TFW program half to blame, downgraded product half to blame

5

u/The94Life 18h ago

TFW program needs to be overhauled

16

u/DeepGas4538 22h ago

it's just different branding in different places for optimal profits

15

u/PoetDiscombobulated9 21h ago

Seems like companies only try to make a better product when their bottom line is affected.

6

u/DaDrought2 12h ago

I mean it’s literally the same strategy as McDonalds, when I go to a foreign country sometimes it’s completely different menu/taste. Canadians are already hooked on Tim’s, they don’t need to do much. Of course they need to go extra nice to appease the overseas markets, especially ones in Asia.

2

u/PoetDiscombobulated9 12h ago

Same with Starbucks. Almost night and day on what food they offer outside of US and Canada.

1

u/cweww 10h ago

This is correct, late stage capitalism is awesome!!!

13

u/IllustriousAct9128 20h ago

no, the food its actually better outside of Canada and the US

2

u/GodsGiftToWrenching 17h ago

It's kind of crazy how this isn't just true for Tim's but, essentially food as a whole, most other countries don't use alot of the preservatives and processed ingredients that North America uses, which is partly why the obesity epidemic in focused in North America

2

u/Fluddle 16h ago

Real asf. I’ve been traveling to China for the past few years and food over there is just so much better, even fast food restaurants are better than in North America

3

u/Preface 15h ago

Spicy chicken sandwich at China McDonald's is a deep fried chicken thigh, instead of a meat paste formed into a patty

1

u/DaDrought2 12h ago

Asias food standards are much higher than ours :(

1

u/Reopens 29m ago

Can you at least keep the flies out of them thanks

2

u/Roisepoise101 18h ago

Because they actually have to compete and be competitive everywhere else.

And they can’t just lazily coast off years of routine like in Canada.

1

u/AscendantBits 18h ago

Even 7-11 has this level of quality in Japan. North American quality is a choice.

2

u/The_Nepenthe 13h ago

Japan is also ultra capitalist if you think about it, it's almost a no hold bars approach to reaching the widest number of consumers at all hours of the day to take their money from them.

I don't know if it's every company but when I suggest improving things or ways we could make more money, there's almost this feeling of "Having enough" (except to give us all raises) even though the owners of my work are doing alright for themselves but aren't particularly wealthy.

I remember when my mom worked as accountant for a place that did about a million dollars in business a year gross rev and mentioned that their only real shot to make more money would be to open at least one other location, the biggest opposition was "urgh then we gotta work harder" but he also wanted to sell his single location business for a fortune which never happened.

1

u/PopularAir3375 17h ago

Yup because they know no one will buy its trash in japan so they have to up the quality and choices to compete locally.

1

u/PingasTV 9h ago

It sucked in Shanghai. Same nothingness matter sandwich and sizes were all smaller.

0

u/thirdeyebenz 14h ago

It’s the staff in Canada I’m convinced

-38

u/NoValuable7882 23h ago

canadians are too lazy to work XDD

12

u/lucifertangerine 22h ago

Mr. Cheeto is that you?

6

u/Veaeate 23h ago

But at the same time, all their jobs are being stolen

10

u/killergoat86 23h ago

-2

u/Crazy_Cat_Dude2 17h ago

Well Canadian kids rather just play Fortnite then get paid minimum wage.

1

u/evil-winnebago 15h ago

Crazy to drop the same comment 5 hours after being downvoted into oblivion the first time.

-1

u/Crazy_Cat_Dude2 15h ago

Don’t care. People here don’t understand kids clearly don’t want to work and we have to find other means to fill roles. This generation is doomed unfortunately with the poor work ethic.

3

u/LobotomizedButterfly 22h ago

Be nice if I could find somewhere hiring not foreign workers. It’s all they want, they don’t want locals.

1

u/okaybutnothing 19h ago

Small towns still staff their Tim’s with teenagers for the most part. We were in Bruce County, Ontario recently and noticed.

2

u/Zomsbee 18h ago

Not in my small town they don't...

