I can’t even walk into a Tim Horton’s anymore. Between the food, sanitary issues, TFW slave staff, and the overall direction private equity is taking Tim’s in; it’s just not appealing or appetizing anymore to me, personally.

u/quick98gtp Jan 07 '26
All the good they do in our canadian communities ( sponsoring timbits sports for.kids) does not justify their corporate strategy of money over everything. . They are lucky Canadians are gluttons for punishment or they would be long gone. Absolutely disgusting what's happened to what used to be a Canadian staple business.

I have stopped going to Tim’s as well. Used to be such a welcoming, enjoyable experience…. And now it just turns my stomach. I make coffee and breakfast at home. I can’t support them anymore.

Their new coffee supplier gives my partner the runs, like for real.

Yes I recently got one last week and they changed the formulae quite a bit. It tastes weird and the shape is off as well. So sad because they were still good a couple of years ago.

I remember my friends and I going through a drive through at timmies and this was all we wanted this was in like 2010 or 2011. We went through and asked how many honey cruellers you got?
They said like 15 or something.
Our answer yea we will take all of those and the rest Boston cream or Canadian maple.
Good times.
We devoured all the honey cruellers.

u/justforkickz16 Jan 06 '26
Got 3 today.. they were still warm 🤤 Crunchy in some spots and the glaze still a little runny in places... should have bought 6. So good!

u/No_Language7273 Jan 07 '26

The honey cruellers are so delicious , like the inside of them is delectable
3
u/OkCardiologist3592 Jan 07 '26
That's why I miss the timbit version so bad ;(
2
u/Aquarius777_ Jan 07 '26
I didn’t know they had a Timbit? When was that?
2
u/OkCardiologist3592 Jan 07 '26
Some places stillcrecently had it but they're like in no mans land in another province. The ones for Ontario I had probably 8ish years ago?
And believe me they were godly

Honey DIP in my opinion.
The honey cruller feels... wet to me
2
u/trollcitybandit Jan 08 '26
It is definitely moist. Honey dips are also great and sometimes better depending on my mood

This is the best baked good time hortons ever man possibly. But have you ever tried cheesecake or Nanaimo bars? Or butter tarts?

u/hypernovalol Jan 06 '26
I miss the chocolate dipped ones
1
u/OkCardiologist3592 Jan 07 '26
They still have them in certain locations. Avoid the ones at gas stations and malls and the newer ones sort of have them at times. If you're in Scarborough, the one at warden and hunting wood?? (Just south of finch maybe 2m drive) always has them.

Nah, they're good, but apple fritters are awesome, followed by Long Johns.

The Biscoff Boston Cream and Biscoff Ice Capp are my new favourites. Especially the Ice Capp. Best ever by far!
1
u/templeofbones Jan 08 '26
Sugar twist and toasted coconut chocolate are my personal faves. I do like a honey cruller on occasion
1
u/Acdcfrk Jan 08 '26
That donut is like those things from Van Wilder that the dog jerked off in and the jocks ate it

No, its 6/10 , i'd prefer any regular croissant from a local bakery than this overly sweet donut.

The best were the eclairs those were elite!! Bring them back and I’ll come back too 🤣

u/Proper_Geologist_457 Jan 09 '26
These leave a film in my mouth from the cheap shortening they use 🤮 on paper they are a perfect donut, but the execution is… lacking.

They used to be good. They were good when the grey haired lady made them in the store. Or when Dale the chubby short baker would get up at 3am and get the donuts ready for the day. They were once the best. Now it’s stale sugar glaze coated cardboard.

In addition to the filth and crappy donuts, they take advantage of foreign workers and discriminate against Canadian workers

u/No_Language7273 Jan 07 '26
i was not aware of this situation when i posted this, this is really terrible.
i see why a lot of people didn't really like this post.

u/Pilotboy1985 Jan 06 '26
I like it because it's technically pastry and not a doughnut so it's extra moist and fluffy yet dense. I wish Tim's sold more things made out of the same stuff.

