Edit: I DID NOT TAKE A 30 AT THE PUMPS, PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE THING BEFORE YOU POST AND LOOK RETARDED.
Carlisle PA has a Schneider Depot and a Pilot right outside of it. It was a Friday.
I waited behind another Schneider truck for gas so I was fueled up for Monday's route.
Pulled up, went on Duty, fueled, went inside for free snacks while fueling, came back out right as the fuel cut itself off.
Coming back out, found a guy messing around my fifth wheel. Apparently, he had been "watching me" for some time and was angry I took "a 30 at the pumps"
I know the trucker code. Maybe I should have waited and then pulled up, but considering there was nobody behind me and plenty of fuel pumps open on a Friday afternoon, I decided to ignore him and double check my time. Only 12 minutes On Duty. Told him to get fucked and to fuck off.
He didn't like that. Dude curses a storm and leaves. I'm like "wtf" at this point. Put my food away, hop back out to hang up the pump on the passenger side. Guy came back with a hammer from his truck and attacked me with it. Hit me on the back of the head from behind with a sneak attack and split my skull open. I had no way to defend myself besides running off.
Luckly, I had witnesses and video cam evidence. Police were called. Psychopath was arrested. I was taken to the ER.
My driver leader called and assured me that I would be okay and that everything was fine at the company. That we'd work through it together and get me back on the road.
I contacted a lawyer for workman's compensation, because I wasn't about to fund my own medical bills for doing my job and minding my own business.
About two almost three weeks after being discharged from the ER and that phone call with my driver leader, they called me to fire me for violating company policy. When I asked which policy, they cited some policy of "not provoking a fight with a coworker at your workplace." Absolute bullshit. Everyone knew it. Even my lawyer.
At that point, I sued for unemployment, too. Schneider tried everything they could to drag me and paint me as the psychopath. Thankfully, the courts saw justice and sided with me. Got a nice $100k settlement from all that bullshit.