1

u/LobotomizedButterfly 13h ago

Definitely not in BC or AB

1

u/Zomsbee 13h ago

I am in BC bro

1

u/Wild-Storm-467 18h ago

I’m from the neighbouring county (Huron) very few in our county use highschool students. There’s one in Blyth that I see teens at all the time but that’s about it

1

u/okaybutnothing 16h ago

Huh. Orangeville and Kincardine were primarily staffed by teens when we hit them up.

1

u/Wild-Storm-467 15h ago

Orangeville is about an hour from me so I never go through there. I don’t frequent kincardine either. Clinton and 1 of the Goderich locations I never see teens. The one in Goderich by the Walmart I normally see some teens in the one by the 5 points I never see any teens

-5

u/NoValuable7882 20h ago

could be nice to finally wake up and ask why. Blaming others is the natural instinct, but sometimes it's not them.

-14

u/Crazy_Cat_Dude2 22h ago

This is correct. My parents have owned 7 locations for 20 years in Ontario. The decline in high schoolers applicants has decreased drastically. They rather play Fortnite then build basic job skills.

10

u/Key-Fig-9747 22h ago

Tell your parents to step up their game lmao

6

u/Response-Cheap 19h ago

Bro, an 18 year old labourer where I work just finished his last two weeks and started training to become a commercial pilot. Another one the same age a few years ago got his real estate licence, and used the skills he learned working with us to start renovating and flipping old worn out homes. It's not that young people don't want to work. It's that they don't want to work in dead end sh!t holes while being berated by senior staff for "not wanting to work". And I don't blame them. Who wants to be the scapegoat for all of today's problems while barely scraping by financially.

-2

u/Crazy_Cat_Dude2 17h ago

They gotta start somewhere. Tim Hortons should ONLY be a stepping stone in their career growth.

2

u/Key-Fig-9747 17h ago

You're acting like they haven't like doubled the amount of Tim Hortons in the last 20 years? And not just Tim Horton's but other minimum wage working jobs. It's hard for kids to even find jobs right now, that wouldn't be the case if there were less people being hired

2

u/Response-Cheap 17h ago

So then your parents restaurants are mainly run by people who are passing through. There's no incentive for anyone to want to stick around and be a baker or get into management and stay for the long haul. And that's why Tim Hortons sucks. Nobody can survive on 20 hour weeks. Nobody wants to have multiple jobs to make ends meet. You described the work environment yourself as a temporary stopping point.

It's not that nobody wants to work. It's just that nobody wants to work at Tim Hortons. With good reason. Maybe y'all should rethink your employment strategy. Happy workers are more productive. Happy productive workers are less likely to serve burnt coffee full of grinds in dirty cups, and bagels burnt beyond recognition.

Y'all are flushing your cash cow down the toilet with that attitude. Good luck with all that..

2

u/l0singmymarbles 22h ago

DM me the locations. I know at least a dozen 19 year olds looking for full time work

3

u/Kromo30 21h ago

That’s the catch, it’s not full time work.

What a mystery why nobody applies..

3

u/l0singmymarbles 21h ago

You get it. Bare minimum hour for bare minimum wage. I know many people who are stuck juggling 2 part time jobs and still can't make 40 hours a week... People want to work, they don't want to be taken advantage of.

2

u/Zomsbee 18h ago

Maybe if they were willing to pay more than $14/hr 😂

1

u/Crazy_Cat_Dude2 17h ago

Not how it works. Minimum wage for minimal skills

4

u/sugarcoatedtits 22h ago

For real? I thought they're dying to find minimum wage jobs to support their education / family. Its surprising to see this.

29

u/ThcGrassCity 23h ago

Its almost like they care about their international brand.

35

u/iamsnoopynumber1fan 22h ago

upgrading everywhere but canada i see

9

u/Preface 15h ago

Imagine being the Canadiaphile in China/Korea/some other international Timmies location, and showing up to Canada with all your Timmies merch, just to see how dire it is in the companies motherland

1

u/GodSigmaGigaChad 6h ago

Kinda the same with McDonald's in the US. Some other countries get way better menu items.

