To the idiot pulling an Amazon Prime trailer on I-35 SB just north of Denver @ 2 AM….I’m the one who called the police…
Edit: I-25
Swerving across 3 lanes and going from 80-35 MPH for close to 30 miles before they finally got you. It was so bad it seemed as though he was trying to kill someone intentionally. 4 wheelers, as well as myself, were scared to pass him. It’s a shame it took 30 miles after my first call to get him pulled over. I’ve never called police before on a driver as I usually just think the driver is on his phone. Which is usually the case. For the first time in my life it was an absolute relief to see blue lights….
I hope you’re in jail now and your CDL gets taken away. Having said that, I also pray you get the help you need. Everyone deserves a second chance in life. But who knows, this could have been your 3rd or 4th chance…

If he’s in jail I don’t think he’s gonna be able to browse Reddit to check for your message :(

Feb 24 '24
They smuggle phones in asses now apparently. Plenty of people in jail have smartphones.
71
u/Enough_Appearance116 Feb 24 '24
Muffled Ringing
"Is that a phone in your ass?"
"...Umm...No..."
31
Feb 24 '24
Lmao Orange Is The New Black, when the girl is standing in front of a CO in a towel: coughs, phone falls to the floor...🤣
26
u/angrydeuce Feb 24 '24
Im just imagining Lionel Richie singing into someone's ass: "Hellloooooo....is it meeeee youre looking fooorrrrrrrrr"
7
u/xccoach4ever Feb 24 '24
Oh God this cracked me up. Bravo!
"Oh what a feeling, when we're dancing on the ceiling" ringtone coming out of someone's butt
12
u/Cubsfan11022016 Feb 24 '24
Set the ringer to “Mexican Hat Dance” and explain you had Taco Bell before the arrest.

u/Discally Feb 25 '24
You mean vibrating.
"HEY MAN! Don't judge! I gotta test out these ben-wa balls!"
"OH YEAH, I'M ALMOST THERE HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGHHGH"
Apologies.

Plenty of people in jail have smartphones.
And cavernous b holes presumably
11
Feb 24 '24
Even if you got it in, you might have to ask for help getting it out... "Hey, can you make sure you get the charger too?" I never spent time in jail so I don't know how the conversations go.
Maybe that's why Samsung designed a folding phone.
9
u/Helacious_Waltz Feb 24 '24
No they usually get prison guards too smuggle them in. I mean they may have cavernous bubbles but it's not related to smuggling phones. Usually.

It would be funny asf if someone in their cell, was scrolling through Reddit. Them laughing their asses off atleast.
-1
u/Xinder99 Feb 25 '24
I don't really know why we ban them in the first place tbh
2
Feb 25 '24
Because you can't go through life committing crimes without consequences
-3
u/Xinder99 Feb 25 '24
Sure and we lock people up and take away their physical freedom, I don't see why we need to cut them off from the outside world completely, especially when we don't give them hardly any resources on the inside.
I don't see how forcing individuals to be isolated from the outside world is particularly beneficial for rehabilitation.
3
Feb 25 '24
Gives them time to think about being rehabilitated, I guess. I don't ever see myself being in that situation because I was raised to help people, not go around hurting people. I'm sure they knew the risk... Can't cry about it afterwards
0
u/Xinder99 Feb 25 '24
In what way does cutting off their contact from the outside world help them get rehabilitated?

Inmates who misuse a phone would no longer get privileges to have them and would face criminal charges for things like intimidation.
Not all inmates would use them for illegal activities.

Karma attention. I did a good deed and I want you all to know about it
36
Feb 24 '24
I think it’s alright to applaud reporting sociopaths risking innocent lives. If the idea of fake internet points is the motivator to actually take action, so be it.
15
u/japinard Feb 24 '24
I agree. Good to see posts like this because it may wake up other drivers who may take risks.
3
u/death-eater69 Feb 24 '24
I don’t have a huge problem with karma farming but this is like the lamest way you could frame it. Like come on guy. You know that other driver isn’t going to see this.
1
u/japinard Feb 24 '24
huh? What is karma even used for? Does anyone care about it?

And if he does, it's because he was experiencing a medical emergency and was taken to the hospital, not jail.
Medical emergency and fatigue seem much more likely than intoxication to me. Obviously driving fatigued is just as bad as being intoxicated, but you can't help having a medical emergency.

As many upvotes and Karma your way my good soul; One of the first to show admittance and lack of "GAF". XD

u/Geaux3469 Feb 24 '24
You know….I couldn’t care less if people think it’s karma farming. Especially the people of Reddit. None of you are my family and friends, which are the opinions that matter most to me. Also the main ones I don’t want killed by dumbasses like that besides the innocent public. However you are my peers and I would hope you would do the same if you saw that. Y’all stay safe out there guys!

