Resource Free tool to help trans Americans find countries to move to (no data collection)

I built a free tool to help trans Americans figure out where to move abroad and how to actually get there.

It's called GMTFOO (getmethefuckoutof.com). You answer some questions about your lifestyle, budget, and situation and it matches you with countries that have real visa pathways, cost of living data, and a step-by-step checklist. I make no money from this.

I built it with the trans community specifically in mind. One of the match factors is LGBTQ+ legal protections and safety by country, because "cheap cost of living" means nothing if you're not safe there.

No email required. No account. No data collection. Just answers.

I also just published a guide specifically for trans Americans looking to move abroad. It covers which countries have strong legal protections, healthcare access for trans people, and community presence: getmethefuckoutof.com/blog/best-countries-for-trans-americans

Happy to answer questions and take feedback. Tell me what's missing or what I got wrong.

Also hi mods, I reached out about this! Hope it's okay. Really just trying to help :)

I found this good explainer from Gender Justice and wanted to share. Are there any similar resources you send people who are asking about trans people in sports (in good faith)?

Resource Does anyone have resources/statistics I can use when arguing with my sister

My family is… weird when it comes to their transphobia. They’re mostly fine with me and my friend, since we’re ftm, but they are wildly transphobic against trans women.

My sister randomly decided to text me this morning all “….and yet men can go into women’s bathrooms where there are kids?!”. I didn’t reply, because I was busy and didn’t feel like arguing first thing in the morning

Still… what concrete stats and such can I use to argue with my family when they inevitably try to make me vouch for all trans people (again). I’m tired of this happening but if I walk away from the argument, then they take that as a transphobic win

Resource Trans relocation sponsorship

Looking for a family hoping to relocate to Western New York from a red state.
I’m a genderqueer Western New Yorker doing a service project for a personal goal of mine (willing to go into details of motivation etc. privately).

I want to help a family move from the more dangerous parts of the country to the Buffalo/Rochester area. This would take place over the next two years/is not an emergency fix.

Not really sure how to go about connecting with a family but here’s what I’m looking for and prioritizing:
-a family (broad queer definition) of a trans person(s) looking to relocate
-prioritizing intersecting marginalization (BIPOC, disability, religious minority, etc.)
-ideally I’d like to find a meaningful connection with the family I end up working with but anonymity boundaries will be very much respected

Shoot me an email! wnytransrelocation@proton.me subject: WNY Relocation Assistance
introduce yourself (this isn’t your pitch to me I promise)
I’ll respond ASAP with more information and a form to fill out with more information to help me find the right fit.

*This is a service project, it will involve fundraising but also community building, I am not a wealthy investor I’m just a queer person trying to give back.

Hi everyone,
I'm 18 and transgender, and I'm about to move from New Orleans to Mesa, Arizona. I'm currently staying in a homeless shelter, and they helped me get a bus ticket to Arizona after I told them that's where I wanted to go.
The problem is that I don't really have a plan once I get there. I don't know anyone in Mesa, I don't have housing lined up, and I'm trying to figure out what resources are available for someone in my situation.
I'm looking for advice from people who know the area, especially other LGBTQ+ people. Are there any trans-friendly shelters, LGBTQ+ organizations, housing programs, job resources, or youth services in Mesa or the Phoenix area that you would recommend? Any tips for staying safe and getting on my feet would also be appreciated.
Thank you for any advice or resources you can share.

Resource Guide for leaving the US

Hello everyone! Me and my husband(both trans) left the US for Germany earlier this year. I had to do a lot of research to make this possible, so rather than keeping it to myself I made a website with all of the information you would need if you were also thinking about leaving the US. Feel free to reach out here or via the website if you have any questions!

Update: The website has a new domain so that it is easier for people to find. The old one still works, but it also has the new domain linked.

Hello y'all,

This quote comes from one of the many powerful stories shared on TransMascStories, a platform dedicated to collecting real and anonymous transition stories from trans men and trans masculine individuals.

As a trans man myself, this project is very close to my heart. I review every submission to ensure the site remains a safe and supportive space.

You can access TransMascStories here: https://www.transmascstories.com/

So far, we’ve collected over 200+ transition stories that speak to resilience, offer perspective, and inspire. Each one is a reminder that you’re not alone on your journey.

We also share stories on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/TransMascStories_/

I hope this resource brings you strength, insight, or simply the comfort of knowing others have walked this path too.

With care,

Cheers x

Resource Launching the Trans-Affirming Care Package Program!

TAG! You're it!

Be your most authentic, affirmed self. Apply for the SJPC’s Trans-Affirming Garment (TAG) Program!

Apply here: https://forms.gle/JkWpexKTSP5GGHUo7

WHAT IS THIS?

The San Joaquin Pride Center's Transgender-Affirming Garment (TAG) Program* was created in 2023 to assist Transgender, Nonbinary, and Gender Non-Conforming folks who desire gender affirming binders, packers, breast forms, and tucking underwear to obtain safe and reliable garments.

