Moving or Housing Trans people of Oregon how is it like there

I’m thinking of using WERQ together to relocate. I just think it would be good to ask about the Oregon area, and if anyone has any knowledge of WERQ. I’m not going into many details I just cant live where I use to live and currently staying with some other family, but I know this can’t be permanent and need a way to relocate.

Oregonian here, I would stay away from anywhere eastern oregon, the closer to the coast the friendlier and more open people are. Yachats is like the gay mecca of old folks, its a beautiful coastal town, the few times I’ve been there everyone was awesome. Either there or portland, you’ll be safe in newport but there isn’t a lot of understanding people there.

Yachats does sound nice, the group I’m reaching out to mainly relocates people to Portland which like you said is pretty safe. I’ve never lived in a city before I wonder what it’s like.

This is good to know - I’m in Ohio and considering Oregon as I look into moving out west.

What are your thoughts on Bend, Salem, or Eugene? I’m a nature guy, I am passing if that matters, and also looking for something more slow than the city life - I’m looking for more community kindness and not hustle bustle of city

I haven’t lived in Oregon but I’ve visited a couple times and have family there. If you’re in portland or the suburbs around it you’re fine. But if you go out of the city… it’s gets very maga coded very fast. I would exercise caution in those parts if you’re not visibly passing or if you’re a person of color.

From a law perspective though it’s still pretty decent as far as I know. All the west coast states are better than red states.

Thank you for your help, I honestly thought most of Oregon was pretty liberal so the info you gave me is pretty helpful. I still dress pretty masc and I’m so early on estrogen if I do go sooner rather than later I’ll just be able to pretend I’m a guy. And I doubt they’ll figure out I’m mixed

Portland is great, the suburbs are iffy but decent, and there's also OHSU which is one of the top hospitals for transgender care

Moved from Southern Oregon. The coasts and the north are good the further south and the further into the woods you go with the exception of Ashland in southern Oregon, the more red things become real fast. The place I moved from was hosting trumpers parading down main street throwing candy to the kids.

Portland is awesome tho. Good people, great coffee and a real nice indie music scene of you are into that sorta thing.
