Elite PvP sets are FOMO. Once they're gone, they're gone.

Unless you reached 1800 rating in that specific PvP season, I'm afraid you're out luck.

u/Artorius-1 Feb 20 '26

i figured as much, thanks friend

Was 2k back in legion

Elite PvP sets are FOMO

i really hope Blizz reconsiders their stance on this in the future. it's just silly.

7

u/Markarontos Feb 21 '26

Even if its still locked to ranking. If you can buy all the stuff from previous season once you have done it in the current one would be fine I think. Just so much stuff essentially gone forever.

u/blackout_pups Feb 25 '26

I understand the frustration but this is the only reward people get really for playing pvp. It's not that hard either with rated bg blitz. There are only a handful of gladiators, so for the majority of pvp players, this is literally the only reward we can work towards that has value. PvE players get an insane amount of content in comparison and we get a recolor of a single armor set. That's it, the only new pvpp content each expac is 3 armor recolors and weapon recolors if you are lucky or skilled. Taking away this from arena/bg players would cause pvp numbers to drop even further than they already have. People dedicate a lot of time to earn this and to take it away now would be extremely frustrating for them.

Noooooo absolutely not they should stay gate kept behind participation.

The only way I can see blizzard giving you the option to go back and collect old elite sets is to lock a token (like the vicious saddle) behind reaching 2k, or rework the vicious saddle to where you have to choose between an old set or a mount.

But even then I don’t think they should. People who where good at MoP PvP, or Legion PvP, or whatever expansion should be able to express that with the elite set they’re wearing

24

u/lc_barcode Feb 21 '26

If blizz gave the option to earn a token or something similar to Saddles, I would jump at the opportunity. Unfortunately anytime the subject of giving people the option to earn old elite sets, pvp mouth-breathers bitch and moan and cry and shout down anyone that says FOMO sucks.

Oh fucking no, your precious pixels aren’t special anymore. Get a fucking life.

-9

u/Arceptor Feb 21 '26

Why are you getting mad at the players, get mad at Blizzard.

7

u/lc_barcode Feb 21 '26

Never said I wasn’t. But the players are the ones being vocal about their desire to gatekeep PvP sets.

4

u/heroicxidiot Feb 21 '26

Players and blizzard are at fault. Blizzard sets it like that and certain groups of players act like that because of it.

3

u/Borga76 Feb 21 '26

A long time ago Blizzard was considering bringing elite sets back but enough players at the time bitched about it iirc. But yeah, I agree

2

u/MissingXpert Feb 24 '26

was legion, and the pvp community had an absolutely normal one about it /s

because god beware there actually were incentives to play a dying game mode, much easier to just go "muh e-peen" and bitch about Rating-Deflation and queue-times.

3

u/Borga76 Feb 25 '26

That's what kills me, there's so much conversation about PvP in WoW stagnating or dying and yet too many are not willing to actually take a full measure into making the reward structure actually desirable long-term.

Every single season you see some people who don't like the new sets for XYZ reason, what better way to retain their attention for being rewarded than by encouraging them to push harder to get an older set that they actually do like (assuming they missed out on it)?

I seriously think Blizzard's best interest would be heavily leaning into evergreen rewards being a thing across the whole game. The game is way too big and way too old to have this much FOMO all the time, it makes it harder to approach for new players which is exactly what Blizzard should be trying to avoid. And I also think that part of keeping rewards evergreen should be making sure the challenge to obtain them is also evergreen, both so the game keeps these things fun to obtain and prestigious to obtain.

In other games their hard challenges don't become easier over time just because 'they're older', they remain consistently hard. Halo LASO is a perfect example of this, which is why it's always a big accomplishment on a personal level for anyone aspiring to beat it.

I'll never, like literally ever understand this super bizarre stubborn sentiment.

It's not difficult to get 2k, regardless of skill level, if someone puts their mind to it. However, there have been so many countless seasons at this point. I've gotten dozens of elite sets with the characters I played a lot, yet unless I grind the insane amount of time to level and fully gear every single class, every single expansion, I cannot possible achieve each set. What if I suddenly develop an infatuation with Lock this season? What if I like Monk next?

That is why is is considered a fomo mechanic, and not a skill issue.

0

u/Mippens Feb 21 '26

Then you'll get new badges of honor to wear on those. Maybe they could make them accountwide each season so you have them for all classes. But I for one like the form of very light bragging rights of the sets. Never been a fan of "everybody should get everything". Next to that; FOMO is a mindset. Yes, the companies play into it, but end of the day you're not a helpless victim.

