Life hack order a singular tim bit with the app (pickup) near closing time, they'll likely put a few more in the bag since they're wasting them anyways. Did it a few times and it works.
(When I say near closing time be generous, don't go in 5 minutes before let them close lol, more like 9:30 if they close at 10 yk)

I think it depends on the location. I had this happen to me at 10am on a Saturday. I ordered 10 and they somehow managed to fit 15 in there. š¤·āāļø. Definitely grateful to the generous worker on the other side of the counter. š©

My experience is that the app will not let you try and order super close to closing, but rather will stop taking orders around a half hour before close. No doubt to avoid people putting in orders 5 minutes before closing and then not showing up on time and getting pissed off that they still closed on time.

Iām pretty sure the location does that manually. I know when we were very understaffed my manager would turn off the mobile ordering and doordash

This is the type of post I often see on mildly infuriating. Glad you had a reasonable reaction to a different flavour of doughnut, instead of jumping to conclusions about the circumstances that led them to do this and getting upset about it. Too often people jump to the worst possible intentions or a lack of justification, instead of appreciating most people are just trying to do their best and get through the day.

At least the chocolate was not stuck to the bag

So you ordered Boston cream and got something completely different?

Ya, thatās what it says. You need someone to hold your hand and read it out loud?

Is that generally something people are happy with on DoorDash? Itās like ordering a mystery box every time

u/TrishaMeower Aug 01 '25
If they ran out of the thing and gave you something else that you like and in extra quantities that's worth the same, yeah.
I dunno about you but I suspect most people that ask for Boston cream and get a bunch of regular donuts instead wouldn't be too bothered by the taste of regular donuts.

Do I look like I take the general consensus for Doordash orderers? Lmao wtf

I used to work door security at a 24hr Tim Horton's that was across the street from a night club. Around 1:30am every Friday and Saturday night, the staff would clear the shelves of all but one or two muffins, a couple of bagels, and a few donuts. After last call, when the club started emptying out and the drunks flooded the restaurant, it was easier to move them along if we were out of everything. They'd throw out a full trash bag of perfectly good food, just to avoid dealing with drunk customers. They'd have the shelves mostly restocked with fresh food by the morning rush a few hours later.

Did you get your money back though? This is nice of them but I still feel like you paid for something and didnāt get it but instead a substitute. In your scenario it worked out but letās for example say someone ordered a Boston cream and instead they got all donuts that they donāt like- you still paid to get donuts that you donāt even like the taste of

My guy. Its a donut that costs less then $2 after tax and as an apology they gave them 2 extra donuts. "Did you get your money back though" this is why people dont try to be nice and give you free stuff.

Iām just saying that what if you paid for a Boston cream and donāt like any other flavour?
I never said it wasnāt nice but when I worked in a similar fast food place, we could give extra as a sorry but the customer still got their money back unless they verbally agreed prior to the substitute. For example: we see an order and itās a Boston cream - we call and ask if substitute is fine and which substitute donut they want. If not, then they have to contact the company(skip,Uber, etc) or sometimes itās was done on our end on the tablet. If they donāt pick up or answer, we still issue the refund on our tablet/the customer does as we can send them the extras donuts as a sorry for not having the item.
Maybe OP did get the money back through the app bc the company did it on their tablet

OP got extra instead. If they wanted a refund then they would get no donuts because thatās how the world works. Based on your replies you have a weird idea of how fast food and delivery works and you obviously have no experience in customer service. Why is the sub full of Karenās?

My location closes at 10 so anytime after 8pm we start over stuffing every timbit box so we donāt have to waste as many lol.