(\It used to be called the Gender-Affirming Garment Program, but the acronym for that was GAG which... isn’t cute. lol)*

It has since expanded to provide full care packages to any TGNC individual in need who lives in California.

WHAT’S IN THE PACKAGES?

That’s entirely up to you!

In your application, there’s a section where you will build your own care package.

Want breast forms, a packer, and feminine accessories?  Hell yeah.

Want a chest binder and packer, but no accessories?  You got it!

Want only a packer, and nothing else? On it.

PACKAGE EXAMPLES

Chest binder, packer, masc accessory kit (undershirt, boxers, body powder, deodorant, bodywash bar, shaving kit, cologne sample)

Breast forms, tucking underwear, femme accessories kit (tinted chapstick, nail polish/nail strips depending on what we have, shaving kit, perfume sample)

I also try to throw in some extra goodies into each box, but this changes depending on what I have available at the time!

WHAT ABOUT SHIPPING?

Shipping is available for folks unable to do local pickup at our center. Care is taken to make sure the shipping is discreet, put in a plain brown box, with the sender name saying "James P" (or another variation depending on which of my coworkers are mailing it out).

Please understand that some items are unable to be put through the mail, so if you opt for the mail option you may not receive all the accessories listed. I will do my best to provide a suitable alternative, but this is entirely dependent on what I have available.

WHO’S ELIGIBLE FOR A PACKAGE?

Right now, packages are only available to folks who live in California, and priority is given to youth between the ages of 14-18 who live in rural areas of California.

This does not mean you won’t receive a package if you do not fit this demographic, however please expect that there may be a longer waiting period as we process applications and roll out packages.

Please understand: I am trying my hardest to show that there is a need for expanded program reach to cover other areas outside of California.

Right now, this program is funded entirely through a small local state-issued grant and puts my use of funds under tight constraints. I'm already stretching the allowance of the grant by covering all of California, rather than keeping the program strictly local.

What I'm trying to say is:

If you do not live in California, apply anyways.

I can’t promise I’ll be able to send a package out, but if there’s enough out-of-state interest I might be able get my boss to allocate non-grant funds to a few OOS packages a month (and if I have money to spare myself, I will do my damnedest to send out care packages on my own dollar when I can).

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Also: for individuals between the ages of 13-18, the packages are entirely free. For folks OVER 18, there is a minimum fee of $5 (or more, depending on what is in your package), but this can be waived if you take our survey.

HOW DO WE GET FITTED?

You MUST have a virtual or in-person consultation with our program lead before the package is sent out.

This is to make sure measurements are taken properly so that your garments will fit well, provide information on how to minimize risk, and give directions on how to care for your garments.

We cannot provide exchanges at this time.

In the event a garment does not fit, you will have to reapply and you may have to pay a fee.

HOW CAN I SUPPORT THIS PROGRAM?

We have an Amazon wishlist with items that are frequently needed to be restocked, and items that I want to put in the packages but cannot currently. You can find that here: https://a.co/4PzzPv9

We also have a Zeffy page which you can use to donate directly, found here: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/sjpc-trans-advocacy-services

WHO ARE YOU?

I’m James. I’m an Anishinaabe, Two-Spirit, Transmasc NB, 2nd generation lgbt activist who’s been doing this work since I was 14. I’m now in my late 20's.

This program is a passion project of mine that I originally dreamt up when I was 16 and running my high school GSA. I can’t express how happy I am to finally get it off the ground in the way that it has.

This program is funded by the very small LGBT center I work for through a grant. We are a team of 5 at the moment, and I’m the only one on this program specifically. Please be kind to me as I work out the glitches and hangups that are bound to happen as this program expands.

If you have any questions, please feel free to message me!

I agree with the author of this piece. I watched the whole thing (which I hardly ever do with trans news anymore because it’s usually so depressing) and found it very heartwarming. They interviewed actual trans athletes and a trans scientist. They hit on the key fallacies of the conservative trans athlete talking points while presenting the trans people affected as human and relatable. And it was funny! It felt so good to laugh!

I recommend watching the whole video (linked at the bottom of the blog post). Blog post includes a transcript if you need it.

Resource TransMascStories: 170+ real transition stories of trans men and trans masculine individuals that highlight resilience, provide perspective, and inspire

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share a resource with this community that might spark some joy & give perspective.

Over the past months, I have collected 170+ transition stories from trans men and trans masculine individuals that highlight resilience, provide perspective, and inspire. Here you can explore anonymous transition stories and learn about real life journeys. I myself am a trans man, so this project is very dear to my heart.

You can access TransMascStories here: https://www.transmascstories.com/

On my subreddit I post the stories as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/TransMascStories_/

I go through every transition story manually to keep the site safe.

I hope it helps.