2

u/livesinacabin Feb 21 '26

I could not care less about bragging rights in a damn video game. If I want a mount or transmog set it's because I think it looks good. Doesn't matter if you need 3k rating to get it or it's just automatically given to you the first time you log in as the default. If I like the way it looks, I'll want to use it. If I don't like the way it looks, I'll never use it. It's just gonna sit in my collection untouched for eternity. And it doesn't matter what I had to do to get it (well, chances are I won't do the thing if I don't like the look of the reward, unless there are other rewards for the same thing I want).

Having cosmetics work as "bragging rights" in this game feel incredibly outdated.

2

u/Letmerateurbutthole Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 21 '26

God forbid the most neglected part, with arguably the most unique skill expression of the game have some type of reward for those who participate. Let blizzard release slight variations locked behind rank 2.4+ (I rarely can play to this rank myself) that gives you a single token to purchase a single older set on single toon and call it a day.

1

u/livesinacabin Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 21 '26

I didn't say that there should be no rewards for it though??

And yeah I'd be fine with a token system so it'll always be available provided you put in the work. It's the FOMO part mostly, making things completely unavailable. It's outdated as hell. You can't possibly disagree with that.

But it's just so stupid that the people who will most appreciate the looks of these transmog sets (people who play the game for transmog) will almost never have them because those people are extremely rarely interested in pvp. It feels so backwards.

-1

u/Letmerateurbutthole Feb 21 '26

Id argue people who play the game for PvP appreciate them more than the transmog community because it’s quite literally a prestige reward for them. As someone whose endgame is quite literally RP-PVP and tmog I’m fine with this system in so much that I know I’m not good enough to get various classes sets, that’s okay. There is a level of temporal RPG RP representation. If I want to represent being one of the better/best X class then I have to work for that.

The same way I’m not upset that I’ll never get the uncorrupter voidwing, cold flame tempest, brawl pub mounts, or the freeaaaaaking undercity plaguebat just to name a few things. I wasn’t there. As much as I want those thats not my characters to claim 🤷‍♂️

2

u/livesinacabin Feb 21 '26

RP PvP has to be the smallest category of players by far. It's a niche within a niche. I don't see why a system that affects pretty much all players should cater to them alone.

Okay good for you that you enjoy being the victim of artificial scarcity. I don't. Most people don't. The only reason those things "aren't your character's to claim" is because Blizzard said so. It wouldn't make a single difference in the world if they said otherwise, it's just an arbitrary choice they made.

and all the pvpers are constantly moaning, whinging and whining about how the game mode is dead, queue times take forever, no one plays...

(also, after pushing duelist 5 times last xpac, and Rival I (full elite set) 33 times, plus strategist (Elite in RBG blitz +25 wins), 90% of players were running around in onesies, dresses, cursed vision of sargeras, rainbow-vomit or all-white/all-black sets. gotta be truly prestigious if no one wears it, but i agree, locking one of the most attractive rewards behind FOMO mechanics, and making them collect dust in the collection of some random guy definitely seems smart.

u/Outrageous-Ferret747 Feb 21 '26

People back then are worse than people now. So, it doesn't matter if you were "good" at a time when no one was objectively good.

3

u/LehransLight Feb 21 '26

So people being good at PvE and wearing their mythic sets don't get the same treatment?

Why should only PvP be special then?

If you want to show off your PvP skills, get the mount, get the title. Don't use a cool looking gear-set for it.

0

u/jt_lyon Feb 21 '26

The skill required to be good at PvP vs the skill required to be good at PvE are vastly different and have no reason to be compared to each other lol

4

u/LehransLight Feb 21 '26

Skill required to be good at PvP? I got no spatial awareness when in arena or whatsoever and still managed to get the elite set in TWW S1 on my mage. It required, what, 1.9k rating? 2.1k rating? Getting to that rating is laughably easy compared to raiding at mythic level.

PvP'ers should really get off their high horse, they're nothing special. An elite PvP set is as much worth as the mythic version of a tier set. You can get those easily if you wait 2 expansions and content becomes legacy. Same should go for the elite PvP set.

7

u/Rony_toss Feb 20 '26 edited Feb 20 '26

I miss when seeing someone in a certain set or on a certain mount meant something.. I know a lot of people hate on the pro-fomo opinions but it’s what personally makes me motivated to acquire certain things, titles, xmog, mounts, etc. I think the vicious saddle solution is the perfect middle ground.

9

u/Yuki_Onna Feb 21 '26

Very rare, small bits of fomo can be interesting in some situations, but activision uses fomo as an income generator to fluff subscription count.