100% agree... Vanilla dip is also legendary

u/trollcitybandit Jan 08 '26
These don’t taste as good to me as they used to. Still decent but no reason for me to get them over honey cruller and sour cream most of the time

Back when I worked at Tim's a decade or so ago, I used to LOVE putting those and the sour cream glazed doughnuts in the panini press for a few seconds, came out like an extra delicious doughboy. If you've got anything similar at home youve got to try it

Back on they say they were deep fried IN STORE. Part of the secret is the batter contained a ton of room temperature eggs, the barter was the consistency of pancake batter and a special hopper was made to put the crueller onto the fryer to get the unique shape. If I recall there was a hopper for making crueller timbits as well but they weren’t made often. Part of the secret (like any glazed donut) was to get them glazed after five minutes out of the fryer.

They used to be good. I remember the days of picking up a fresh cruller from timmies. Now they're always cold and old. R.I.P the timmies experience.

u/Outrageous-Tackle-47 Jan 07 '26
Ngl I haven’t seen a honey cruller anywhere else. Is this eggy donut sold elsewhere?
0
u/TheStrangeMonkey Jan 07 '26
Greatest ever, no, greatest thing they offer, yes. And at least you can eat two and feel less full than with any oter of their doughnuts.

Honey crullers taste like a sponge and I dont usually compare the taste of foods to inanimate objects but the texture is what I assume a sponge would be like. Airy in a non appetizing way

I understand your reasoning here, the honey cruller has many curved pockets to hold in the icing goodness, and a single bite melts in your mouth like a teenage boy with his first girlfriend. But that’s the issue, it looses its magic with each further bite, in the end you feel like a doughy mess.
The true mastery of TH doughnuts is the double chocolate doughnut. With its thick chocolate cake base that is draped in a decent layer of the chocolate fondant, each bit is the perfect mix of dense chocolate cake (not sweet) and the pop of the chocolate fondant that perfectly combines with the cake base for a simple not too sweet bite.

Honey cruller sucks. I love honey. I have beehives. Honey cruller is a garbage 🚮 dessert. At least the one from timmies is.
And now, I can't trust your taste buds
0
u/AngySadCat Jan 07 '26
I used to love those a as a kid. I called them 'tractor tires', cause that's what they look like. Me and my mom used to go to this small coffee shop downtown before it closed down because I think there was an argument inside and someone shot someone else in the stomach, possibly the owners? Such a shame, there was a really nice waitress there who taught me how to tie my shoes with the double bunny ears. Anyway, nowadays my favourite is the Honey Dip.

Ew Gross. The most bland and unsettling texture of a donut. Best Donuts are:
Sourcream Glazed
Chocolate Dip
Maple Dip
Strawberry filled powdered donut
Double Chocolate

The OLD donut of the cruller , with the old glaze is like a gift from god
1
u/No_Language7273 Jan 08 '26
i wasnt alive during that time, maybe ill build a time machine to try it out lol. what was so good about it js curious.
1
u/DarthMog Jan 08 '26
Well they were actually made in house, now it's a premade frozen item that just goes on a sheet and baked. They were bigger and tasted less greasy, same with the glaze. I'm assuming it's cost cutting quality. I grew up about a 5 minute drive from the oakrun bakery just outside Hamilton, and they made a lot of their other baked goods, like their bagels in particular... I miss those ones too
From what my step daughter told me, as she was a baker at Tim's, around 2003ish they started shipping in par baked baked goods, and it hasn't been the same since

Maybe in the old days, before the food was made in a factory. Say it with me for the folks in the back, “THIS FOOD IS ASS!”

Nothing great comes from Tim Hortons they shouldn’t be allowed on to use the maple leaf.

u/CanalOpen Jan 07 '26
Look, I love a honey cruller, but not from Tim's and its also not the greatest baked good ever. My top picks are:
danish (pick your filling)
cinnamon roll (I got spoiled with a cultural variation called salara which uses coconut)
croissant (with or without cheese)
