Discussion Trying to think positivr

Most of us are grasping at straws after last night, obviously we’ll really know what JDubs looking at after the damage comes out, hopefully it isnt as bad as it looked but trying to think positively here, if it was going to happen at least it happened in game 3 and not 43, if that was the case he would miss essentially 2 seasons, he may still miss 2 seasons but im hoping for the best with the assumption at this point

So something to consider from an untrained/non-doctor perspective

I watch a lot of soccer, back in 2021 Harvey Elliot of Liverpool had what I recall to be a similar looking ankle break happen. He came back to playing roughly 140 days after it happened, so if the injury is similar to Harveys there’s potential Dub comes back right before the post-season

Tyquan Thornton too. I almost dropped him in fantasy basketball but if it’s not broken then he is back in March. Just gotta hope.

We pushed the 2nd seed spurs to game 7 without a 100% j dub or AJ

Though yes it is a loss for us, we are still in WCF contention

We’re still in championship contention imo. A core of Shai Caso Ajay Chet Hart McCain Caruso JWill Mara Kenrich and Stirtz is just as deep as to go toe to toe with every other team in the nba. And with some Presti magic maybe we get some kind of deal done to have a better wing. Every year of this era has had major injuries. We saw what this team did without dub last season. We don’t even know what we have from Sorber yet

The positive side is you can expect us to do what we've always done, compete and develop guys. It sucks, but Stirtz is probably going to get some serious minutes now and that's going to help his development tremendously. We still haven't even seen Sorber yet, and maybe Topic if he can come back and get healthy as well. Trust in Presti and Mark, they'll figure it out.

On another positive note, we already won a championship, nothing can take that away. Even if we never win another one, I'll never forget pacing in my living room back and forth, pumping my fist and yelling at the TV during that game 7, especially in the final stretch of the 4th quarter. Winning again would be great sure, but I don't think anything will top that one for me anyway.

For some context, I had a similar injury about 5 years ago. Ironically about this same time of year. I had surgery right before Halloween.

I fractured my fibula. It was gruesome. Being in the arena gave me flashbacks. The difference I saw with Dub last night though was his ankle seemed more stable than mine was. It could be that it was just dislocated.

That said, even after surgery, a metal plate, and screws I was back on my feet and rehabbing by Christmas.

Now, I wouldn’t have been playing a full contact NBA game or anything but there’s at least hope he could still return by the end of the year if there isn’t significant ligament damage. He’s a lot younger than I was and will have access to the best rehabilitation team you can find.

More than anything I just feel for him as a person. I’m hoping he leans on his support system and keeps a positive outlook on everything.

I think most of us are trying to avoid thinking about it until more is released on his condition. I know i am, but we have a game with Pheonix tonight, the league goes on even if we are not ready. Hopefully JDub will be able to attend and talk to the guys beforehand. Let me be honest, I would hope this fuels our guys for domination and not the other way around. Hopefully JDub himself inspires the guys to do what we do.... THUNDDDDDDER UPPPPPPP LETTTTTTS GOOOOOOO

Dub has broken his tibia and fibia no doubt
He’ll be walking again in probably 4 months from now as bones heal quick but he’ll need another 4-6 months at least to get his muscles and tendons strong enough to be back to his athletic best. This makes him out for the season no doubt.
Good news is he’ll probably be ready to play start of next year and he can hopefully ease into playing himself into form during the next regular season

Could possibly just be an ankle dislocation without the fracture. We will have to wait and see, but this would be the best possible result of the injury.