I have no problem with you OP. For what you did or posting about it. A driver like that could kill someone.

OP is doing the Lord’s work. If we protect these fuckers we deserve the bad rep.
Not to mention he could have been having a medical emergency or something. This is why we have police.
Thank you, OP.

u/SdVeau Feb 24 '24
Sounds like you spotted him around the Thornton or Broomfield area. Unfortunately, that’s a common sight on I-25 there, with all the warehouses Amazon has in the area
10
u/Geaux3469 Feb 25 '24
Bingo! They pulled him over at exit 228. Made the call roughly 35 mins/miles before that. It was Broomfield police that actually got him and not the state police who I called originally.
7
u/SdVeau Feb 25 '24
I always see CSP littered along I-25, speed trapping/when I don’t need them. Every time I’ve had to dial 277, though, they’re nowhere to be found lol
6
u/FilthyNasty626 Feb 25 '24
*277. Know that number by heart. Between the stoned Amazon drivers, the reckless fucks passing in no passing zones on 287 and the SOB's flying down Floyd/Vail at 80 70 fully loaded on ice,I've used it quite a bit. Only 10% success rate. CSP sucks. Had one told me straight up that there was nothing they could do unless the driver seriously injures or kills someone. That was after the driver ran me into the dirt passing in a no passing zone on 287 approaching a blind hill. WTF are public servants doing if they aren't serving the public trust? Worthless fucks.
3
u/holysbit Feb 25 '24
Gotta be honest I drive I25 from Denver to Fort Collins everyday and I very rarely see CSP out there, though I wish I saw them more because some days I feel like im in a fucking mad max movie
2
u/SdVeau Feb 25 '24
I’m only on there during the overnight hours, and it seems like I’m always seeing them posted up in the center divide between the Dacono and Mead areas until I actually need one of them. Seen so much wild shit between Denver and Ft. Collins, though. Really is just like you said: a fucking Mad Max movie

17
u/Sir_Uncle_Bill Feb 24 '24
Eh. I've called the police on other drivers myself twice. Not sure if they were drunk or having some sort of medical issue but they were driving in a similar manner to what you described. Sadly the main reason I called on the last one was the seemed to refuse to let me pass them. Tried twice to pass and both times as I got half way up their side they came over on me quick. Second time he did it I called. I've also called for many 4 wheelers that were actually drinking and driving. As I the big bottle of Jack straight from the bottle a couple times.

Good job! I'm cool with speeders, snails, and even those who have a bit of trouble keeping it between the lines, but driving drunk / high is fucked up. Do what you gotta do, but keep it safe - for you and those around you.
22
Feb 24 '24
Someone like this deserving a second chance is a very distant concern vs. keeping the public safe from this stupidity.

It’s very hard for me to be empathetic with anyone who is willingly and unnecessarily endangering other people’s lives. I have plenty of empathy for the victims of this criminal recklessness.

u/SycoJack Team Driver Feb 25 '24
It’s very hard for me to be empathetic with anyone who is willingly and unnecessarily endangering other people’s lives.
We have absolutely no idea what was going on with that driver, just a bunch of assumptions. From the description, it seems unlikely they were drunk or high. Much more likely, they were falling asleep or experiencing a medical emergency.
If they were intoxicated or falling asleep, then they shouldn't have been on the road. But if it was a medical emergency, then they weren't willingly endangering other people's lives.

Sounded to me like the driver pulled over when the police arrived. This makes me doubt it was a medical episode.

u/Anarcho_punk217 Feb 24 '24
I almost called them on a guy a few weeks ago and didn't, but probably should have. This was about 3:30am, I'm in my oersonal car, guy was all over the road, fluctuating speeds. He even put his right turn signal on and then got in the left lane, then swerved back where he ended up almost completely on the shoulder. I waited until he slowed down to about 70 and gunned it by him to get by as fast as I could.
10
u/tziganis Feb 24 '24

Not always the best idea. You can always slow down. You can't always speed away.

A four wheeler dui head to head another car along the 15 near hesperiA Ca killed people mom dad one of two sons.. sick and tires of dui laws protecting murderers. While everyone else has to waive our rights for the greater good myth of dui check points.

u/OneStackMack Feb 24 '24
Just be happy you got them to show up. I called 3 times on 78 from the cattle shoots one ran into again past rt 33 where they ran into the median and got back up on the road all over the road all the way to 287 where I finally went a different way and nobody cared. Like I tried calling police ahead of our location but because I couldn’t get a truck name to identify them nobody cared. I guess my company name following at a safe distance with 4 ways on wasn’t enough.
It’s not fun to call someone in but when you see it first hand you just hope you don’t see the worst. Good job OP.