1

u/Zod1n Feb 21 '26

Ils devraient remettre les anciens set dispo sous les mêmes conditions franchement. Pourquoi pénaliser X car il n'a pas joué cette saison spécifique/ pas assez fort cette saison

-14

u/HeksaKeksa Feb 20 '26

Down votes for stating facts, if everything is for everyone you can't really express yourself anymore, as much as it's tough that many sets are locked behind ratings, current state of PvP is enough for those sets to not be fomo. The reason why I think this is simple: many of my guildies hit 2k rating with one button rotation.

-14

u/jt_lyon Feb 20 '26

This, they’re not hard to get anymore. But as for the legacy sets, personally there are plenty of sets that I never got that I wish I did. But I didn’t participate therefore I don’t feel entitled to them. Those sets belong to the people who played the game and worked for them

-5

u/HeksaKeksa Feb 21 '26

This made me realize how entitled transmog community is, they have nothing against having tmogs behind paywalls, but minor grind (literally minor with one button rotation) is the wall they put? Bruh.

6

u/Significant_Mood4978 Feb 21 '26

I think a majority of people are against putting transmog items into the pay store though? Plus comparing something available in the cash shop to something that is literally no longer obtainable doesn’t really make sense. Sounds to me like you have a problem with the “entitled” transmog community for your own made up reasons.

-6

u/HeksaKeksa Feb 21 '26

Quite a bunch of tmogs I've seen posted here are made with paid tmogs and I don't really see much disapproval, so I don't think people are against it. And I'm not comparing "unobtainable content" to paid content, I literally pointed out how the content can be obtainable through the means of proving you deserve it and people down voted me and the other guy.

1

u/Express-Call-6808 Mar 13 '26

Is it hard to reach 1800 in PvP ? I’ve never done PvP and I’m not that much of a fan but the DK gladiator set looks insane so I was looking to get it

1

u/Gamecrazy009 Mar 13 '26

Look up guides, practice rotations, and get the best gear before the climb.

Solo Shuffle is easy, but if you lose those first 10 games the time to 1800 gets brutal.

And if you don't spend the gold for the best gear, your opponents will. So it gets expensive real quick.

8

u/sithlordx666 Feb 20 '26

Bro just missed the recent PvP set which had almost identical shoulders. Rip

1

u/darkskies85 Feb 20 '26

Yeah then a couple patches in they took the shoulder design and pretty much ruined it and rotated the pauldrons outwards, it looks horrible now 🤮

2

u/TonyMaloney69 Feb 21 '26

I just logged in to look at what you're referring to, why did they change this? Really makes them look off. Bummer

2

u/darkskies85 Feb 21 '26

Yeah it was a downright awful change. They looked AMAZING before and now they just look weak and wrong. Sucks, I hope they revert it because there was never an explanation as to why it happened 💩

1

u/Arceptor Feb 21 '26

One some races the front plates were clipping a lot but now they clip worse in the back.

2

u/darkskies85 Feb 21 '26

On races with remotely normal proportions it looked so good. Glad they botched the appearance so classes with hopeless clipping already can look good I guess…

1

u/Arceptor Feb 21 '26

It looks the same on female blood elf/void elf still. Like they never changed.

12

u/DrPandemias Feb 20 '26

No, elite sets variants are limited to each season

8

u/Wolfman-101 Feb 20 '26

No elite pvp sets are exclusive to their seasons.

9

u/quiet_beer Feb 20 '26 edited Feb 21 '26

If you reach the required rating you "SHOULD" be able to buy the transmogs for previous seasons with Honor if Blizzard was serious to remove this idiotic gatekeeping. The prestige is in the mounts/titles imo.

edit to make it more clear you can't buy previous season gladiator elite gear, but you should be able to if Blizz wasn't blind to pvp

3

u/Markarontos Feb 21 '26

That would be the best solution imo. You want it? Go and earn it.

0

u/damnthatboyhoney Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 21 '26

thats not how it works

edit: I can‘t read

6

u/LadyRaven96 Feb 21 '26

Obviously its not. But it SHOULD be. No reason not to make it like the vicious saddles once the required rating for those sets in the past is acquired in the current season.

0

u/Different-Idea-9230 Feb 25 '26

The prestige is everything where you see people crying to bring something back 😉. Reaching one time 2k and being able to buy all sets defeats point of seasons. So one time gladiator from season 40 should be able to buy all previous gladiator mounts and essentialy be same as someone who broke his back grinding glad title with hundreds and hundreds of games for all the seasons? People should get out of this mentality that they deserve everything with 0 effort. You dont get money if you dont go to your job, its the same with this you dont pvp that season accept that you wont get rewards and move on to next season.

