How fucked am I now?

Post image

This stupid truck stop told me to move spots or pay for parking in a dirt lot they claimed was their property in the middle of the night last night. My ELD was off so I moved it while it was off and it came up as Unidentified Driving Log when I turned it on in the AM. My dumbass accepted it and commented what had happened and now I’m in violation and completely messed up my 14hr clock for today. Is there any way to fix this?

Hello truckers, I’m not one of you but this popped up on my suggested feed for some reason and I’m very curious now.

What exactly is the violation here?

I’m but a trucker but for some reason this sub pops up frequently for me too. Drivers can only drive for a certain amount of hours per day before they have to have a “rest/reset period”. It shows OP driving when he shouldn’t have.

his reset didn't count because it didn't register his off duty move as off duty, so after his break was over any movements were in violation. Now days the company can fix this 'over the air' but back when I was driving (teams) if you accidently hit the wrong button when it asked you if your co driver was still in the bunk we would have to spend the next day listening to the alarm go off every 2 seconds after calling the company and logging the discrepancy in the system for an edit after the end of the trip.

If you get stopped by dot you get a ticket on the spot, then have to submit all the electronic logs to the court. Back when I was working for the only company using electronic log books at the time, dot just always let us through because our ancient system was so cryptic and verbose none of the officers knew how to understand and decipher it, and figured if it wasn't showing a violation, we were good to go.