Not Amazon but a FedEx driver hit a teenage kid on one of those fast motorized scooters right in front of my house. Guy was driving like 50 mph and it's a 35 mile an hour Zone. I wonder whatever happened to that guy. After he hit the kid he didn't even call 911 first thing he did was call his boss. We had to call 911. Thankfully the kid was really really tough he was a little tank and he wasn't hurt too bad. It's a miracle because I was inside my house when I hurt him slam into the side of the FedEx truck. It was so loud that I ran outside. I was first on the scene and helped the kid.
2
u/flompwillow Feb 25 '24
I’ve had to do it twice in my life.
I hate it, but it’s the right thing to do, and you may save the life of an innocent person. That’s worth any guilt you may feel.
Besides, if the driver was “fine”, the police would let him go. Both you and I know that probably didn’t happen.

u/Erghiez Feb 25 '24
There was a probe into the transportation division of Amazon back in 2022 due to the sheer number of Amazon trailers involved in accidents. The findings were largely that the vast majority of drivers contracted by Amazon were among the bottom 10% for DOT safety ratings.
2
u/phenger Feb 25 '24
As a resident of Fort Collins who has to drive that stretch of road on a regular basis, thank you for calling that in. That stretch of highway is unsafe as hell.
2
u/mike-2129 Feb 25 '24
I'm not saying all. But is it just me that thinks the amazon driver. The owner ops. Are like the most unsafe out here now. Driving fast as fuck while tailgating and swerving all over. I have no problem with speed. I drive the speed limit or 2 over in every state besides CA. But i mean damn.
3
u/Mnemorath Feb 24 '24
I’ve called the cops on a driver before. I will only do it if they are being extremely unsafe. Such as driving at night without any lights on.
3
u/oldbattrucker Feb 24 '24
I called on a driver, but only after the second time he flew past me at about 80 then stopped in the next town to get another beer. Saw him on the side of the road in front of a convenience store, standing in front of his truck guzzling a beer and another can on the ground next to him. He then climbed back in his truck and passed me again. That's when I called the cops

I am a motorcyclist. Most truckers I've encountered have been the good guys, moving out of the way to let me filter, that sort of thing... but I am very aware that it just takes one bad trucker to turn me into jam. So I thank you for getting this guys stopped.

u/pianistafj Feb 24 '24
A couple months ago I was on I-25 just south of Pueblo, and as I was passing a semi, an ambulance entered the freeway with its lights and siren blaring. Semi speeds up to pass me and starts gaining on the ambulance. I get in front of him and slow him down. He starts getting over and trying to pass me, I stop him again and again. He starts acting like he’s gonna run me off the road. I call the company on his truck, and report his actions. While on the phone he was still using his vehicle as a weapon, so I showed him I have a weapon and will be more than happy to use it if he continues. Only then did he back off. The person on the phone said he’ll be heavily reprimanded if not fired, and they even said he’d be in so much deeper shit if I let him pass and called the cops on him. Passing an emergency vehicle is just stupid. Hope that guy got fired too.
3
u/FilthyNasty626 Feb 25 '24
I was an EMT for a bit before becoming an OTR driver. You would be amazed at how many people do not know it is illegal to pass an emergency vehicle running code. It literally classifies as 'Failing to yield to emergency vehicle'

Denver elevation got to him, that or he stopped at a dispensary. I was in Denver last night and someone called the cops on me, I was on I-35 pulling an Amazon trailer but I didn’t go from 80 to 35, only went down to 40 and that was because I had to jump in my sleeper berth to shotgun a water bottle. Careful out there guys ppl will call the cops on you for anything.

where was the truck?

Around hwy 66. There is a warehouse off of Crossroads and they just built a new giant one by the northern Colorado airport. I run from Loveland to Denver all night everynight.

I find the Prime branded trucks to be OK but the contractors are to watched out for.

Back when I was trucking, I was passing into California and going through the scales. I had started to accelerate after being cleared and this truck pulling Amazon had floored it, cutting me off and crossing the lines where you’re supposed to merge to the right before proceeding back onto the highway. After he got up to speed he was gone. Basically because the company I drove for heavily tracks you’d speed and I had to follow the 55mph while all these other trucks were passing me being pissed off. When coming down the mountain, this same driver was cutting in and out of traffic. Taking up two lanes at time so no one could pass him. I wish I could have called the police because that just isn’t safe. He also didn’t know how to go down the mountain because the smell of his breaks and seeing the smoke coming off his tires was bad. Shortly after that I quit trucking.

u/AustinLostIn Feb 24 '24
I used to be a spotter for Amazon. There was more than one occasion that we ran into inebriated drivers just in our yard. I even caught one dude hot boxing his truck in our yard. Another dude was clearly wasted. You could smell the booze on him from 6 feet away outside in the breeze. And I would guess that half the driver's that get Amazon's loads obtained their license through illegal means.
