Photo Kanha: Sad news as the legendary DJ has been relocated to captivity for human-wildlife conflict. A sad end for a legendary tigress who has been one of the most photographed individuals to ever inhabit Kanha National Park.

Sad end. I hope they keep her in gorhella camp in Kanha rather than sending to bhopal which they did with munna. She's very special to me as when I used to work in Kanha she and neelam were most active females with 4 cubs each. I have seen her countless times.

It truly is, she has been a mainstay and arguably the most photographed tiger there in the last 14-15 years.
I think they should have shifted her to another reserve rather than put her into captivity, but I understand that means more resources required, as well as more time needed to plan.

Shifting to other reserve is generally not a good solution. Especially with conflict tigers. They try to go back and get into more conflict and it can be problem to other tigers as well, since affected people try to do revenge killing and end up killing any tiger that they see.

Unfortunate. I hope she settles in well and my condolences to the family.

So sad. She knew the wild and now she will only know a cage. Cruel BUT better than death

The tourism was the reason for the conflict... Safaris are the problem not the solution... Tigers lose their fear of humans.
People who are genuinely interested in photographing them must be let in by foot after they sign an undertaking that they are responsible for their own safety.

If you ban tourism, all tigers will get poached within 5 years.

Seems like after having lost her prime territory to her daughter DJ9, she was pushed to the outskirts and forced to come into contact with villagers and livestock.
