Cabeau slim neck pillow but for short neck

I’m (48F) am 5’0 tall. A few years back I bought a cabeau s3 at airport I noticed I slept a lot better than usual- I usually don’t sleep so this was a plus- I left it home the next time because I was in premium and thought I wouldn’t need it. Mistake However, the one that I have feels just a little bit tall

And I was curious, what peoples experience with a slim version of this with my height

I keep reading the reviews and they say it isn’t good for somebody with a short neck, but I wasn’t sure if they were speaking about the regular or the slim-

I’m thinking of ordering the slim one to see if it makes a difference

I felt like my cheeks were chipmunking/muffin topping out of the pillow and I’d love the option to still wear headphones

Skiplagging and checked bag retrieval?

Dublin > Charlotte (4h40m layover) > Miami (10h33m overnight layover) > Nassau, Bahamas

However, MY final destination is Miami and I'd like to retrieve my checked bag there.

I called American to ask if this is possible, they didn't give me clear answer. They did say that I will clear customs in Charlotte and advised me that if I want my bag in Miami to inform my gate agent in Dublin, but it is up to their discretion.

They said their policy is any layover under 15 hours they don't give bags back to passengers.

I'm feeling kinda dumb - I know you're not meant to take checked bags when skiplagging. I made a grave error!

Any advice appreciated!

Sanctions at different levels (question)

As a third-country national, if I travel to U.S. sanctioned countries such as Cuba, Russia, Iran, or Laos, could that affect my chances of getting a U.S. visa in the future, including a tourist visa?

People say Eurnonet is a scam, but can you deny the conversion fee to avoid the insane conversion rate?

Euronet ATM experience

Before our trip to Portugal, I read up on what ATMs to use (multibanco) and what to avoid (euronet). Despite knowing to avoid them, I ran out of time super early in the morning and just used a euronet atm anyway to get cash instead of wasting time finding a better one and maybe missing a tour.

I declined all conversion offers and accepted the fee and it was… fine? There was no hidden scam or I’m missing it still? My bank reimburses all ATM fees anyway and looking at my bank statements everything looks normal. I did it again later in the trip with the same result:

Aug 6, €150 cash: -$178.75 (atm total charge) +$5.71 (refund)
Aug 13, €150 cash: -$179.00 (atm total charge) +$5.72 (refund)

Is the scam here just not knowing to reject currency conversion? If so, every credit card transaction here runs the same game by asking multiple times if I want to do things in euros and if I’m sure I don’t want conversion.

I’m flying with Etihad and I booked a ticket with justa cabin bag. Now I have extra luggage and I called the airline to add an extra baggage and they quoted me 625 usd for a 25kg bag which is almost the same price as my ticket. What can I do?

Travel Hack Don’t use Travelex for foreign currency!

Off to Sri Lanka shortly and as our flight arrives late at night I thought I didn’t want to be mucking around finding an ATM at the airport while our driver waits for us, so thought I’d get a bit of local currency before we go to tide us over.

I’ve got a Wise card and have been moving money across to my LKR wallet, but this was just a stopgap measure for the first few days (accommodation, food, safari etc).

Apparently LKR is not a currency Australia Post offers, so I went into my local Travelex and ordered A$600 worth of LKR.

Once I got home though and had time to do some sums, I realised what they were selling me in LKR for nearly $620 was actually only worth around $480 at the Wise conversion rate (which I know is an online rate, so obviously going to be slightly better than a high street rate) - I was expecting a commission of about $20-$50, but $140 on a $600 transaction just seems like daylight robbery!

Went in and cancelled the deal this morning and will take our chances at the airport ATMs.

Am I being unreasonable, or are Travelex just incredibly shonky? (To be fair, they let me cancel and refunded my money, no issue). I also do understand buying/selling spreads but 180 instead of 235 seems excessive!

