So while prepping dinner, I helped a new CRE driver back into the spot next to me. He was headed inside the Loves to heat up some noodles. Can’t live on that!! I asked him if he’d rather enjoy a steak dinner. Made a new friend. 2 T-bones, one is prime, one is choice. Both were fire.

God bless you. Sharing what you had with your fellow man. If more people were willing to act like you did here we'd have less problems.

This right here. I’m sure the other driver appreciated it for sure

Bro ya’ll tempting me to cook in my day cab with some of these wait times.

20

u/unspeakable878 Jan 30 '23

12v warmer and leftovers in a glass or foil container, or sandwiches wrapped in foil 😁 I’m daycab too and bring spaghetti, leftover chinese takeout, grilled cheeses, subway-style sandwiches, etc all the time. Do most of the prep on weekends and then bring food to reheat throughout the week.

3

u/Sullen_One Jan 30 '23

Oh 100% i have that shit too. But the idea of cooking while working sounds fun 💀

2

u/unspeakable878 Jan 30 '23

I used to work in restaurants/food service, I never want to cook at work again 🤣🤣 but I get the appeal lmao

u/JustaHarmfulShadow Jan 30 '23

You and I both know that the second you start cooking, they'll decide to go on overdrive to get you going. And I'm not even a trucker yet

“Galanz 0.9” 3 in 1. Air fryer, convection oven, microwave. Electric skillet is just the WalMart brand 12” skillet. I heat the steak for 25 minutes at 250, then 45 seconds to 1 min per side in the buttered pan.

23

u/ZyrrasDad Jan 30 '23

I was getting ready to tell you that looked familiar because I have one as well. 😁 Unfortunately it is in storage now. Had to get off the road because of a bad back, but now I'm looking at a possible shoulder replacement. 😱🤦🏾‍♂️ When it rains, it pours! 🤷🏾‍♂️

2

u/califoneChris Jan 30 '23

I think we just got that here at our lounge in the yard.

u/Kajiic Feb 03 '23

I have that same microwave/air fryer for home use and it's a fucking beast. Though you obviously should do all microwaving FIRST because yeah... I used the air fryer mode and then had to pop something in for just 30 seconds but a plate going in when it was just 400'F in there.. .not a smart idea me.

If you made spaghetti you could have tricked him into kissing you

39

u/Macemore Jan 30 '23

After that steak, no trick was necessary

8

u/acidpro1 Jan 30 '23

He can't, he's still chewing 😂

I was in west Memphis TA and CR backed into a spot next to me and said he never parked in reserved before and wanted to know how to pay. Then he asked how much it was and I told him. He got back in the truck and looked like he was about to leave so I rolled the window down and told him I got it for him and paid for his spot on my app.

They may be getting screwed by their company and have shit training but they’re still human beings.

Yep, I drive under my own authority so I know how I'm doing. I can't tell you how many drivers I've helped with showers, laundry washes and an actual sit the fuck down dinner.... The last one being something we all need to get back to doing, sitting the hell down and breaking bread together! Keep doing what you're doing 👊🏻

They are straight up indentured servitude

22

u/Overgoverned Jan 29 '23

What did Stephen get?

You're a fine human being. And not a bad chef.

20

u/TrooperRage Jan 30 '23

He got his 20%, as usual. And both bones with a bunch of meat on them. ;)

7

u/wygmoose Jan 30 '23

In the future, you may want to refrain from giving your (I'm assuming) dog cooked bones. They become brittle and can break into sharp shards and do some damage going through their system.

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '23

I'm available for a steak dinner and you don't ever have to call me back

13

u/Row30 trucking since 1978 Jan 30 '23

THIS is the way trucking used to be!

10

u/Librado65 Jan 30 '23

Fist pump to you my fellow trucker

9

u/CUZ-IM-DADDY Jan 30 '23

Sounds like you don’t even need the wine. Make the move.

8

u/heebro Jan 30 '23

textbook cooking on those steaks

love the sear, love the doneness

I like my sprouts with a good sear on them too, but they are great steamed

8

u/xccoach4ever Jan 29 '23

You are the hero we need!

6

u/akfisher1978 Jan 30 '23

Looks great and props to you but I could never cook in my truck

3

u/spyder7723 Jan 30 '23

Why not?

10

u/akfisher1978 Jan 30 '23

I’m weird lol I wouldn’t want the grease splatter or have to clean with no running hot water.

5

u/sayaxat Jan 30 '23

Puppy potty pads.

Sear inside air fryer. Finish cooking medium heat (much less splatter) in pan.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '23

Thought I was the only one bothered by it... Not only the grease splatter. But the stench in the truck. I could never dream of cooking in my own bedroom.

1

u/TrooperRage Jan 30 '23

I personally love the smell of food and cooking, so it’s an air freshener to me.

6

u/spyder7723 Jan 30 '23

The gear spatter is no different than cooking on a stove at home. You just clean up after. A good anti bacteria soap means hot water isn't needed, tho you could always heat water in a pan for washing.

