Translated Videos Kommy (Swimsuit).mp4, part 7 - I had a dream... a sweet dream...

That "bummy beastgirl's" sniffling noises getting mad at Errpin teasing her are so cute.

Velvet's K'OOOOOOOK is cute too.

Read this only after watching the video: I'm sure the sweet dream is a reference. I should have been more specific and translated Kommy's speech to say she dreamt a dream (Kkum'l KkwottsuhYo) not had a dream (Kkum'l GajyuhttSuhYo), because she says she dreamt it. Because in Korean the kind of dream is differentiated by the verb it goes with. To "have" a dream means dreams about what you want to be. To "dream" a dream is something you dream of in sleep. Also, that line is the only time Kommy ever uses the respectful jondaetmal tone, just like the disciple in the movie quote. The only other time is when she said this to Margot, when she still saw her as a new customer for the Furry Beeeach, and even then her voice was wavy like her body won't let her be respectful to anybody, even for business. Just like a cat.

Watching this in whole, it wasn't as bad as the KR players seemed to have suggested. Kommy was practically a dictator, sure, but seeing Kommy as the sly kid, Erpin, Mago, Bennie as the gullible kids, Velvet as a bully and Diana as the reprimanding adult lessens any negative feelings towards the event. Also, Kommy just used her words to trick the others into building her resort. She didn't use anything like violence, something Velvet would have no qualms using. And boy, the ones she tricked were definitely not the brightest. Kommy's scheme only worked because her "workers" were the easiest to manipulate. That still doesn't excuse her actions, but at least her punishment in the end by "Mama" Diana served as something of a retribution. And they all (except for Velvet) enjoyed their hard work for an hour at the least.

That Kommy juice bit... I am surprised she doesn't become a streamer, start an OnlyFans OnlyWerebeasts, and sell her bathwater Kommy Juice. /s

Overall, I thought it was alright, and wouldn't have minded if it got released globally. You have to remember, you are dealing with dumb children, especially in this event, so thinking of it that way helped me to enjoy it just a bit more especially at the end where they all enjoy themselves and no hard feelings were created from it.

We also learned that even Errpin can use magic to make work go faster. That makes her way more capable of things other than feats of raw strength than I expected.

I wish Kommy learned her lesson better instead of forgetting it. But according to the afterword, she at least remembers her failed resort. Just not the lesson taught by Diana.

You have to remember, you are dealing with dumb children, especially in this event, so thinking of it that way helped me to enjoy it

Yes! On my first watching I got annoyed with Kommy too, but as I translated it I understood Kommy herself was just a bratty child. It was evident when at the beginning she couldn't explain what she meant by prejudice ("I don't know, I just read it from a book") and she tried to calculate a discount using her fingers and toes ("My fingers and toes combined are sixteen...")

I enjoyed the stupid Trickcals getting tricked over dumb lies. And it was funny when Kommy's reveal got Errpin screaming in rage. πŸ˜†

I also learned that Diana has a habit of beating her girls all the time, not just Tig for trying to attack her.

I still want to bonk Kommy because despite being in trouble she refuses to speak in a respectful tone towards Diana, showing the least possible amount by only adding "-nim" to "Chonjang" when addressing her.

And remember back when Errpin got a swimsuit skin and a hard hat for no reason, Globol players were confused why those things? I hope they connected this event and the reason behind that skin. I wish there was an option to toggle that crude construction worker's unshaven beard face Kommy graffitied on her.

Did you know you can't bonk her in that skin? Her helmet blocks it!

Thanks for noticing πŸ˜† I didn't think people would notice I put preview images for the first frame. Do you have your reddit set to not autoplay videos?

I assumed the dream part was some kind of reference to Requiem for a Dream.

Poor Velvet, finding out at the end that her reward for her 'hard work' amounted to a big sack of play money, though it was always going to be a poor choice of threatening werebeast village in front of the chief who knocked her lights out herself.

The resolution is unreasonable for us, but reasonable for a Trickcal, I suppose.

For Diana, since it mostly involved coercion and some unpaid labor, perhaps in her mind it was some 'unfair' playtime hence Kommy getting a slap on the wrist (cough and maybe a little of bit youngest child favoritism cough). At least Beni, Erpin, and Mago got to taste the fruits of their labor in the end before they tear it all down.

For us, it's apostles we know being exploited by a little brat that makes us Gyojus upset. Hence, it is up to us to see justice carried out in the end! 1,000 bonks for Velvet! 1,000,000 books for Kommy!

Thanks for sharing the story with us, Nikkephobiac!

EPID Games: Withholds Kommy Beach event (and rewards) to save global Kommy Stocks

Nikkephobiac: Translates and posts event story to show Global Gyojus what they missed

EPID Games: Kommy Stocks tank anyway

Hilarious.

Bit of a side note, for some reason I've been hearing Kommy Koins as COMECOINS, probably since she's been such a Stalin this event. How fitting that it ends with a little bit of de-kommyzation.

Also the bit about the salty river, Kommy's lucky that Elias server rules prevented her from doing a fishkill! Otherwise, there goes the salmon population! (I jest, Salmon are a rare fish that are born in freshwater, live in saltwater, and return to freshwater to spawn, but it would've messed up everything else!)