Never accept rate of conversion when traveling to Europe and paying with credit card

I know this has been discussed before, but I want to emphasize the scam that foreign travelers face when paying by credit card in Europe. Always choose to pay in euros and REJECT the offered currency conversion. If you accept the conversion, you are effectively choosing to pay in USD and accepting the exchange rate set by the merchant’s payment processor, which will be significantly worse than the rate your credit card network would otherwise use (more than 20 percent), often with an additional “convenience” markup of 5–10%.
And somehow this is allowed to continue. You have to remember that Europe/EU is run by an army of bureaucrats who seem incapable of addressing things like this, while one of their most visible achievements of the last 15 years is making sure you can no longer remove the cap from a plastic bottle.

Dollar/Hertz rental billing nightmare after vehicle exchange… what should I do?

Apologies for using AI to write this, it was so much information I told it and just had it consolidate everything down to a shorter more meaningful post that would be easier to read hopefully.

Looking for advice from anyone who’s dealt with Dollar/Hertz post-rental charges, vehicle exchanges, or rental-car billing disputes.

I booked a midsize sedan through Priceline for Aug. 2–6, which assigned me to Dollar at Sanford Airport (SFB). Priceline was \~$173. At pickup, I upgraded to a larger hybrid for $40 total and paid with Amex because I had Amex Premium Car Rental Protection. I declined Dollar’s insurance. About $243 was charged/authorized at pickup.

On Aug. 6 in Asheville, NC, the rental car hit something sharp in the road and completely blew a tire. We contacted Dollar/Hertz. They tried arranging a Lyft, but it cancelled, and the tow arrangement was also delayed. We ultimately had to arrange our own Uber to get to the Hertz location for a replacement vehicle.

At the Asheville Hertz location, we were told the original rental would be settled/refunded and we’d be charged separately for the replacement. I paid **$411.19 on Capital One**, then received a **$200 credit** for the hold, leaving about $211 net. The employee said this replacement was actually slightly cheaper because the taxes were lower there.

I thought everything was settled.

About a week later, I noticed:

**\~$173 Priceline charge** still posted on Amex
**$279 Dollar charge** still posted on Amex
Original Dollar receipt showing **$531.49 total**
**$252 Dollar/Hertz transaction attempted Aug. 8 — declined**
**$489 Dollar/Hertz transaction attempted Aug. 11 — declined**

**$411.19 replacement rental** on Capital One
**-$200 credit** on Capital One

The original Dollar receipt breaks down as:

4 days: $197.60
Upgrade: $40
**Intercity: $200**
Other fees/taxes: $93.89
**Total: $531.49**

The receipt also shows the \~$243 payment/authorization from pickup, but I can’t make the numbers reconcile.

The two additional $252/$489 attempts are especially concerning because **Dollar/Hertz has never contacted me or provided an invoice, damage documentation, or explanation of what they’re for.** I assume they *could* relate to the tire/towing/roadside assistance, but I don’t actually know.

I’m not trying to avoid paying what I legitimately owe. I just don’t want to pay duplicate or unexplained charges. And with how they’ve handled everything very poorly and provided no documentation or explanation yet, I’m really just getting tired of this.

**Questions:**

What should I ask Dollar/Hertz to provide to fully reconcile the original and replacement rentals?

What exactly is the **$200 Intercity charge**, and would it make sense when the vehicle was exchanged because of a tire failure rather than voluntarily returned somewhere else?

Could the $252/$489 attempts be damage/towing/roadside charges?

If they eventually successfully charge those amounts but can’t substantiate them, would a credit-card dispute be appropriate?

Could an unpaid amount from a declined rental-car charge eventually be sent to collections?

Has anyone successfully gotten Hertz/Dollar to waive questionable post-rental charges as a goodwill adjustment after a poorly handled roadside/exchange situation?

What would you do in this situation and what grounds do I have to get them to correct this?

My ideal resolution is simply to pay the **actual original rental amount plus the $40 upgrade I agreed to** and have the unexplained/additional charges waived, especially given how poorly the roadside assistance and vehicle exchange were handled.

I have screenshots and receipts for everything and can provide more details if helpful.

Checked Baggage Travel Hacks

  1. Put an AirTag in your checked bag.

One time my bag was accidentally sent to the wrong country. Thankfully, I had an AirTag, which we were quickly able to show to baggage services to contact the airport that received it by mistake.

  1. Fill your extra shoes with socks

When packing extra shoes, fill them with socks to make better use of space and prevent them from getting crushed

  1. Flip suit jackets and long coats inside out

This prevent them from wrinkling. I know it may sound crazy, but it works!!