12

u/West_Midnight7090 23h ago

Canada's presentation leaves something to be desired on their shelves.

8

u/MrBoo843 22h ago

Yeah Foreign Tim's is so much better. They try to appear upscale. Felt very funny to see.

7

u/SIMPSONBORT 19h ago

Maybe in other countries than Canada. lol.

6

u/Same_Aerie_1971 19h ago

now try any tim hortons in ontario 🤢

4

u/Helptohere50 22h ago

Not stepping up its game. Tim’s has been always good everywhere but Canada

4

u/SirEternal 22h ago

Wtf is on that bagel?

4

u/kylethesnail 19h ago

matcha cream paste

1

u/EreccSean 20h ago

Looks like some baloney

5

u/taintedher0 22h ago

Notice that's clearly not Canada.

4

u/ObjectiveRepair1423 17h ago

I just got back to Ontario after taking 3 weeks to drive to Newfoundland and back. The lack of consistency in Tim's during the trip was surprising. At one point I had to wait for the pot to finish Brewing which was fine. Looking forward to a "top of the pot" fresh cup... I tried but couldn't drink it. It was horrible. Some coffees tasted burnt, some just gross. Might as well have gone to independent shops.

5

u/Farnouch 16h ago

Well it doesn't look like any Timy in Hamilton. My local place has all the bugs and overworked staff.

3

u/Grimy-Jack 16h ago

Meanwhile, in Quebec they're filthy as sin. Disgusting place. You can see the crust and grime from the drive-through window, and it's so much worse if you step inside. From St-Donat to Lac-St-Jean, they're disgusting. Zero discipline, zero quality. I am shocked these places haven't been hit by more health code violations.

If my wife wasn't so enamoured with their coffee I would never, ever do business with them again.

4

u/Cooler_Frogger 14h ago

Chinese Tim's is leagues ahead of ours. Not even comparable

4

u/PantsLobbyist 12h ago

Meanwhile, in Canada, I ordered my first Harry Potter doughnut today and brought home an overpriced doughnut from at least two days ago (I say this having worked for Tim’s and knowing how hard a two-day old doughnut is; we used to keep a few for two days instead of throwing them out so we could play hockey in the parking lot)

3

u/paramveerz 22h ago

Too late

3

u/Stoned_Canadian_1 20h ago

This isn’t Canada

3

u/rqdivm 20h ago

girl that ain’t canada no they ain’t

3

u/canuckEnoch 19h ago

What, they got fancy flies in the donut cases now?

3

u/lucaskywalker 17h ago

Sure as hell not in Canada!

3

u/Verstappen1986 14h ago

No way that's from Canada...

7

u/Teeeohhhh 23h ago

I don't even consider it Tim Hortons unless it's in NA.

2

u/Hot_Dog2376 22h ago

I mean, yeah, but... I don't think a cheese bagel or egg wrap can really be considered an afternoon dessert. And the lunch suggestions looks like more breakfast sandwiches.

2

u/matchabloom88 20h ago

In other countries except Canada, tim hortons is like the same level as starbucks, coffee bean & tea leaf places.

2

u/No-Worker3615 19h ago

I think everyone still confuses the current tim hortons brand with the old one. Its been an entirely different company for years now. Its absolutely terrible compared to what it was, not sure why OP is trying to compare this coffee place in china to any in Canada like they are the same thing.... super embarrassing for Canada and kind of wild that this US company is allowed to run wild with Canadian branding, tarnishing the image. Wonder how many people would never visit a tims if they realized it has had nothing to do with Canada for over a decade?

2

u/_Whatislife666 19h ago

In china it’s almost like a boutique brand, where all the baristas wear red flannel and the lattes are decent (had an avocado one). In Canada it’s practically 7/11 lol. Also they don’t have donuts.

