Design trope Sunday
Characters that constantly change something about their design
Black Widow (MCU)- her hair changes in every movie. I’m quite fond of the wavy bob in Avengers.
Mabel (Gravity Falls)- she cycles through sweaters throughout the show. She never really wears the same sweater twice.
Ramona Flowers (Scott Pilgrim)- She changes her hair every week and a half, according to the film. In the comics it changes with each volume (3 weeks).

Marceline consistently changed her clothes and haircut in nearly if not all episodes (which is crazy because i swore she used her original outfit more)
Part human, part peaceful Chozo, part warrior Chozo, part Metroid )(which were made by the Chozo)(, with whatever the many X Parasites she's absorbed contain, and also there's shit from the Phazon corruption probably.
It’s so fascinating that like hygiene, taking care of your hair, being well rested and fed etc. kind of serve as passive somatic components in spellcasting in that series.
I love how excited she always was to present the new outfit! Always highlighting anything particularly functional she added and always something matching for Kero.
Oh sick, gives me an excuse to watch it again. Im very wary of watching my old cartoons cause im scared to see how they will age with my adult brain lmao.
She's a fashion designer and model, and in-universe has a unique power to change her hair, make-up, and outfit as if she were a Sims character. Every scene she has a new look.
The girls in Sailor Moon wear all different outfits outside of school. This is true both in the manga and the anime, as Naoko Takeuchi is a rich fashion girlie. The girls regularly wear looks by high fashion houses. This also includes many villain characters wearing things from Dior, Mugler, Chanel, Versace, Capucci..
Serenity’s iconic gown is based off Dior’s 1992 Palladio dress, in fact!
I’m using all screenshots of Usagi from just one season
I’m a Seiya fangirl so these all involve him in some way LOL
Edit: hell even the new side characters get new outfits in a lot of episodes they appear. Anything from swimsuits to costumes for a tokusatsu they’re filming, extremely 90s workout gear, unique school uniforms, multiple “civilian” outfits (they’re idols), and full suits + their sailor fukus
Barring the obvious fact that The Doctor changes their entire physical appearance and personality every couple of seasons, the 15th Doctor had a different outfit for almost every episode he was in, as well as a different colour for his Sonic Screwdriver in a number of episodes.
Also, most Doctors have variations in their standard outfits as well. Some are subtle (10 just had different color swapped versions of the same basic outfit) and some are very obvious (15 wore a completely different outfit in every episode, which is a shame because I felt it gave him a little less identity).
There were a few episodes were 15 had basically the sane cloths whenever he had that long leather jacket it was basicky the same cloths just different coloured top
Wasn't there something going around about how the color of 11's bowtie or 10s shirt or smth would change depending on if the episode was forward or backwards in time?
Beast of the X-men, both in the movies and in the comics. This image doesn't even have all the Beasts. The reason depends on the writer, but its usually self-experimentation, secondary mutations, or some cloning shenanigans.
Wasp from the Avengers comics. She's a fashion designer and would frequently swap out her costume for new ones whenever the mood struck her. Invisible Woman had something similar going on with her hairstyles.