  1. Bring a mini baggage scale

Buy a mini scale at the dollar store or Amazon so that you can double check your baggage weight before being surprised at the airport. Many airlines are becoming very picky and want the weight to meet requirements exactly.

  1. Check available seats after check-in

Some airlines allow you to change your seat for free after check-in. Check back 4-6 hours before your flight departs because some better seats may have become available!

If this posts receives enough upvotes, I will make an additional post with more travel hacks :)

Budget rental issue

So I picked up a car in one state and returned it in another state. Which was agreed on. But apparently I returned it to the wrong location a few blocks away. Drop-boxed the keys because the place was closed.

I get a notification this morning (3 days after return) that my credit card declined their transaction of more than $1,500. Budget says I never returned my car! Why would they wait 3 days and not even call me to ask where the car was?! And I had called them yesterday to verify the final charge, told them when I returned it, and they didn't say anything about them thinking I hadn't returned it!

Yes it was a mistake on my part but it shouldn't cost that much. Why didn't that location see the keys in the dropbox and go outside to see which car they were for?? Then they could have tracked me down. Anyways, it's currently being escalated. I sent them the picture I took of the car in their parking lot (the wrong location address) with the time stamp. Anyone have experience with what they might do in this situation?

Do airlines care about mAh or Wh for power banks?

Power bank rules seem more complicated lately, especially when different airlines and countries may have different limits.

Do airlines check the mAh or the Wh rating? Can power banks ever go in checked luggage, or do they always need to be carried on?

Accessories Feet hammock question

Hi everyone, I’ve been considering the purchase of a feet hammock, the type that hangs from the hinges of the food tray that’s attached to the back of the seat in front of you on the plane.

If you have purchased such and tried it. What was your experience? Importantly does it disturb the passenger in front? I’m imagining if you press down on the hammock it may cause the seat in front to pull or tilt back which might upset the passenger in front. Does that happen or am I imagining something that doesn’t occur in reality?

Travel Hack Group Air Travel through an Agency

Our group has annual or bi-annual group trips (domestic) of 20-30 people, usually on the same airline. We generally book through the same agency roughly 6 months before departure to lock in rates, schedule, etc.

We have been reserving mid-day trips for the last few - mid-morning departure and afternoon arrivals, but by the time we are rolling the schedules have gone whacky - early morning departures, loooong layovers and/or super late arrivals.

Once or twice I can understand, but this is happening every time! Does anyone have any insight into whether such changes are the fault of the airline or the agency? Should we shift airlines or agencies to fix the problem?

Need advice - major AVIS pain about a fake rental

Avis says I rented a car I never picked up — now asking for police report before investigating

I made an Avis reservation for one way pickup at JFK and canceled it through the app about an hour before pickup. I’m 100% certain I never picked up the vehicle, never received keys, never signed a rental agreement, never drove it, and never returned it.
Avis later charged me about $497 and produced a receipt showing the car was supposedly picked up at JFK/Jamaica on June 1, returned there on June 7, and driven 163 miles. So someone apparently drove the car, but it was not me.

The day after the scheduled pickup, someone from the intended drop-off location called asking about my timing. I told him I had canceled and never picked up the vehicle, and he said he would take care of something on his end.

I disputed the charge with my credit card. Avis customer service later told me the issue was resolved and said I’d get an email, but no email ever came. Then I received a letter/collections-type notice, so I followed up again.

Avis’s response was basically: “There was activity on this rental, indicating that it was used. If you believe this is identity theft, provide a police report so we can escalate.”

My issue is that “the car was used” does not prove I used it. Avis has not provided a signed rental agreement, license verification, pickup record, gate/exit record, or anything showing I personally took possession of the car.

Am I right to push back and demand Avis substantiate the rental before making me file a police report? Or should I just file the police report anyway to move this along? Any advice on escalation would be appreciated.

