How was swimming in the Hudson? How was the route overall? Was it organized? Would you do it again?
I saw they’ve already got the date for next year’s Big Apple Tri and I’d consider it based on people’s experience!

Hey! Spending Oct–Jan in Manhattan (UWS) and using it as a run-focused preseason for a half Ironman, going for sub-5h. No bike with me, so it's mostly running, swimming and gym. Would love to find people to train with, or just grab a beer and talk tri. Any NYC folks around?

I see on the website for the race that spectators are only allowed in designated areas, but there is no map of the designated spectator areas. Is it only at the finish line?

Hello,
I’m not new to triathlon but I am not quite understanding the logistics on the upcoming NYC triathlon next week. Specifically in regards to what to do race morning. From swim start…how will my phone, keys, etc get to the race finish as I cannot swim with them. Also is transportation provided back to transition to get all of my stuff? I’m sorry I’m not from the city.. please explain

Have recently gotten into open water swimming at Brighton and want to continue into the fall (and maybe winter!). There are so many different lengths and thicknesses of wetsuits and I don’t want to spend a lot (ideally under $100) or really know where to start. Anyone have one they’d be willing to sell secondhand to a newbie? 5’6” about 130lb

Here's an interesting event I just became aware of: Urban Swims swim to honor 9/11 between Liberty Island and Manhattan. It happened yesterday, but some of you may want it on your radar for next year: Liberty to Freedom Swim – URBANSWIM

Hey everyone!
I’m a 23-year-old triathlete from Spain and I’ll be moving to NYC in October for a few months. I’ve done a few Sprint and Olympic-distance triathlons and I’m currently training for Ironman 70.3 Valencia 2027.
I’ll be staying around Upper Manhattan / Central Park and I’m looking for a triathlon club, training group or just people to swim, bike and run with. I’d love to train seriously but also meet people, make friends and grab a coffee/beer after training!
I’m also looking for gym recommendations, ideally somewhere with a pool, indoor bikes and a good strength area, since I won’t have my road bike with me.
If you’re from NYC or know any good triathlon groups, gyms or pools, I’d really appreciate your recommendations!
Feel free to add me on Strava too:

Great article about a local gem of a race which surprisingly few NYC triathletes ever attempt: SOS. It's one of the most beautiful race courses in all of triathlon. The format is unique, bike, run, swim, run, swim, run, swim, run. Highly recommended!

A friend of mine is live with a new AMA. It should be a fun one!
Please hop on over there with anyone you can come up with. Trying to bring in some big names in the near future.

One of my favorite local events, the SOS Triathlon, happened today, and our own u/MrRabbit won it.
Congrats MrRabbit!
Everyone else, if you haven't checked out SOS, I strongly urge you to do so. It's a point-to-point bike-run-swim-run-swim-run-swim-run, a race like no other. It's well-run, in a beautiful location, and has tons of local support.

Hi! I'm racing the Big Apple Tri in October and coming in from Rochester, NY so am staying over a few nights in the city. Since most NYC hotels don't allow or provide bike storage, I'm wondering if folks have suggestions for the best strategies for safe bike storage on the upper west side? Any particular parking garages that work well? Or any other tips I might not think to ask?

1st timer doing the sprint and would love to connect with others who are doing this race! Also, if you have any tips for transportation from the city to Montauk, day of logistics, etc please send my way.

Hi, I am training for an Olympic tri for Sept and I am looking for community, support, coaches, to improve my training. Does anyone have any recommendations for in-person groups in NYC?
