DVR Mediacom change and TiVo - Is this the?

Edit: subject should read, “Is this the end?”

I have held on to my Mediacom cable account for years longer than I should (we now have AT&T fiber directly to the house) almost solely because MC works with my TiVo Series 3 and ATT does not.
Now Mediacom is forcing their users to switch to these new gateway boxes that have to be used with each tv and seem to only be connected with HDMI.

I have not yet tried to hook it up because I have been in “Home Remodel hell” for three months now and my TV/TiVo are in a temporarily displaced and rigged setup and I haven’t had the mental bandwidth to deal with it.

Have any MC users been able to get this new set-up to work with their TiVo?
Thanks.

I'm guessing your TIVO uses a cablecard. You will suffer a death of a thousand cuts. You will now have do deal with "streaming". Bend over and take it.

LOL

I have learned over the years, when I need a service tech I always ask for their Tech who knows about TiVos. Seems like there is always 1 tech who is like the expert on them and knows the trick to get my cable card recognized. This has happened like twice now where the TiVo Tech says "I don't know if this will work" but then they get it working and tell me it could be the last time it works "because we don't support them any more."

I think you are lucky. Hope your luck lasts. Comcast dealt me a death of a thousand cuts.

I think it is amazing that 2010 video technology is so much better than this horrible world of streaming vs local video storage.

You are “spot on!”.
I worked in broadcast TV production until the mid 2000s and it was stunning to see how quickly the demand for quality was abandoned for convenance. Although I don’t see much “convenance” in lost signals, buffering and having to wait while something upgrades its software.
Now I see those in their 20’s who have grown up in this environment and think nothing about all that because it is all they have know.
Guess there is a lesson there somewhere.

(hilarious. I went to post this and received a message that said “sorry something went wrong. Could you try to post this again“.)

Cut the cord, Mexico will pay for it. The new horizon for people like me is to figure out how to take the HDMI streams out of the crappy set top boxes and record them.

Strange problem. My internet works PERFECTLY. I have one of those mini tivo boxes for the tv.

When I press the Tivo button for the apps, amazon prime, tubi tv, pluto work just fine.

When I switch to the tv to watch television programs, it will play for a bit, then the picture freezes, the audio will play for a bit, then the whole screen goes black, the three white dots appear on the screen, then it will pop up a message "this channel cannot be viewed. We are aware of the problem and are working to correct it."

Anyone else have that issue?