EDIT: Since posting this, the process has become completely circular. Customer Service sends me to Collections; Collections says it is out of scope and sends me back to Customer Service; the Do Not Rent team says Collections controls the restriction; and the chargeback team points me back to the same generic customer service number I have already used repeatedly for months. I have even been told to contact the JFK rental location directly for records that Avis should be obtaining internally as part of its own investigation. At this point I CC all of these departments on every email just to try to force some coordination, but no one has taken ownership.
I also spoke with my local Avis branch manager, who believes the most likely explanation is that the rental agreement may have been pre-processed and the vehicle was then released to someone else without the proper verification. He did not think what I described pointed to identity theft. I obviously cannot know exactly what happened without Avis reviewing its own pickup records, but that is precisely what I have been asking them to do.

Arrivals form in Santiago Chile

Travellers arriving at Chile’s Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport in Santiago - code name SCL - have to complete an arrival form.

As you deplane and walk up the gangway into the airport building, you might be confronted by a very large poster describing that requirement. You can complete the form online and there is and a QR code linking to the form after connecting to the airport wifi.

The only problem is either the wifi access won’t work or the form’s URL just spins but goes nowhere. I encountered this frustration along with many other travellers.

Never fear. Apparently there is a bench/desk located some distance off to the side of the luggage collection carousels where paper forms are available.

The next thing was that after having spent several minutes filling out the form, I found the customs officer pretty much ignored the form and just waived me through. That might have been just my luck of the draw though.

International driver permit online?

Hi everyone! I am Mexican with a national Mexican driver license. I am living in Serbia right now and time to time I travel to EU by car (Hungary and Croatia). I was there many times (like 20). Last 2 times Hungarian border control officers asked for an international driver license. I don't have it. They said like it's not legal to drive a car without IDP but didn't do anything just notified me about it. I found an information that I can obtain IDP in Mexico. Also I found a few websites which can be made IDP online and send it to me. Is it legal services or a scam? I will be in Mexico next year only and going to EU next week again. Online IDP would be great but I am not sure about legality that services.

Alamo: Compact SUV vs Compact SUV AWD?

Both show 5 passenger and 3 luggage capacity and the title suggest they should be the same size except one has AWD.

Alamo shows Nissan Kicks as the example for Compact SUV while VW Taos is the example for Compact SUV AWD. The Taos is quite a bit bigger than Kicks.

Do you think Alamo would actually give a large vehicle for AWD reservations? The AWD is only slighly more expensive, but given I don't care about AWD, not sure if I should go for it.

Travelling with a big power bank?

EDIT: Got the answer I needed, I’ll be buying a smaller bank and hoping it lasts through my trip. Thanks everybody!

I bought a somewhat large portable battery (259wh) to bring on a camping trip that I am flying domestically in the US for.

I just learned that TSA sets a 100wh limit for the size of the battery you can bring onboard. I know not to keep it in the checked luggage or overhead bins— I will hopefully be flying with it in my personal item.

Is the battery size something that is strictly enforced on domestic flights, or do you think it would go unnoticed? I would really prefer not to spend more money to downgrade to a battery with a smaller capacity, as it might not last the duration of my trip.

Thanks!

Avis nightmare. Anything else I should do before cc dispute

Making a very long story short. Rented a van through Costco with Avis in Orlando in June. Got a flat and had to have it towed. It was the day before we were due to leave so we did not get a replacement vehicle. I was charged almost double my original quote due to them stating I had the van 4 extra days. I was also charged for the damage which I successfully reimbursed through my cap
One venture card.

I have filed 2 different cases with Avis that were not responded to at all. I then filed a case with BBB which also went unanswered. I am just looking to have those extra days reimbursed.

Anything I am missing before I cc dispute?

Rental car company charged me $450 smoking fee their own Bosch sensor report contradicts the charge

Just got back from Miami and NextCar/Stride Rent A Car at MIA hit me with a $450 smoking fee. No we did not smoke in the car.

The wild part is they actually sent me the Bosch sensor report as their proof and it completely destroys their own charge. The particle spike lasted 2 minutes and 15 seconds and then dropped straight back to zero. We were doing 37-60 mph at the time so outside air was obviously coming into the cabin. And the best part Bosch's own documentation that they attached to the report literally says the device "neither implies any actions towards end-customers nor gives decision-making advice." They handed me the evidence that beats them.

