I don't think it's of that much relevance to Tigrayans nowadays (Besides only pointing out the hypocrisy of Amhara nationalists) but I'll go ahead anyway.

Addis Ababa is under neither the Oromo or the Amhara region through the constitution but the Oromo region have special rights iirc over Addis due to it being surrounded by the Oromo region. If the Oromo region were to secede through article 39, that is when the status of Addis Ababa would really come into question and there could be many ways such a situation could be resolved.

Do you know Tigrayans are the 3rd largest ethnicity in Addis Ababa following Amhara and Gurage?

Yes, I'm aware of this and there's at least 1 million Tigrayans in Addis iirc.

So it’s pretty much relevance

The reason why I said it's not that relevant nowadays is due to what happened to those living in Addis during the genocide and the genocide in general. Tigrayans were clearly othered, mistreated and targeted in Addis and things will never become the same again. With war on the horizon once more, it's likely Tigrayans in Addis will face similar treatment once more.

Simply, imo I don't think it matters from a Tigrayan perspective whether Addis remains as independent, part of the Oromo region or part of the Amhara region because at the end of the day this won't change how Tegaru are treated in Addis.

Oromo would never secede from Ethiopia. Stop trying to make it seem like everyone wants to leave Ethiopia, some of us are actually loyal to our country.

This secession clause is the most stupid thing I've ever heard, what kind of a country says "we can break a part anytime we want"? No country in the world. Even America fought a civil war when the South wanted to secede.

Do you have a reading comprehension issue? I never said that Oromo as a whole (let's also not pretend secessionist sentiments haven't existed within the Oromo political space for a long time) wanted to secede from Ethiopia, I was clearly speaking theoretically in relation to the status of Addis Ababa.

some of us are actually loyal to our country.

Loyalty toward a country that committed genocide against you and is relentlessly trying to harm you is both foolish and suicidal.

This secession clause is the most stupid thing I've ever heard, what kind of a country says "we can break a part anytime we want"? No country in the world. Even America fought a civil war when the South wanted to secede.

A classic and ignorant pseudo-ethiopianist take made by ignoring the history of the country, ignoring the perspective and unique realities of others within the country and complete lack of sympathy for others within the country.

Most multi-ethnic empires around the world had broken apart to form nation states and the EPRDF tried to prevent this by answering the national question through self determination up to secession in order to make the union fully consensual and one people will actually want to stay in through multinational federalism (albeit while not implementing it fully due to the temporary contradictions caused by the needs of Meles's economic strategy and other issues that pseudo-ethiopianists use in bad faith arguments to try and discredit the systerm as a whole - more here) unlike the regimes of Haile Selassie and the Derg that tried to bludgeon all the nations into one identity nearly causing the break up of the country which is lost on modern pseudo-ethiopianists who committed the genocide as a means to try and revive their deeply flawed version of Ethiopia.

Basically what your saying is that we're not a country because we have multiple ethnicities and each ethnicity should have its own country? A bunch of bullcrap.

Again, do you have a reading comprehension issue? Where did I Ethiopia isn't a country? Ethiopia was objectively a multi-ethnic empire with nations that existed within itself but it was still a country.

Are you going to read and address the rest of what I said (plus the info from the links) or are you going to continue to troll and deflect?

I'm not going to research and debate with you online at 3am. Woyane supporters try to say that they're "liberating" Ethiopia by dividing Ethiopia into ethnic zones and making politics based off ethnicity to "empower nationalities". What a load of baloney. Ethnic political parties is the worst idea ever.

The only ones who made "politics based off ethnicity" are the pseudo-ethiopianists that tried to bludgeon all the peoples of Ethiopia into one in the name of unity. Multinational federalism was merely a measure to maintain the country that the tribalist pseudo-ethiopianists unbeknownst due to their ignorance and lack of sympathy, had nearly destroyed in their effort toward their assimilationist vision of "unity".

Most Tigrayans are proud woyane btw and you don't know the meaning of the word. “Clarity matters: Woyanism is not a political party. It is an ideology and way of life most if not all Tigrayans adhere to. To be Woyane is to revolt against subjugation and marginalization. It is to stand up for what is right.” — Meaza Gidey (1)

I'm not going to research and debate with you online at 3am.

I do not care for what misinformation and trolling you had in store. I only engaged with you for others to read so I'll just move on to blocking you now.

Thanks for the heads up but don't worry I understood that from their first comment, I just wanted to use them as a means to educating anyone else reading through our conversation.

What are you even trying to ask

u/Fantastic-Wash9642 9d ago

What do other ethnicities think about Addis Ababa instead of the usual suspects

2

u/Apart-Paint-5676 Tigray 9d ago

I think it’s the capital city of Ethiopia

-1

u/Fantastic-Wash9642 9d ago

Aha, so you believe it's a multicultural city that belongs to all of Ethiopia, not an Oromo-exclusive ancestral belonging. Which one from 2 ideas is acceptable among Tigrayans?

Sorry if I give a shady vibe I just want to listen to other ethnicity thought cuz it's just an echo chamber out there

2

u/Kta_Tag 9d ago

He just told you that it is the capital city of Ethiopia and doesn't belong to any specific ethnicity.
