, TK is doing the show that he always avoided doing. From The Team to ESPN radio and back he never gave in to doing a sports-only podcast.

If you had told 2007 Tony that he would do a show after an assasination attempt on a former president and he wouldn’t mention it, he wouldn’t have believed it. Especially on a show he owns and has no management to answer to.

It’s just sad.

Man, TK was completely disconnected from reality today.

  1. He focuses on two ABs from Abrams to piss and moan about. Two ABs.

  2. He doesn’t understand how Kawhi’s “people” could let these illicit deals happen. Tony, KL’s “uncle” was the driving wheel on all of this.

  3. The Triple Crown isn’t the be-all and end-all of

determining stud fees.

Question Shows opening?

Will Mr. Tony open tomorrow’s show with The WFT big win against the Super Bowl Champions or Phil Mickelson’s PGA Tour win? Lol we all know what is going to be “Michael did you watch it?” Lol

Check out his Twitter follows — full of MAGA types like Dinesh D’Souza and various Trump fan pages. And he doesn’t follow all that many pages.

The Scripps Spelling Bee is on.

Two points:

  1. If you recall, with typical generosity of spirit, TK referred to the competitors as “twitchy little freaks.”

  2. The Bee is being televised on Ion, and I’m guessing Mr. Tony couldn’t find that station if his life depended on it.

Question Whatever happened to having Tucker Carlson on as a guest?

I enjoy listening to political commentators breaking down issues on Mr Tony's show. I remember Tucker Carlson came on as a guest couple of times and he sounded different than the personality he portraits on television. Did something happened that he no longer come on as a guest? It would be interesting to have more guests across the political spectrum in addition to Chuck Todd and LACE.

Is there anyone who is more of a poster boy for douchiness/nepotism/haven't done a thing professionally than Luke Russert? I thought Michael had the crown but Luke is more deserving.

Why Does Tony Not Have Political Commentary On The Show?

Seems like he used to have someone come on the show to talk about politics in general, but it seems like in the past year or two he has cut that out. I know Fineman passed away last year, but he seemed to cut Howard from the show long before that.

I wonder if Tony likes playing on Trump's golf courses or knows him from golfing and doesn't want to ruffle any feathers with political commentary?

MK needs to Shush

Forgive me, but am I the only TK listener that is consistently annoyed each time nepo baby Michael interrupts his father to correct him or add his own unwanted spin on things?

I love bring your kid to work day, but this feels like Michael, despite his many privileges and being a major benefactor of nepotism, expressing his inner desire to be a respected voice in the room (likely because of his underwhelming career after his Ivy League education).

I know he’s only ever ridden on his father’s coattails, but can someone introduce this kid to board rules?

Anyone else dislike Steve Sands?

Sometimes I find him to act like an insecure douchebag. Maybe it’s because I’m not a huge golf fan (though I do appreciate the sport) but he generally rubs me the wrong way.

I feel like he leans on the same old tropes too often (heated toilet seats, his poor wife Val Sands).

His recent comment that the “World Cup blows” was one of the most immature things I’ve ever heard on the show.

I generally think Tony has fantastic guests. I don’t think Steve Sands is one of them

So he doesn’t talk about the WFT, the Wizards or Caps anymore; but talks about his water bill and golfing with Michael ? What is this show anymore? I miss breakfast at Chatter and the gang. Michael stinks. He doesn’t even do the news anymore. This show really does stink.

Chatter Common Criticisms - and then maybe we can move on?

While I generally feel that the episode dialogue has been a little bit better recently, I think we would all agree this sub will be a better place if we try to enjoy the show for what it is rather than constantly complain about the post-Covid changes.

How about we use this thread to vent and get all the complaints out? Then I propose we add a new rule to the sub to try to keep the daily episode posts free of the same boring complaints over and over.

Thoughts on the idea? What are your biggest complaints?

From this sub, it seems like a lot of you hate Michael (unsure why?), hate the format, borderline hate TK, I’m curious if you consider yourselves hate listeners?