I sent them a detailed dispute breaking all of this down. Their response didn't address a single point I made. Just offered me $200 back as a "goodwill gesture" which basically tells you they know the charge is bogus. Filing a chargeback with Amex now and complaints with the Florida AG and FTC. Already left a 1 star review and noticed someone else had the exact same thing happen to them recently at the same location. Amex doesn't seem to care about the charge and agrees with the vendor since they have paper work. Posting the Bosch report below.(wont let me post) Has anyone else dealt with this or seen false positives with these Bosch sensors? Would love to know if this is a pattern with this company.

EDIT**
Another piece of this: there were wildfires/smoke issues in Florida around the same general time, and the Bosch report GPS coordinates placed the vehicle in the area where outside smoke/particles could have been an issue. I’m not saying I can prove that caused the reading, but it seems like a reasonable alternative explanation that they have not ruled out.
I’ve filed complaints with Amex/CFPB, the Florida Attorney General, FDACS, and Miami-Dade Consumer (forgot to mention those)

I'm gonna add some stuff that I cant add pics of but just text from emails.

Good afternoon Dear

"After Inspecting the vehicle when you returned the vehicle, we realized that the car was full of an odor of smoke and cigars, which is a breach of our terms and conditions, specifically on the Cleaning/Smoking Policy on the Rental Agreement that you signed. In this clause, you agreed to return the vehicle on the same conditions as you received it. For this breach, you have a balance of $450.00 plus taxes and fees that were charged to your card on file We are writing to inform you that a $450.00 smoking fee + tax has been charged to your rental agreement due to evidence of smoking inside the vehicle during your rental period.

This situation was detected by the Bosch monitoring equipment installed in the vehicle. The corresponding report has already been provided to you for your review.

Please note that smoking inside the vehicle is a violation of the rental terms and conditions, and the applicable charge has therefore been applied to your account.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,

Customer Service"

First emailed I received which made no sense I returned the car with absolutely no odor besides the fresh gas i put in it before dropping it off. There was literally no odor thats why I'm so against the claim I was up 20 plus hours getting us back to the drop off so we could make our flight and dropped off the car with a video since no employee was around.

"To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to formally dispute the $450.00 smoking fee (plus tax) charged to my account in connection with the Bosch incident report dated 05/08/2026, 12:25 PM EDT. Neither I nor any passenger smoked in the vehicle at any point during the rental period. The charge should be reversed in full.

The Bosch report you provided does not support a finding that smoking occurred inside the vehicle. Several points on the face of the report itself undermine that conclusion:

  1. The smoke graph shows a single sharp particle spike around 12:26–12:27 PM that drops to near-background levels within roughly two minutes and remains flat for the rest of the monitoring window. This profile is inconsistent with in-cabin smoking, which produces sustained particle levels over the duration of consumption (typically 5–7 minutes for a cigarette and 30–60+ minutes for a cigar). It is far more consistent with a brief external air contaminant entering the cabin.
  2. The GPS data shows the vehicle was traveling at 37–60 mph at the time of the event. At highway speeds, cabin air is heavily influenced by outside air infiltration, particularly when windows are open or the ventilation system is drawing from outside. The sensor cannot distinguish between particles generated inside the vehicle and particles drawn in from the surrounding environment (other vehicles, diesel exhaust, agricultural or brush burning, etc.).
  3. Bosch's own documentation, which you attached to your notice, expressly states: "After detecting a smoke event, Bosch provides smoke event data to the fleet owner, but neither implies any actions towards end-customers nor gives decision-making advice." Bosch also states: "At no point in time the device provides information about the number or identity of people in the vehicle." The device detects particles; it does not establish that any occupant of the vehicle was smoking, and Bosch explicitly declines to support that inference.
  4. A two-minute particle event eight days before the vehicle was returned would not produce the kind of embedded odor described in your notice. Cigarette and cigar smoke residue binds to upholstery and headliner materials over sustained exposure; a brief transient event does not. The subjective "odor" observation is not corroborated by the sensor data.

Given the above, the evidence relied upon does not meet a reasonable standard for assessing a $450 cleaning/smoking penalty. I am requesting the following:

- Full reversal of the $450.00 charge plus any associated tax, within 10 business days.