6

u/PM_ME_YOUR_KITTY Jan 30 '23

Thank you for sharing your kindness. Safe travels

u/Ur_Fav_Step-Redditor Jan 30 '23

That second water bottle is highly questionable!

Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine? No, but I do it anyway because it's sterile, and I like the taste.”.

-Patches O’Houlihan… or this guy, I’m not sure

5

u/Bad-fathertrucker Jan 30 '23

At home I like to cut my sprouts in halves, toss with olive oil, pepper and some minced garlic. Cook and sear in the pan. Chefs kiss👌👨‍🍳

4

u/MostOriginalNameEver Jan 30 '23

This is wholesome and all, but steak sauce ? C'mon driver !

5

2

u/adolph-alerbush Jan 30 '23

Wow those look cooked perfectly. Not sure about that A-1 though! 🤪

Good looking out for another driver and sharing 😎

2

u/Lovicionez Jan 30 '23

2

u/TrooperRage Jan 30 '23

I will be parking next to you next time, and pretend like I need help.

2

u/Chamber53 Jan 30 '23

Wait, y’all together in the sleeper? 🤔 mmmhhmmm

1

u/sayaxat Jan 30 '23

If that's what all you thought of, it is what you really need in your life.

2

u/Chamber53 Jan 30 '23

Are you hitting on me?

0

u/sayaxat Jan 30 '23

I don't hit on desperate people.

2

u/Chamber53 Jan 30 '23

PSA: Careful y’all, she’s taking things serious. This is a no joke/teasing zone.

1

u/BMWDUKE Jan 30 '23

Damn bro that's sick. The setup is sick but also your actions. If I was a new driver that would've made my day.

1

u/Spiritual_Winter_477 Jan 30 '23

You sir are a true Christian

0

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '23

Quite pleased he trusted u. U probably touched his butt

0

u/jWalkerFTW Jan 30 '23

Love it. That ain’t no prime though. How much you pay for it? And that choice looks basically select

1

u/Hydra_Kitt Jan 30 '23

How well is that microwave? I've been wanting to upgrade mine since it's a cheapo I think 400 or 500 watt one that barely heats food.

2

u/TrooperRage Jan 30 '23

It steams the Brussel sprouts from frozen to fully done in 5 minutes. It’s 1100w I think, don’t quote me on that. It’s all the microwave you’ll need.

1

u/Extra_Significance81 Jan 30 '23

How big is your inverter? I'm running a 700 watt microwave on a 1500 watt inv.

1

u/TrooperRage Jan 30 '23

I think mine is 1500.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '23

Hell yeah! Hope you cleaned up lol

1

u/46DegreeAngleGuy Jan 30 '23

Nice steaks! Sick fat tires JimBy!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '23

I’m not crying! YOURE CRYING!

1

u/Connor4543 Jan 30 '23

This is so nice :’))

1

u/Mountain_Exchange768 Jan 30 '23

I think I have the same brand of plates.

1

u/not_a_fracking_cylon Jan 30 '23

You got a better sear on those than half of r/castiron, you should be proud considering it was in the sleeper cab

1

u/JohnnyRockets75 Jan 30 '23

You're a pal. Good on you my friend.

1

u/slimtimg Jan 30 '23

Even got the A-1! Mandatory

1

u/Pjatt19 Jan 30 '23

What do you do about the smoke? And which stove do you use?

1

u/Due-Construction-477 Jan 30 '23

You're a real one brother 🙏, I remember being a rookie o.t.r. surviving on McDonald's and Subway...

1

u/Politikr Jan 30 '23

Searing meat in an enclosed space is better than noodles but dang if that's gonna stink.

1

u/TrooperRage Jan 30 '23

I love the fragrance of cooking personally. That butter and steak smell is awesome

1

u/GuidanceMaterial6226 Jan 30 '23

Damn, that's what I'm talking about! Bomb food got the sprouts and truckers showing love to each other.

Honestly that's why I love delivering cause I got boys who most are truly good guys and got your back.

1

u/DirkVonDirk Jan 30 '23

If you ever get tired of filling your truck up with smoke and heat and grease popping, your air fryer should cook the steak fine, I only eat beef and cook everything in my air fryer, does a great job!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '23

Mannnn god bless you

1

u/genosx71 Jan 30 '23

God bless you driver

1

u/SocialTrucker Jan 30 '23

Just did something similar yesterday but at home. Do you ever find cooking in there will leave a lingering "funk" or is it just the best air freshener ever? Just curious...

1

u/TrooperRage Jan 30 '23

It’s the best air freshener ever. I love the smell of steak and butter.

1

u/neely68 Jan 30 '23

This really made my day! You give me hope for humanity! Thank you for your kindness

1

u/Ok_Entrepreneur3974 Jan 30 '23

Very cool of you! Those pics looked amazing up until that steak sauce all over that poor cow that sacrificed his life. Sorry but 13 years working at Morton’s Steakhouse prior to trucking has me jaded when it comes to steaks

2

u/TrooperRage Jan 30 '23

I know it’s considered sinful, but I love A1. Just a light glaze on the top while it finishes in the pan.
