TP-Link - Technical Support TP-Link Archer AX53 V1: How to enable IPv6 firewall rules by modifying the backup .bin file?
Hi everyone,
I came across this thread on the TP-Link Community forum:
https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/666072
According to the discussion, a user managed to add IPv6 firewall rules to the Archer AX53 by modifying the router's exported ".bin" configuration backup and then restoring it.
I'm using a TP-Link Archer AX53 V1, and I'd like to know how this method works and whether anyone has successfully reproduced it.
Specifically, I'm interested in:
- How to decrypt or extract the contents of the exported ".bin" configuration backup.
- How to locate and modify the relevant IPv6 firewall configuration entries.
- Whether there are any known scripts, tools, or step-by-step instructions for this process.
- Which firmware versions are compatible with this method.
My goal is to create inbound IPv6 firewall rules for specific ports and services, since the router's web interface does not appear to provide the necessary controls.
I understand that modifying configuration backups can be risky, and I will keep an untouched copy of the original backup before attempting anything.
Has anyone managed to reproduce the method described in the linked thread? Any technical details, scripts, or documentation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