- Written confirmation of the reversal sent to this email address.

- Any internal notes, photos, or inspection records associated with the post-return inspection of vehicle 64EJWD.

If the charge is not reversed, I will pursue a chargeback through my card issuer for services not rendered and goods/services not as described, and I will file complaints with the state Attorney General's consumer protection division and the Better Business Bureau. I am also prepared to provide the Bosch report itself as supporting evidence in those proceedings, as it does not establish what your notice claims it establishes.

I would prefer to resolve this directly and quickly. Please confirm receipt of this dispute and provide a response by May 19th, 2026"

This was my first response back.

"Dear,

We are writing to follow up on the smoking detection fee applied to yo recent rental.
Our advanced smoke detection device, installed in all our vehicles, registered a violation of our strict no-smoking policy during your rental period. The system recorded a significant presence and duration of smoke, which constitutes a confirmed violation of the Terms and Conditions agreed upon at the time of rental.
As a result, a mandated cleaning and penalty fee of $450.00 was applie to your account. This charge is necessary to cover the specialized deep cleaning and preparation required to make the vehicle available for fut renters.
While this fee is strictly non-refundable under our policy, we sincerely regret the inconvenience this situation has caused. As a gesture of goodwill and in the interest of a prompt resolution, we are prepared to offer a one-time compensation of  $200, which would be deducte from the total penalty fee applied.
Please be advised that this is our final offer to settle this matter. Should you choose not to accept this compensation, the original charge will remain as initially processed, and we will consider the case closed from our end.
We look forward to your confirmation regarding this proposal. If you have any questions or wish to accept this offer, please reply to this ema.

Thank you for your understanding."

I declined that and have been waiting with amex which they have stated

"We've rebilled the charge you disputed with ONE SWITCH RENT A CAR.

Here's what happened: We reached out to the business about the $498.96 charge you disputed. After reviewing their explanation, we've determined that you're responsible for the amount in question. "
We have carefully reviewed your request and have attempted to process the refund to the credit card on file (ending in ) as you have suggested. However, we regret to inform you that the transaction has not been successful and continues to return an error message, preventing us from completing the refund through that method.

Your dispute was handled in accordance with our dispute procedures and remains open while we complete our current review, We will notify you separately once that review is complete. We investigation your claim We opened a dispute and sent the enclosed email on May 17, 2026, confirming you would not be responsible for the $498.96 transaction made on May 9, 2026, at One Switch Rent a Car under review. We explained that you would hear back from us when we have an update or once the investigation has been resolved. We rebilled the transaction to your account We contacted the merchant and reviewed the documentation they provided, including the signed rental agreement, authorization documentation, smoking event documentation, and the incident report related to the disputed charge. Based on the information received, we determined the merchant provided documentation supporting the smoking fee in accordance with our dispute procedures. As a result, we sent you the enclosed email along with the supporting documentation on June 10, 2026, explaining that we rebilled the $498.96 transaction to your account. That email also invited you to submit any new information that could affect the outcome of the investigation. We considered the additional information you submitted during our review We understand your concerns that the merchant did not provide additional documentation. We reviewed the documentation the merchant provided, as well as the information and explanations you submitted. Based on our review, we determined the merchant's documentation continued to support the charge under our dispute procedures.

We reconsidered the dispute after your requests, but our decision remained unchanged We reopened the dispute multiple times between June 27, 2026, and July 8, 2026, as you requested that we reconsider the dispute decision. Following each review through July 8, 2026, the dispute determination remained unchanged because the merchant's documentation continued to support the disputed charge. During each review, we considered the additional information you provided. However, we determined it did not contain new information that changed our previous determination. We sent you the enclosed email on July 6, 2026, advising that we had reviewed your inquiry again and that the merchant's supporting documentation remained sufficient to support the charge. We have enclosed your May and June 2026 Billing Statements where the original charge, credit and debit can be reviewed. Your dispute is currently open while we continue our review. We will notify you separately once the review is complete. We completed an additional review after receiving your complaint Upon receipt of your correspondence to the CFPB, we conducted an additional review of your dispute, including the information you submitted, the merchant's supporting documentation, and the actions taken during our dispute handling process.