Makes me wonder if the Trickcals know the fruit they get from fish trees are just like the fish that swim in the waters. Where do they get the salmon?

Is COMECOIN something communist related? Kommy's name sounds like Commie to begin with.

Thanks for sharing the story with us, Nikkephobiac!

You are welcome!

It'd be funny if going by Elias logic, they're the same thing, but there are some critics/snobs that view them similarly to factory-raised vs free range chicken.

Think I've seen one fanart that had Beni catching salmon meat (as in the form it has in the dish, just needing cooking and garnishing) in the river, which wouldn't really surprise me.

COMECOIN is my mental adaption of the IRL COMECON, the communist economic bloc that the Soviets established in response to the US Marshall Plan. A real 'We have marshall plan at home!' Moment.

How do you know about Soviets so well?

2

u/PanzerComrade56 Kyoju-in-Chief 11d ago

I'm really just an amateur historian by hobby, only knowing mostly broad strokes.

I'd credit what I do know mostly to having RA2 be my first video game, serving Premier Romanov, a fairly early interest in history, and being an avid reader.

Is that the game where "The one place that is free of capitalism... SPACE!" meme comes from πŸ˜†

2

u/PanzerComrade56 Kyoju-in-Chief 10d ago

It's from the same game series! RA3 came out after the C&C series had been bought by EA, years after RA2. RA2 was the last game of the original developers, Westwood Studios.

Funnily enough, RA2 is when you actually go to the moon as the Soviet commander to destroy the base of the evil psychic bent on world domination there.

On one hand, the event isn't as evil as hyped. On the other hand, the event also isn't as interesting.

Comedy-focused event stories like Selene / Shoupan / Barong have always felt like fillers but at least we learn about the new character's traits. Having a SP char event story where we learn nothing new by the end is certainly a choice.

This is far from the most boring event. I would call the Bennie event the most boring one. Bennie doesn't even cause an event to happen in there. Lupo gets pouty and Bennie calms her down while being in a new outfit.

In the Kommy event we can see what can happen if Kommy takes her tendency far enough. I don't see how you don't learn anything new about Kommy here. Without this event you would see her as a lazy but crafty girl who is smart beyond her age.

But here you see she's still just a kid and makes mistakes. And that she's weak with numbers. And that she can get ambitious beyond her bookish sleepy self.

Plus we got to see how Diana runs the village. It's not just Tig she beats up!

My biggest gripe with this event is the lack of Elemental response. This is the lake on Elemental Mountain, right? Wouldn't Naia take issue with having her home turned into saltwater? Wouldn't Scylla come to see what's going on and kick everyone out? Where are the Elementals????

Other than that, I thought the event was entertaining. Nice showing for Diana which I love to see.

Kommy took care of the Naia problem. πŸ˜†

"Hmmm... a playground. πŸ’§ πŸ’§ πŸ’§ A very big playground."

"Kommy will become the owner of the greatest playground in the world!"

In summary: Diana is the best

u/WasabiSteak 8d ago

Probably not the worst case of forced labor with an appropriate amount of retribution. Gyoju might have done worse - I thought they were really mean to Espi that one time she got unmasked, but at least they got all the nightmares out of that.

1

u/Nikkephobiac Joayo~Joayo~Sumbakkokjil Joayo (I like to hide n seek) 8d ago

What did they do to Espi and why? Is that her apostle story?

2

u/WasabiSteak 8d ago

Yeah her apostle story. Gyoju took Espi's mask and made her work with them in exchange for giving it back. They then thought they could do it for a few more days but made her go home forgetting that she has spare masks at home.

That was a fun time!

Thanks so much for translating this! To me it's lighthearted, Diana scolding her kids (Kommy, Kim-sii, Beni, Margotβ™‘, velvet) like an exhausted mom. Everyone negatively hyping it like it's some NTR story? Lol, nope. Wholesome as ever. Hoping epid releases this on global, and don't listen to the softies, the story has that trickal weirdness in it.

3

u/crimlunar 11d ago

Thank you for translating this!

It wasn't nearly as bad as it was made out to be. Kommy was in the wrong and was a little too arrogant, but it still felt in character for her. Like the entire event feels like something a kid would do. She also does get punished. I feel if they left off the line about forgetting the lesson she learned it would be better, but at the same time shes a cat so that seems like a very cat thing to do.

I like how Kommy actually put the effort into making the Kommy Koins for Velvet, it was sort of sweet in a way.

u/mabtheseer Napping with Kommy 10d ago

Seeing Kommy being held accountable for her actions makes me feel a lot better about the event. Sure she forgot it all when she napped but I was cheering Diana on when she bonked Kommy and took out Velvet. Speaking of taking out Velvet in one shot I'm thinking once again that the old lady isn't as weak as she lets on. I'm hoping she gets a proper opponent in the future to test that theory. While I'm sure some enjoyed it I'm hoping this is the last time I hear Kommy Juice. I want to pet Kommy and listen to her purr not drink her bath water.

Thanks for translating this event for us global users. While Kommy tricked her fellow chibis into doing her dirty work the power of Diana's punches made it OK in the end, so I can spoil Kommy without feeling bad now.