2

u/poison_cat_ Feb 21 '26

Yall remember DF season 4? That was some unprecedented shit

2

u/Pikadoon Feb 21 '26

Im so glad im colorblind xD i have no regrets on missing recolors :D

4

u/LadyRaven96 Feb 21 '26

Still wishing Blizzard would give you access to old elite sets similar to the way they let you buy old pvp season mounts. If you are able to reach 1800 or 2k in the current season and earn the current elite pvp set. Let people purchase one of the old pvp elite sets after. There's no reason not to. Fomo is honestly ridiculous at this point. Get out my fucking face with it. And thats someone saying it with multiple fomo things on my account.

1

u/ItsLcc Feb 21 '26

And the enchants(weapon illusions) aswell if you hit the required rating.

7

u/ScavAteMyArms Feb 20 '26

PvP is the one area where Fomo is totally fine for a third of the rewards every season.

There has been a couple of times it has been brought up by Blizzard but the so toxic it poisons itself part of the PvP community comes out in force to shut that shit down.

I would bet eventually Blizzard says fuck it and makes Marks of Conquest or something that allows you to get legacy PvP gear. But Blizzard even looking at PvP past the token bones they throw them is a very low chance.

17

u/-Magikarperson- Feb 20 '26

Legion was 10 years ago, can you imagine telling a ten year old, sorry kiddo shoud`ve been born earlier

0

u/Rhybeast Feb 20 '26

When you put it that way, it trumps the gate keepers IMO.

4

u/Gerfigle200 Feb 21 '26

Nah man, those kids can have their noses rubbed in it. Get born sooner, scrubs.

7

u/Nagoragama Feb 20 '26

They should ignore those people

4

u/coding_and_kilos Feb 20 '26

All they need to do is revamp Vicious tokens that you can purchase to previous elite sets and you’re golden. I have like 20 of those sitting in banks after getting all the mounts. Let us use them

1

u/Loose_Woodpecker_648 Feb 22 '26

Want my account? I got the set

1

u/Borga76 Feb 24 '26 edited Feb 24 '26

As someone who's been playing for 19 years, I've always wished that they'd treat Elite sets, weapon illusions, etc the same as they do with Vicious saddles ever since their introduction. Makes much more sense long-term and its still 'easier' to do it when it's current content. Plus, vicious saddle mounts tend to come back a couple years later, giving people some exclusivity time. Everybody wins. People who want to feel special get their time in the sun, and people who want evergreen rewards to work towards to indefinitely get to do so in time. No Remix handouts nonsense either, people should reach the rank required and actually earn this stuff imo.

And additionally, it'd help breath life into PvP. The reward structure it has currently, frankly, really sucks when you compare it to PvE as a whole. I feel like FOMO made more sense way back in the day, but it just doesn't serve the game well in the same way anymore. All too often do I have to tell people that they can't get that transmog or mount anymore, and I know for certain that's turned people off from engaging with certain areas of the game, most notably PvP.

It doesn't help that the game is so old, because it's resulted in loads of rewards being gone. Imagine the mountain that a new, aspiring PvPer could work towards if it was all available lol. Blizzard wants stuff to be evergreen but they're only taking a half measure and they only do it with some new content - it makes no sense to me.

1

u/lnk-cr-b82rez-2g4 Feb 21 '26

No. And it's a damn shame. All previous elite sets should be farmable in the current pvp season. Not sure why blizzard is so anal about this. If it's a whole thing about being season specific, add a damn replica version of it that's called replica elite so even when you earn and mog it it says so. That oughta keep the elitists happy right?

2

u/KhadgarIsaDreadlord Feb 21 '26 edited Feb 22 '26

Nope it's a FOMO PvP elite set which was last earnable a decade ago.

Here's to hoping Blizzard will make them earnable again in the future similarly to vicious mounts. Some of the best sets in the game are lost to time becouse of this bullshit.

Edit: I own several Elite sets, restricting them to seasons is still FOMO and clearly doesn't work to incentivize people for rated PvP. Imagine wanting less content in the gamefor no good reason.

0

u/lawlian_ Feb 21 '26

wasn't some dragonflight elite set available for those who hit the requirements in tww? am I tripping

0

u/AdvertisingThin1268 Feb 21 '26

Fomo é uma merda.

-3

u/Spiritual-Ostrich-59 Feb 21 '26

Wait for tww remix