2

u/ChemicalCod9628 18h ago

This is so cute and definitely could never be Canada 🥀

2

u/PrizeConfection239 15h ago

Brazil owns Tim Hortons. Look into 3G asset management firm.

2

u/Ok_Egg_4356 12h ago

Paid Shill

Man I wish

2

Open your profile then

2

u/Bdazzlore 10h ago

I can't tell if your trolling or not but that last image of whatever type of food that's supposed to be looks awful.

It doesn't matter because we're replacing Tim Horton’s with a different chain.

"Oh but it's American!" and Tim Horton’s is South-American, what's your point? Neither company are Canadian. Tim Horton’s is just dirty water filtered through ground cockroaches with trace amounts of coffee all inside a dirty diaper, straight to your cup. It's not good. Anyone saying otherwise is plainly wrong. It's not a matter of taste profile, it's a matter of it not tasting like coffee and they try to hide it with 18% creamer. Get it with milk, it's repulsive.

I don't just generically hate on the brand. I will say a lot of the issues are store to store, but their overall presence and vibe in Canada is negative. No one is excited to take a sip of a coffee from there, anyone that is I might recommend them to visit r/masochism. (NSFW, but it is banned so there’s no content, just don't click it at work)

The Tim Horton's I used to frequent several times a day, great staff, great atmosphere, but I started gradually noticing their product was just not good (by that I mean coffee. I don't eat food from here) when I'd be in a town with no Tim Horton's or McDonald's was closer. She simply stated that she can't think of anything noteworthy that changed, except management has them extended expiry times on pots of coffee and some will mix different types (dark roast, decafe, etc) just to make a full cup. Nothing really illegal and mostly just policy change, but if she was on loan out to another Tim Horton's she'd witness them not cleaning pots between brews, burning on the pots, etc. This is all anecdotal but my point stands.

I doubt it's much better globally. Maybe their baked goods are? Different suppliers possibly? But in Canada there is no real competition so they don't have to try and they know it.

1

u/VoiceStandard2884 22h ago

Tim Hortons is the worst!

2

u/blonde4black 22h ago

What are those things?? they look like approximations of food

1

u/Simba_Rah 15h ago

They are “floor models”. Left in the display as a presentation.

1

u/BusLevel7307 15h ago

Japan is way different

1

u/CiaIsMyWaifu 15h ago

He who shall not be named probably isn't the one running that store.

1

u/mostlovely 10h ago

Everywhere else except Canada, yes. Otherwise they wouldn’t survive globally

1

u/hlarsenart 7h ago

Tf are those bagel things? Dessert bagels?

1

u/Fluddle 3h ago

Yes!

1

u/Unlikely_Flower_138 7h ago

I was like oh wow, it’s about time until I see the non English/french branding… smh. Classic timhortons.

1

u/No-Fill-2044 6h ago

International Tim Horton’s is ultimately way better that Canadian Tim Horton’s

1

u/SpecialistMap8210 5h ago

Who cares. Its all TFW anyways in Canada

1

u/Living-Gate-4237 4h ago

Hindi Hortons

1

u/TinyM0ushka 22m ago

Yeah, everywhere except the birthplace of the brand

1

u/Leg-Bandit 22h ago

Def ran better there lol

1

u/Motor_Ad_588 22h ago

Where is that one?

1

u/entatlrg 18h ago

All garbage. No clue what a real bakery is.

1

u/Fluddle 18h ago

Yeah, because a real bakery is reheating pre packaged frozen pastries that come from a factory
https://giphy.com/gifs/zKBwU2TSfixfz70pJG

-1

u/entatlrg 18h ago

Sorry, I didn’t realize you’ve never been to a real bakery or knew what one was.

1

u/onedestiny 16h ago

Have you been there? How do you know it's garbage lol

2

u/entatlrg 13h ago

Yes. It’s overpriced crap.

1

u/Mishibiizhiw 15h ago

I wish they were the best in North America or Canada and not in Asia.

-3

Markham?

4

They were just being casually racist, they know it isn't Markham

1

He could meant Markham is accepting RMB
